Chapter 367 He Also Cheated
The secretary was an elegant woman with her hair neatly tied up and exquisite makeup adorning her face. Her dark uniform accentuated her figure slender, drawing attention to her long, shapely legs. She reached up to remove a stray hair from Kenneth's collar and straightened his clothes, displaying a familiarity that did not go unnoticed.
Sandy, who was sitting at the table, was about to take a sip of her soup when she noticed the intimate proximity between the two. She furrowed her eyebrows, sensing that this familiarity was not uncommon.
The secretary's attractiveness and the ease with which she interacted with Kenneth left Sandy wondering if there was something more than just a professional relationship between them...
The thought of it made her lose her appetite.
Kenneth slightly raised his head, allowing the secretary to adjust his clothes as if he were a lord.
He had initially paid little attention to her actions, as she was his chief secretary and was well-versed in his daily routine. During the assistant's absence, she took care of all his trivial matters.
However, he noticed Sandy's subtle expression earlier. What was on her mind?
Kenneth's heart softened, and when the secretary finished tidying him up, he smiled gently at her and said, " Thank you for your hard work."
The secretary was stunned, gazing at the tenderness in Kenneth's eyes. Her nerves tightened as she was not used to such warmth from him. Normally, Kenneth was reserved at the company; and even if someone did an excellent job, they wouldn't receive any praise from him.
Despite being known as the "Cold-Faced Demon" behind his back. Kenneth's sudden display of gentleness left everyone surprised. The female secretary couldn't help but wonder if his change in demeanor was due to Mrs. Hamilton's pregnancy and his potential desire for an extramarital affair with her.
"Mr. Hamilton..." the secretary was about to say something when Kenneth interrupted her.
"Let's go, I'll walk you out," he said, without allowing her to continue, Kenneth placed his arm around her shoulder and silently guided her out of the ward.
As Nora arrived, she witnessed Kenneth and the secretary leaving the ward with his arm on her shoulder.
In an instant, the smile on Nora's face froze hinting at the tension and uncertainty that lay beneath the surface.
‘What's going on? Why is Kenneth embracing that stunning woman? Could he be having an affair while Sandy's pregnant?’ Nora pondered, and her heart a tumult of conflicting emotions.
She wondered, 'Are men truly so untrustworthy? Edric, naturally, was not exempt from this stereotype. Given his past, it was almost expected for him to seek solace in infidelity due to his loneliness. But how could Kenneth be like this, too?'
However, the realization that Kenneth might also be straying shook Nora to her core. At that moment, she couldn't help but feel a sense of dread towards the institution of marriage.
"Nora, you've arrived," Kenneth greeted her, looking somewhat uncomfortable, immediately removing his arm from the secretary's shoulder.
Nora fought back her urge to laugh with a smile, her eyes shifting to the female secretary.
"Kenneth, who is this?" she asked, her tone casual.
The female secretary recognized Nora and felt a cold in her gaze. She quickly clarified, "Ms. Smith, please don't misunderstand. I'm just Mr. Hamilton's secretary; nothing is going on between us." As she spoke, she quickly stepped aside, distancing herself from Kenneth.
Nora remained silent, recalling Edric's first love, Anna, and the similarities between the two situations.
When Nora encountered Anna backstage during a performance, the latter also reassured her and clarified that she was only Edric's first love, with no romantic involvement between them.
"Kenneth, Why is your female secretary so insincere?" Nora remarked, her tone tinged with mockery.
The secretary was stunned, realizing that Nora was insulting her. She looked at Kenneth with a pitiful expression, feeling misunderstood.
She had a boyfriend and their relationship was excellent. They were about to get married. She didn't want to be accused of seducing her boss.
"Okay, you go ahead," Kenneth coughed lightly, signaling for the female secretary to leave.
She nodded in response and quickly exited.
After she left, Kenneth explained, "Nora, you have it all wrong. She's just my secretary."
Nora glanced at him skeptically. "Really? Do secretaries need to be that affectionate?" she questioned.
Kenneth felt a bit ashamed and embarrassed. "No, it's just that..." his words trailed off. He had acted impulsively earlier, hoping to make Sandy jealous. Who would have thought that he, as a successful CEO, would do something so childish?
"What's wrong? Can't continue?" Nora noticed his hesitation and frowned. "Kenneth, Sandy is pregnant. How could you do this? Aren't you afraid she'll develop prenatal depression after seeing this?"
At the mention of this, Kenneth's face paled. "She won't…" he refuted.
Nora raised an eyebrow. "She won't? How do you know she won't?" she questioned.
"Because she already has someone in her heart, she won't mind me." Kenneth thought of Zephyr, his face turning colder.
Nora was slightly startled, a glint of realization in her eyes. She sensed that Sandy harbored feelings for someone else, and she wondered if Kenneth was aware of it. Could his pursuit of other women be linked to this knowledge? Despite Sandy's current pregnancy, Nora believed that infidelity was unacceptable at this delicate time.
"Kenneth…" Nora began.
At that moment, Kenneth's phone rang.
Kenneth gestured with his hand. "You go inside; I'll take the call," he said.
Nora nodded and swallowed the words she wanted to say, entering the ward.
Inside, Sandy was poking at her food, chewing on it without much enthusiasm. When she saw Nora enter, she forced a smile and greeted her, "Nora, you're here."
"Sandy," Nora replied and sat next to Sandy, observing her expression.
Seeing that she didn't look her best, Nora first checked her pulse. It was weak, but overall, there weren't any significant issues.
Nora then withdrew her hand and, noticing that Sandy was eating, advised her, "Sandy, your spleen and stomach are a bit weak. Try not to be picky with your food and eat a little more."
Sandy smiled weakly and replied, "I know, but I just don't have much of an appetite. Have you eaten? If not, let's eat together." With that, she got up to get some utensils.
Nora quickly said, "You stay seated. I can handle it myself."
"It's no trouble; moving around a bit can help me build up some appetite,"Sandy reasoned, smiled, and brought Nora a new set of utensils.
"Thank you." Nora took the utensils and noticed that Sandy kept looking towards the door, her eyes flickering.
"Sandy, Kenneth is on the phone. The secretary has already left," Nora informed.
Sandy snapped back to attention and nodded, picking up the nearby water glass to take a sip.
Noticing her distraction, Nora couldn't help but ask, "Sandy, Kenneth said you have someone in your heart. What about you two..."
Hearing this, Sandy tightened her grip on the water glass. She fell silent for a moment and whispered, her eyes cast down, "He said he will divorce me after I give birth to the child."
Divorce? Nora was astonished. "How did you end up at the point of divorce?" she asked, concerned,
Sandy lifted her gaze, meeting Nora's clear eyes, and decided to disclose her real identity. "Nora, there is something that only your brother and my father, besides myself, are aware of."
Nora's heart skipped a beat, vaguely guessing what was coming next.
For certain, Sandy confessed, "The truth is, I'm not Sandy. I am Cora. That's why Zephyr keeps calling me Cora."
Although Nora was somewhat prepared, she was still shocked. "Sandy, what on earth is going on? If you're not Sandy, then how did you become Sandy?" she asked.
