Chapter 935 My Wife Was the Boss in Our Family
Gabriella felt awkward. She tried to flatter but it backfired.
'Why does the Gordon family think so highly of Nora?' she wondered.
"Mom, stop giving me more food. I can't eat that much," Nora said, looking at the mountain of food on her plate, feeling both warm and helpless.
Jeffery's attitude had changed a lot. She used to dislike her, but now she doted on her. She couldn't handle it.
"It's okay, if you can't finish it, just leave it," Jeffery said, adding more food to her bowl.
"That's such a waste," Nora replied with a smile.
"Then give the leftovers to Aaron."
Aaron, caught off guard, was stunned. Since when did he become the one to eat leftovers?
Nora glanced at him, raising an eyebrow as if to say, "Did you hear that?"
Aaron chuckled. "Alright, I'll eat slower."
Nora blinked. "Why eat slower?"
"To save room for the leftovers," Aaron said.
Nora raised an eyebrow. "Are you calling what I leave behind leftovers?"
Aaron quickly tried to fix his mistake. "Wrong choice of words, it should be leftover delicacies."
Nora was satisfied and casually gave him some food from her bowl. There were carrots he didn't like, but Aaron ate them without complaint.
Billy noticed Gabriella's surprise and pushed his bowl forward. "Dad, I can't finish my food either, can you help me?"
Aaron glanced at him. "Finish it yourself."
Billy frowned. "Dad, why can you accept Mom's leftovers but not mine?"
Aaron took a bite and said, "Because I only eat my wife's leftovers."
Billy said, "But I'm your son. In other families, the son is the most important, right?"
Aaron looked at him. "In our family, the wife is the most important."
Billy subtly glanced at Gabriella. "Alright, I get it. Dad is a henpecked husband."
Samantha giggled and joined in. "Daddy, I can't finish my food either, what should I do?"
Aaron was more affectionate towards Samantha. "Sweetie, don't make trouble, go find your grandma."
Samantha looked at Jeffery and said, "Grandma, Daddy doesn't love me anymore."
Jeffery laughed. "You don't need his love, Grandma loves you."
Gabriella kept a smile on her face during dinner, but the muscles in her face betrayed her true feelings of weariness.
After dinner, everyone went about their own business.
"Nora, you live in a loving family, it's enviable," Gabriella said as she walked in the garden with Nora, her gaze fixed on Aaron playing with Samantha and Billy.
"As long as you give sincerely, you will receive sincerity," Nora said, looking at Aaron with a soft light in her eyes.
Gabriella glanced at her. "Nora, sorry about that, but I have to say I doubt what you just said."
"Don't you think so?" Nora asked.
A hint of sarcasm flashed in Gabriella's eyes.
"I've been in business for years. Sincerity is the last thing you want. If you're too sincere, competitors will eat you alive."
Nora smiled. "I don't do business. I mean with family, sincerity works both ways."
Gabriella looked at her. "The Gordon family really likes you. But usually, in wealthy families, in-law relationships are superficial. Your mother-in-law doesn't give you a hard time?"
Nora smiled but didn't mention how Jeffery used to dislike her.
Gabriella felt frustrated. She had tried to get Nora to reveal more, but Nora wouldn't bite. Without her response, Gabriella couldn't stir up trouble.
After spending some time at the Gordon Manor, Aaron and Nora prepared to leave since Carter and Jacob usually went to bed early.
"Aaron, Nora, why don't you stay tonight? It's just the two of us at home, and it's boring," Jeffery said, holding Nora's hand.
Nora smiled. "No, we don't want to intrude on your time together."
Jeffery glanced disdainfully at Caden. "Who wants to spend time with him?"
Caden frowned. "If not with me, then who?"
"With my flowers and plants," Jeffery replied, giving him a sideways glance. "You can go spend time with your flowers and plants too."
Caden was at a loss for words. He knew she was hinting at other women. "Jeffery, stop being sarcastic. I'm well-behaved now, okay?"
"Ok," Jeffery responded indifferently.
Caden's brows furrowed. "What do you mean? Don't you believe me?"
"Whether I believe you or not, what does it matter?"
"Aaron, look at your mom. What kind of attitude is this?" Caden called out.
Jeffery glanced at Caden, still indifferent. "This is my attitude. If you don't like it, leave. I'd be happy to be alone."
Caden was speechless. "You want me to leave? That's my house!"
"Are you saying I should move out?"
"See, you're looking for trouble again!"
"If you don't want me to look for trouble, you can shut up."
"I'm not arguing with a woman!"
Caden angrily shut his mouth.
Nora watched the two argue, amused. It seemed the dynamic between Caden and Jeffery had changed. Jeffery had taken control, and everything was moving in a good direction.
"Dad, Mom, we're leaving now," Aaron said.
Jeffery asked again, "Nora, are you sure you don't want to stay tonight?"
"We have a guest today, maybe next time," Nora said.
Jeffery glanced at Gabriella, who was already in the car, with displeasure. "Alright then, drive safely."
"Okay."
After saying goodbye to Jacob, Nora got into the car. The two cars headed to Star River Bay together. Samantha, Billy, and Carter were in one car, while Frederick drove Aaron and the others.
"Mr. Gordon, I'm going to bother you tonight. You won't curse me in your heart, will you?" Gabriella joked, noticing Aaron hadn't paid much attention to her all day.
Aaron, sitting in the front passenger seat, looked indifferent. "If I curse you, will you go back now?"
