Chapter 878 Did You Miss Me
Mateo finally left.
Everyone, except Nora, breathed a sigh of relief.
Especially Hugo, who felt way more relaxed.
After all, Mateo was royalty. If anything happened to him here, Hugo couldn't afford to bear the responsibility.
"Dr. Smith, should we head back now, or do you want to stay a bit longer?" Hugo asked Nora.
Nora thought staying here was fine.
But Hugo had enrolled Millie in school here, and she was starting classes tomorrow.
After some thought, Nora decided to go back to Hugo's villa with them.
Speaking of Millie going to school, James was naturally unhappy.
He didn't want Millie to receive the education here.
But James couldn't take Jasmine away for the time being, and Millie couldn't just stay home doing nothing, so he had to suppress his impatience and let Millie go to school for now.
Everything seemed to return to normal.
After returning to the country, Aaron was busy handling related matters, and he was swamped. He finally managed to sort out the subsidiary's issues.
When Nora video-called him at night, she could see that Aaron looked quite exhausted.
"Aaron, you must be worn out."
"Yeah, feeling sorry for me?" Aaron pretended to be pitiful.
Nora nodded. "Yes, I do."
She meant it from the bottom of her heart; she truly felt sorry for Aaron.
"So this is your way of comforting me, just with words?" Aaron teased.
Nora laughed. "Come out of the screen, and I'll show you how much I care about you."
Aaron raised an eyebrow and said, "Honey, say something sweet to me, and I'll feel better."
Nora blinked. "Honey?"
Aaron waved his hand. "Not that."
Nora tried again. "Sweetheart?"
"No."
Aaron shook his head again.
Nora couldn't think of anything else. "Then what do you want me to call you?"
Aaron gave a wicked smile. "Honey, I want to hear your moans."
Nora's face flushed, and she glared at him.
"Pervert! I'm hanging up."
"Don't hang up."
Aaron chuckled. "Honey, we've been so intimate so many times, and you're still so shy?"
Nora snorted, "Yeah, I am not as shameless as you."
Aaron chuckled again, glanced at the background behind her, and said, "You all went back?"
Nora knew that Noe and Frederick must have reported to him.
She deliberately said, "No, I ran off with someone else."
Aaron's brown eyes deepened. "Honey, even if you run to the ends of the earth, I'll bring you back."
Nora gave him a sidelong glance. "I'm not by your side. Are there any women trying to take advantage of you?"
Aaron raised an eyebrow. "If you want to know, why not come back early to supervise me?"
Nora laughed. "No need, let them try. I'm tired of you anyway. If someone else takes you away, I'll just find someone new."
Aaron sighed, "Honey, you're still so domineering."
Nora said, "Yes, I'm not the kind of delicate women you men like. Are you disappointed?"
Aaron said, "Wrong, honey, you should get a lie detector and see what I really think."
Nora couldn't help but laugh. After some banter, she noticed it was getting late and said, "Alright, enough. You should get some sleep."
His dark circles under his eyes were too heavy, and Nora truly felt sorry for him.
"I don't want to hang up." Aaron's brown eyes were full of tenderness.
Nora felt a tenderness in her heart and was about to say something when Aaron's phone dinged.
Someone must have sent Aaron a message.
"Who’s texting you this late?" Nora asked, curious.
Aaron glanced at his phone. "It's Gabriella."
Nora's smile faded. "What's up with her?"
"She said she's coming to Lindwood City and asked if the matter was resolved."
Gabriella was coming to see Aaron!
Nora bit her lip lightly. "Honey, is your collaboration going to last long?"
Aaron raised an eyebrow, teasingly, "Worried?"
Nora shot him a look. "What am I worried about?"
"Worried I'll be seduced by her."
"Will you?"
"Honey, I thought you knew me."
Nora teased, "Yes, I know you best, my good husband."
Aaron laughed. "Honey, you've met Gabriella. She's so carefree. I'm more worried about you."
Nora asked, "What are you worried about?"
"I'm worried Gabriella might be a lesbian and try to seduce you."
Nora laughed. "You're being ridiculous."
Aaron added, "When it comes to you, I have to be alert."
Nora didn't want to joke around anymore, "Alright, stop it. Go to sleep."
"Okay, give me a kiss."
Nora made a kissing gesture towards the camera. After some more sweet talk, they finally hung up.
Staring at the black screen, Nora thought about Gabriella, lost in thought.
'Just like Aaron said, Gabriella is carefree and probably won't have any designs on Aaron.'
'Of course, Gabriella won't try to seduce me either.'
Nora didn't want to add unnecessary worries, so she pushed aside the messy thoughts and went to bed.
Without Aaron by her side to warm the bed, she felt unaccustomed.
So she grabbed a pillow to hug, pretending it was Aaron.
The next day was just another ordinary day.
Nora received a message from Mateo, asking her to watch TV in the afternoon.
Mateo said he and Tomas would appear in public together to visit impoverished areas.
It seemed Tomas wanted to give Mateo a friendly public image.
Nora smiled and sent an OK emoji.
Soon, Mateo sent another message.
Mateo: [Do you miss me?]
Nora was speechless.
Mateo couldn't be serious for a single moment.
Nora ignored him.
Mateo: [I miss you a lot.]
Nora still didn't respond.
Mateo continued to bombard her with messages.
Mateo: [Nora, why aren't you replying? What are you doing? Oh, I know, you must be thinking about me, right?]
Unable to bear it any longer, Nora replied.
Nora: [If you keep being annoying, I'll delete you.]
Mateo: [Nora, you finally responded.]
Then he sent a photo.
Mateo: [Florence has recovered well. She asked me to thank you.]
Nora sighed. Talking properly wasn't so hard, was it?
Nora: [You're welcome.]
Mateo: [Any precautions to keep in mind?]
Nora thought for a moment.
Nora: [Just regular exercise.]
Mateo: [Got it.]
Nora didn't respond further, and Mateo didn't send any more inappropriate messages.
Nora thought her conversation with Mateo was just a normal chat, but she didn't expect it to be used against them later.
The next afternoon, remembering her promise to Mateo, Nora turned on the TV.
Sure enough, she saw Tomas with Mateo and a group of attendants visiting a poor area in Hchilia, comforting the local residents.
Such political events were naturally pre-arranged.
The villagers stood in neat rows to welcome their arrival.
