Chapter 1028 She Didn't Love Johnnie That Much
Everyone was shocked.
Gabriella's eyes welled up as she helped Johnnie catch his breath and wiped away the blood. "Johnnie, calm down!"
"Gabriella, this is your fault. Just leave!" Randy snapped.
"Okay, okay, I'll go if it means Johnnie will be alright," Gabriella said, tears streaming down her face as she started to let go of Johnnie's hand.
"Don't go. I only need you," Johnnie said, gripping her hand tightly, his face pale.
Gabriella's tears fell like rain. She held his hand tightly and nodded. "Okay, I won't go!"
"Everyone, step aside," Nora, who had been watching, said with a frown. She checked Johnnie's pulse and gave him a pill from her bag.
Randy was startled. "What did you give my son?"
"It's a pill I developed last night for the nervous system," Nora replied.
"Dad, this is Mrs. Gordon, a miracle doctor," Johnnie explained.
Randy's eyes lit up. "Mrs. Gordon, can you cure Johnnie?"
Nora smiled. "I’ll do my best, but I can't guarantee the outcome. I'm a doctor, not a god."
Randy felt a bit let down. He had hoped for a definite cure.
Seeing his disappointment, Nora added, "Randy, everyone is heartbroken over Johnnie's accident. Matters of the heart should be left to them. Don't put too much faith in what some so-called master says. Love is fate, and no one can change it."
Randy frowned. "Mrs. Gordon, I disagree. Vilma and I felt something was off with Gabriella from the start. If they were meant to be, this accident wouldn't have happened."
Nora wanted to say more but realized it was pointless. Randy was as stubborn as those on Walter's side. Convincing him would take time.
She glanced at Susan, who seemed distracted and lost in thought. Intrigued, Nora observed her. Susan appeared quiet and well-behaved, unlike the flamboyant Gabriella. But her gaze towards Johnnie was too calm.
It didn't add up. If Aaron had a car accident and became disabled, Nora would be in tears and extremely anxious. Susan's calmness suggested she didn't love Johnnie that much.
Meanwhile, Gabriella was a crying mess, refusing to leave even after being scolded. The difference between her and Susan was stark.
Nora's eyes shifted, and she spoke, "Gabriella, let it go. Johnnie has someone to take care of him. You should go back to your ward."
Gabriella was shocked. "Nora, I'm not leaving. Johnnie needs me."
Nora replied calmly, "Do you care about your own health? You're still in postpartum confinement. If you don't take care of yourself, you'll suffer long-term."
"Mrs. Gordon is right, Gabriella. Come back to the ward with me," Thea urged.
"I don't want to! Mom, Johnnie can't do without me," Gabriella insisted.
Nora said, "Gabriella, no one is indispensable. How do you know you can take better care of Johnnie than Ms. Hicks here?"
"Exactly, Susan is a nurse. She's the best at taking care of people," Randy added.
Susan looked embarrassed and regretful. She had only been told Johnnie had a traffic accident, not that he was blind and deaf. If she had known, she wouldn't have come.
Aaron saw Nora persuading Gabriella and narrowed his eyes. He didn't understand Nora's plan but supported her. "Gabriella, listen to Nora. Go back to the ward with Thea."
"Let's go," Nora and Thea said, helping Gabriella out.
Gabriella bit her lip, looking at Johnnie's pale face, her tears never stopping.
"Stop crying. Trust me, soon no one will try to separate you and Johnnie again," Nora whispered.
Gabriella was stunned. "Nora, what do you mean?"
Nora smiled. "Not everyone is willing to spend their life with a disabled person."
Gabriella slowly understood. "Are you saying Susan might not want to be with Johnnie now?"
Nora nodded. "Susan will love herself more. With Johnnie like this, she probably won't want to spend her life with him."
Gabriella's eyes began to shine faintly, but she didn't dare to hope too much. "Really? They grew up together. She loves Johnnie very much."
Nora added, "Even married couples separate when faced with difficulties. Susan and Johnnie aren't married yet. She doesn't have to sacrifice her happiness. Unless she loves Johnnie deeply, but from what I see, she doesn't."
Listening to Nora, Gabriella wiped her tears, feeling hopeful. "Hopefully, Susan is rational and doesn't want to sacrifice her happiness."
That way, no one would compete with her for Johnnie.
They entered the next ward. Nora helped Gabriella onto the bed and reminded her, "You also need to think carefully. If Johnnie can't be cured and remains disabled, he won't be able to bring you wealth or security. Are you sure you want to stay with him?"
