Chapter 356 The Token of My Love for You
"Luna, stay here and learn from Ms. Smith. I need to engage in a discussion with someone," Timothy instructed Luna.
Luna's eyebrow arched in question, "You want me to learn from her?"
Timothy, with a hint of provocation, replied, "Yes, aren't you curious about the attributes Ms. Smith possesses that have captured Gary's interest?" Luna rolled her eyes, conceding, "Fine."
A satisfied smirk played on Timothy's lips as he turned to Nora, "Dr. Smith, I apologize once more. My sister has been overly indulged by our family. However, she is not inherently bad; I trust you can impart some lessons on decorum to her."Nora responded with a chuckle, "Timothy, you hold me in high regard."
Timothy subtly complimented her, "No, you are truly capable," before making his exit.
Luna pouted, "Timothy, your hypocrisy knows no bounds; observe how he lavishes praise upon you."Nora raised an eyebrow, "Oh, so you believe I am undeserving of such praise? In that case, you are free to leave."
Luna was taken aback, her gaze landing on Nora's serene and beautiful visage, she snorted slightly. "I have no intention of leaving. I am eager to hear your tale of resurgence after being abandoned by a jerk."
Nora laughed lightly, "Are you casting me in the role of a raconteur?" Luna's eyes darted around, a hint of discomfort creeping in as she managed to utter, "Could you possibly instruct me on how to make Gary fall for me?"
Nora laughed again, "Luna, you hold me in high esteem. I have already admitted to my poor judgment and susceptibility to deceit by rascals. Are you still bold enough to seek my counsel?" Luna fell silent, her lips forming a pout.Nora's eyes sparkled as she spoke, "However, I must confess, I was simply too good for that scoundrel. He was the recipient of my undivided attention and affection, which led him to take my kindness for granted. This resulted in him belittling me and seeking thrill with other women."
Luna felt a sense of kinship with Nora and inquired, "Are all men truly so despicable?"Nora responded, "Not necessarily, but many men do harbor such a mindset. Have you not heard the saying? The unattainable is always enticing, and the favored feels invincible. Some people fail to appreciate what they possess and instead choose to chase after the elusive. Only upon losing it do they comprehend their folly." Luna pondered over Nora's words.Observing the two women bonding, Evella interjected, "Nora, Luna, why don't we find a more comfortable spot to continue our conversation rather than standing here?"
Nora agreed, "That sounds agreeable." She had been on her feet for a considerable duration and was beginning to feel fatigued. Luna accompanied her to a secluded corner, her voice barely above a whisper as she shared her thoughts."I have always held Gary in high regard, treating him with utmost kindness, yet he does not reciprocate my feelings. Do you suppose if I were to treat him harshly and then abandon him, he might fall for me?" Nora was taken aback by Luna's line of thought. Luna's thought process was certainly unconventional!Meanwhile, on the other side, three children were engaged in play on the lawn. "I'm Ryan, what's your name?"
A boy of six or seven years, clad in a petite black suit and with skin as fair as jade, stood before Samantha like a miniature gentleman.
"I'm Samantha; my family calls me Sama," Samantha replied in her innocent, childlike voice.
"This is for you." Ryan unclasped a radiant, translucent gemstone necklace from around his neck and presented it to Samantha.
Samantha, her large eyes blinking in surprise, questioned in a childlike tone, "Why are you offering this to me?" "Because I like you," Ryan responded, presenting the necklace to Samantha. "My Grandma told me it's meant to be given to a girl I like. So, please, accept it."Samantha cocked her head, her gaze fixed on the necklace. A memory stirred within her; in kindergarten, boys who had taken a liking to her would offer candies and pastries, but a necklace was an unprecedented gift. Observing Samantha's contemplative silence, Ryan offered, "I'll help you put it on."Samantha shook her head, her voice laced with concern, "No, isn't this rather expensive?"Ryan dismissed her worry with a wave of his hand, "It's fine; my family is well-off. Wear it. It's a symbol of my affection for you, and someday, I'll marry you."At that moment, Alex and Billy happened upon the scene. Overhearing Ryan's declaration, their faces darkened, and they hurriedly approached. Alex swiftly pulled Samantha behind him, returning the necklace to Ryan. "What do you think you're doing? How dare you bother my sister?" he demanded.Billy, too, regarded Ryan with a wary eye. Ryan, taken aback, glanced between the two, "You two look identical.""Ryan, these are my brothers, Alex and Billy. We're triplets," Samantha clarified, her voice sweet and innocent as she peeked out from behind Alex.Ryan nodded in understanding, "I wasn't bothering Samantha, I was merely giving her a gift.""No need," Alex retorted, his tone stern.Billy chimed in, "Yeah, my sister doesn't need a gift from a creep like you."Ryan's anxiety was palpable as he defended himself, "I'm not a creep."Billy challenged him, "You dare to say you're not a creep? How old are you? And you're talking about giving my sister a token of affection and marrying her in the future?"Ryan stuttered, "But that's how it's done in TV shows, right?"Alex shot him a disdainful look, "You're a boy, you should spend less time watching TV and more time learning real skills."In a panic, Ryan quickly retorted, "I am learning real skills."Billy raised an eyebrow, "What have you learned?""I've learned everything," Ryan replied, his face falling. "My mom is very strict. After school, I have to learn various skills. On weekends, while others are playing, I have to attend extracurricular classes and have no time for fun."Samantha looked at him sympathetically, "Ryan, that's so unfortunate. Thankfully, our mom is more open-minded and doesn't force us to learn things like that."A flash of envy crossed Ryan's face, "You guys are so lucky."Billy glared at him, "You're lying. If you're so busy, how do you find time to watch TV and learn such things?"Ryan scratched his head, "I didn't lie. I secretly watched TV with my Grandmother during break time and learned it that way."Samantha stepped out from behind Alex, "Alright, guys, stop grilling him like he's a criminal. Let's play together."Ryan nodded enthusiastically, his eyes sparkling with anticipation."What do you want to play?" Billy asked."I saw a dog in the backyard, it's so cute. Let's go feed it," Samantha suggested in her sweet voice."Okay, let's go," Ryan agreed, reaching for her small hand.Alex and Billy frowned, swiftly intervening to separate the two."Don't touch my sister," they warned.Ryan trailed behind the protective brothers, scratching his head as he watched Samantha, her hair in buns and dressed in a white princess gown, walking with a childlike grace.A cold wind blew, causing her to shiver."Oh dear, it's so cold," she exclaimed.
