Chapter 998 Was I Suitable for You?
Rafael quickly remembered working with Gabriella. She seemed hesitant to help him get the confidential documents. Then, Rafael recalled Miguel mentioning seeing Gabriella and Johnnie cozy at the nightclub. Rafael's face darkened. Maybe he was too arrogant, too trusting of Gabriella. Maybe his team's suspicions were right. The documents were fake. Gabriella had tricked him.
If she hadn't, she would've claimed her reward by now. Gabriella wouldn't ditch being Miguel's wife for a small assistant like Johnnie! That had to be it! Rafael punched the sofa, a ruthless glint in his eyes. He thought, 'Gabriella, how dare she! She actually fooled me! I will destroy her!'
Gabriella had no clue Rafael blamed her for everything. She and Johnnie were still enjoying their romance. After seeing off a client, she took Johnnie to tour Hchilia. They enjoyed their relationship like a normal couple.
A week later, Aaron and Nora arrived in Hchilia with Billy and Samantha. They stayed at Hugo's place. Johnnie then introduced Gabriella to Aaron and Nora. Seeing them holding hands, Aaron and Nora got it. Johnnie and Gabriella were a real couple now.
But Aaron still asked, "Johnnie, why are you with her?"
Johnnie replied, "Mr. Gordon, Mrs. Gordon, Gabriella is my girlfriend now, and we hope for your blessing."
Aaron raised an eyebrow at Gabriella. "If she truly cares for you, I'll bless you both."
Gabriella pouted. "Mr. Gordon, are you saying I have ulterior motives? Trying to stir things up?"
Aaron smirked. "Not at all, but I consider Johnnie a friend and want him to be happy."
Gabriella smiled. "You just want to say I'm not right for him, huh?"
Aaron also smiled. "What I think doesn't matter; it's up to Johnnie. If he thinks you're right for him, then you are."
Gabriella looked at Johnnie and asked, "Johnnie, do you think I'm right for you?"
Johnnie didn't answer directly but interlocked his fingers with hers. "Mr. Gordon, please bless us."
Nora laughed. "Alright, Aaron, stop teasing them. Johnnie, we wish you both the best."
Gabriella sighed, "Nora is the best! Nora, give me a hug." She hugged Nora. Nora smiled and hugged her back. She hoped Gabriella had let go of her grievances and would have a good life with Johnnie.
"Nora, I'm sorry for before. Please forgive me," Gabriella apologized.
Nora smiled. "Alright, I forgive you."
"Nora is the best." Gabriella hugged her and gave Aaron a sidelong glance. Seeing her hands on Nora, Aaron said, "That's enough." Gabriella was clearly trying to provoke him.
"So what if I hug Nora?" Gabriella challenged.
Aaron met her gaze and snorted. Gabriella rolled her eyes and let go of Nora. "Nora, I've got a few pimples. You're a miracle doctor; got any ointment?"
Nora replied, "Not right now, but I can make some for you."
"Great." Gabriella was thrilled and pulled Nora to sit on the sofa. "You're pregnant, take a seat, don't overdo it."
Nora said, "I'm fine, not that fragile. But you look a bit worn out."
Gabriella glanced at Johnnie and said, "Johnnie's been too aggressive in bed."
Nora laughed and whispered, "Been there, I get it."
Gabriella's eyes lit up. "Right! They're all the same."
"Totally."
Watching them whisper, Aaron raised an eyebrow at Johnnie. "Has she really let go?"
Johnnie smirked. "She should have. If not, her acting is top-notch."
Aaron patted his shoulder. "Not bad."
Johnnie's eyes hinted at a smile. Then, he said seriously, "Mr. Gordon, I heard Rafael's secret base was destroyed."
Aaron nodded. "Mateo told me. But Rafael found a scapegoat."
Johnnie frowned. "Mateo can play the recording I made of Gabriella and Rafael's conversation to King Tomas. He'll understand."
Aaron said, "Mateo did that. But a recording isn't enough to convict Rafael without solid evidence. However, King Tomas is aware and has stripped Rafael of real power. Now, Rafael and Miguel have minor roles, while Mateo holds significant power and is the de facto leader of the Royal family."
Johnnie nodded. "They brought this on themselves."
"Indeed."
Aaron glanced at Gabriella, still chatting with Nora. "Johnnie, Rafael probably knows the documents are fake and might blame Gabriella. Be extra careful of his revenge."
Johnnie's face turned serious. "I understand. You and Mrs. Gordon should also be careful."
"Yes."
As they talked, Hugo returned. "Mr. Gordon, Dr. Smith, you're here!"
"Mr. Rochet, we're here to bother you again," Aaron said with a smile.
"Not at all. It's a good chance for Dr. Smith to check Ms. Everhart's progress and my health," Hugo said.
Nora smiled and gestured for Hugo to sit, then began to check his pulse. Seraphina stood by, nervously watching Nora, worried she might mess up.
After checking his pulse, Nora withdrew her hand. "You’re in good health. Seraphina has done a great job, keep it up."
Seraphina sighed in relief. "I'll keep working hard."
Hugo was pleased and joked, "I hope under Mr. Everhart's treatment, I can soon have triplets like Dr. Smith."
Aaron raised an eyebrow. "That's not something you can just wish for. Excellent genes like mine are rare."
