Chapter 392 Is There a Disease?

Stov's body froze, blood pouring ceaselessly from his mouth and numerous wounds. His form wavered, teetering on the brink of collapse before finally surrendering to gravity.

As he lay on the ground, the remnants of his consciousness allowed him to slowly turn his head towards Emmeline, who was not far off. His hand reached out, yearning to touch her one last time.

But his final breath slipped away, his eyes widened in shock, and his hand fell to the ground with a dull thud. Death claimed him with his eyes still wide open.

At that moment, Ross and his men arrived, having dealt with the occupants of the castle. He commanded the remaining individuals to lay down their arms. Seeing Stov defeated, resistance ceased. The brutal battle had finally come to an end.

Aaron, who had taken refuge in a safe location, exhaled a sigh of relief. He observed Billy, still covering Millie's ears, and sighed softly. "Billy, it's over. You can put down your hands now." The little girl was now an orphan, her parents were gone from this world.

Billy lowered his hand, looking at Millie with a hesitant expression. "Millie..."

Millie, who had just uncovered her ears, was oblivious to the fact that her parents were no longer alive. "Billy, can I go find Mommy now?" she asked.

Billy nodded gently and took her hand.
Millie beamed, her short legs carrying her eagerly as she called out for her Mommy.

In the center of a nearby field, James cradled Emmeline's lifeless body, tears streaming down his face. "You foolish woman, why did you make me take the bullet? I don't need your kindness!"

His words fell on deaf ears. The only response was the ceaseless wind, rustling through her hair.

"Mommy!" Millie's voice echoed as she searched for Emmeline. Billy guided her towards James, with Aaron trailing behind them.

Ross approached and gave Aaron a slight nod before his gaze landed on Emmeline, his eyes filled with sympathy. His men had managed to rescue many women imprisoned here, but tragically, James' beloved was not among the survivors.

At that moment, Millie crouched down, peering at Emmeline in James' arms. "Uncle James, is Mommy sleeping?"

Her innocent question prompted James to look at her, his heart heavy with grief as he recalled Emmeline's final instructions. "Millie, your Mommy..." He faltered, unable to bear delivering the tragic news to the sweet child. A bitter taste filled his mouth, and he spat out a mouthful of blood.

Billy swiftly pulled Millie back to avoid the splatter.

James clung to Emmeline, his body shaking. His numerous gunshot wounds had been kept at bay by sheer willpower, but now that the conflict was over, his strength failed him. He collapsed with a loud thud. Ross rushed to his aid. "James, hold on, I'll take you to see a doctor."

James struggled to open his eyes, his gaze landing on Millie. "Ross, take care of Millie for me. And don't separate me from Emmeline; I want to take her back to our country!" His words were barely a whisper before he lost consciousness once more.

Ross sighed and ordered his men to carry James away.

As they couldn't pry Emmeline from James' tight grip, they carried them together. "Mommy."

Millie watched as they took her mother away, her heart filled with anxiety. She attempted to follow, but Billy quickly held her back. "Millie, listen to me. Your Mommy has gone to be with God; she will be watching over you from up above."

Millie's gaze held a vacant stare as the figure in front of her led her mother away. She turned her head slowly, her eyes brimming with tears as they rolled in their sockets.

"Bro, has my Mommy already died?"

Hearing this, Billy remained silent, a heavy sadness weighing on his heart.

"Mother told me that people only go to god after they die. Bro, why did Mommy die?"

At this, Millie's tears spilled over, her small body shaking with sobs. Billy, at a loss for words, could only reach out to wipe away her tears.

As Millie wept, her face suddenly drained of color and she fainted.

Billy, taken aback, nearly fell to the ground with her. Fortunately, Aaron, who was close by, managed to catch her just in time.

A worried look crossed Billy's face as he turned to Aaron. "Uncle Gordon, what's wrong with Millie?"

Aaron's brow furrowed as he checked her breathing. She was still breathing, but they didn't know why she fainted.

"Miss."

Just then, Ellie, who was being escorted by Ross's men, happened to pass by. Seeing Millie's unconscious form, she let out a cry.

Billy recognized her and informed Aaron, "Uncle Gordon, she's Millie's nanny."

Aaron remained silent for a moment before carrying Millie over to Ellie. "She fainted suddenly. Does she have any underlying health conditions?"

If there were no underlying conditions, it seemed impossible for her to faint without reason. Ellie's eyes welled up with tears as she revealed, "Madam was poisoned by Mr. Stov three years ago. As a result, Miss was born with poison in her system and requires regular medication."

So that was the reason! Mr. Stov, the monster, had caused so much damage. Aaron looked down at the little girl in his arms, his eyes filled with pity....

In Houston, at Star River Bay, the first light of dawn slowly rose in the east. It was a new day.

Nora had spent the entire night awake, anxiety gnawing at her. It wasn't until her phone rang and Aaron reported that Billy was safe that she felt a wave of relief wash over her.

"Billy is really okay!" she exclaimed.

"Yes, he's really fine. He's asleep now. We will take a helicopter back home later," Aaron said.

A smile appeared on Nora's face, and she replied, "That's great. And what about you? Are you injured?"

"Don't worry, I'm fine." Aaron comforted her.

After hanging up, Nora let out a deep sigh. Her tense nerves suddenly relaxed, leaving her feeling utterly drained. Rubbing her temples, she made her way to the bathroom to freshen up. As she splashed cold water on her tired face, she felt a slight sense of rejuvenation.

Despite Aaron's reassurances, she knew she wouldn't truly relax until she saw them both return safely. After finishing her morning routine, she headed downstairs to prepare breakfast.

At this moment, Carter had also woken up.

"Nora," Carter said hesitantly. Shee was aware of Billy's kidnapping and had barely slept all night.

Nora offered her a reassuring smile. "Grandma, Billy is fine. Thomas is bringing him back to the country."

Upon hearing this, Carter's eyes lit up. "Really?" she asked excitedly, her voice filled with hope.

"Yes."

"Thank God!" Carter clasped her hands together in silent prayer.

Nora noticed the pallor of Carter's complexion and realized that she must have spent the entire night awake, worried about Billy.

"Grandma, did you not sleep at all? You should rest. What will happen if your health worsens? I still need you to help look after the children in the future."

Hearing this, Carter nodded in agreement. "Okay, I will go to bed now." She wasn't as young as she used to be and couldn't handle staying up all night. Her worry for Billy had kept her awake, but now that she knew the child was safe, she could finally get some much-needed rest.

After accompanying Carter to her room, Nora decided to call the butler of the Gordon family.

"Dr. Smith, It's me. When Grandpa wakes up, let him know that Billy is fine and Aaron is bringing him back to the country." Nora said.
