Chapter 1047 The Amniotic Fluid Broke
Rafael looked really worried. He had planned everything but didn't expect the officials to show up so fast.
"Is my plan really going to fail?" he thought, trying to stay calm. "What can we do? My dad suddenly got sick, and Dr. Yanez found out he was cursed by Mateo. My mom, Miguel, and I were worried, so we had Dr. Yanez perform a ritual. But these Chrisland people interfered, causing the conflict."
Rafael was lying, but even if the officials suspected it, they couldn't prove it. Yandel was trusted by Tomas, so accusing him of conspiring with Rafael wouldn't make sense.
"Rafael, stop lying. We'll know the truth once Dad wakes up," Frederick said, having already rescued Mateo.
"Nora, Aaron," Mateo greeted them.
Seeing Nora's pregnant belly, Mateo looked sorry. "Sorry for dragging you into this."
"Are you okay?" Nora asked.
"I'm fine."
"Then I'll start treating Tomas."
"Okay."
With Aaron's help, Nora approached Tomas. Rafael wanted to stop her but couldn't with everyone watching.
Rafael still hoped Nora's skills would fail, that she wouldn't diagnose Tomas correctly or wake him up.
Mateo stood by Tomas's bed. "Father, hold on. Nora's here; you'll be saved."
Tomas lay there, barely breathing.
Nora checked his pulse. It was very weak; he needed immediate treatment.
She quickly started inserting silver needles into his acupuncture points. But as she inserted the second needle, she felt a sharp pain in her abdomen.
Nora paused, her face changing. 'No way! I'm having contractions! I'm about to give birth!' she thought.
Aaron noticed her expression. "Honey, is your stomach hurting?"
Nora gritted her teeth, shook her head, and kept working on Tomas. She silently prayed, 'Baby, hold on a bit longer.'
Tomas was in critical condition, and a few needles wouldn't be enough. Despite the pain, Nora continued.
With just three needles left, she felt a warm gush. Her water had broken.
"Nora!" Mateo was shocked, staring at the wet patch forming on the floor.
Aaron's face changed too. He knew this meant Nora was about to give birth. He was so nervous he couldn't speak, just looked at the medical staff.
The medical staff quickly stepped in to support Nora. "Mr. Gordon, Mrs. Gordon is about to give birth. Find a clean place for her!"
Aaron, sweating and tense, looked at Mateo. "Get a room ready, now!"
Mateo called a guard and gave instructions.
Nora finished the last needle, exhausted. 'This baby is really eager to come out. At least I finished the needles; Tomas should wake up soon,' she thought.
Supporting her waist, Nora stayed calm. "Mateo, stay here and don't let anyone touch Tomas. I'll be back after giving birth."
Mateo was stunned. 'Is that even possible? Come back after giving birth? Nora is really pushing herself!' he thought.
"Okay. Nora, take it slow! Don't worry, I've got the doctors ready; everything will be fine," Mateo said nervously.
Nora felt her contractions coming fast and knew she was about to give birth. Too tired to speak, she waved at Mateo and looked at Aaron. "Honey, I'm about to give birth. Carry me."
Aaron, tense and sweating, scooped her up without a word.
With the medical staff, they quickly headed to the delivery area. Aaron was so nervous he could barely walk straight.
Seeing his tension, Nora tried to comfort him. "Don't be nervous, relax. This isn't my first time giving birth; I have experience."
"But it's my first time having a baby," Aaron said hoarsely.
Nora laughed. "What do you mean it's your first time having a baby?"
"It's my first time being with you during childbirth. Honey, you're amazing," Aaron finally said, calming down a bit.
Nora hummed in response, too tired to joke. As the pain hit again, she bit her lip to keep from crying out, not wanting to scare Aaron. Her face turned pale.
The group quickly left Tomas's chamber. Rafael watched, feeling a mix of schadenfreude and glee.
'Nora is giving birth now and said she'd come back to save Tomas. Tomas is on the brink of death. Can he hold on until she's done?' Rafael thought.
He looked at Tomas, then at Mateo. "Mateo, our father is in critical condition. Why not let Dr. Yanez treat him?"
Rafael's plan was to have Yandel give Tomas a lethal dose, then blame Nora. That way, Mateo, Nora, and the others would be doomed, and the throne would be his.
Yandel caught Rafael's look and understood. "Mateo, step aside and let me treat Tomas."
"Stop right there!" Mateo said firmly. "You still want to treat my father, Yandel? If you were any good, how did he suddenly fall ill? He's been taking your supplements all along!"
