Chapter 522 Do You Believe I Left Home
The door closed, and Aaron looked at Nora in silence.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Nora asked.
"Nora, would you comfort my wounded soul?" Aaron replied.
"Your heart isn't fragile at all, but..." Nora began, her thoughts about Aaron temporarily distracted her, "I misunderstood you. I'm sorry, okay?" Nora gently reassured him.
Raising an eyebrow, Aaron said, "I don't want your apology."
Nora inquired, "Then what do you want?"
"I want you to hug me," Aaron responded.
"I owe you," Nora said before turning to leave.
Aaron smiled and pulled her into his arms. "You can repay me right now, so why say you owe me?" he remarked.
Nora thought, 'As long as he doesn't kiss me, I'll let him hold me.'
Aaron's phone rang, and Nora took the opportunity to push him away, saying, "Answer the call."
Aaron checked his phone; it was a call from the Hamilton Manor.
"Who's calling so early?" Nora asked, curious.
Aaron replied, "Your grandfather."
Nora was surprised, listening to their conversation.
"I promised Mr. Hamilton Senior to bring the children back this morning. He's quite impatient," Aaron said.
He answered the call, "Good morning, Grandpa Adelbert."
"Are the kids awake? When can I pick them up?" Adelbert asked directly.
Aaron chuckled, and replied, "It's only seven, they're still asleep. Should I wake them up now?"
"No, call me when they're up, and I'll come to get them," Adelbert hurriedly replied.
"Remember, call me as soon as they wake up," Adelbert reminded.
Aaron smiled, and said, "I got it."
Nora, hearing their conversation, was bewildered.
'I'd better keep my distance from the children now. So it's good to let them stay at the Hamilton Manor for a while,' Nora thought.
So, she said, "Grandpa, are you coming to pick up the children later?"
Adelbert replied, "Yes."
"Then let them stay at the Hamilton Manor for this time," Nora suggested. Aaron glanced at Nora, knowing she was worried about the children.
"All right, so it'll be just the two of us at home? This house will be ours alone," Aaron said.
Nora walked downstairs, and inquired, "Aren't you going back to Houston?"
Aaron replied, "No, I want to be with you."
"I don't need your company, go back," Nora insisted.
"But I just want to be with you," Aaron said.
Nora stopped and turned to look at Aaron, saying, "Aaron, if you don't listen to me, I swear that I'll leave you. Do you believe that?"
Aaron's eyes flashed with a smile, "Okay, I'll do as you say!"
Nora had lost her trust in him. She took out her phone and started recording.
"Say what you just said again, I'll have evidence," Nora said.
Aaron was stunned and couldn't help but laugh. "My dear Dr. Smith, why so serious?" he remarked.
"Say it, please," Nora said, not allowing Aaron to refuse.
Aaron nodded and said, "Okay, I'll do as you say!"
Satisfied, Nora put away her phone and went downstairs.
Around eight o'clock, the children woke up and came downstairs after getting ready. Samantha, in her light yellow pajamas, ran downstairs.
Seeing Erin sitting on the sofa, she asked in a childish voice, "Erin, when did you wake up? Why didn't I know?"
Erin looked up, somewhat helpless, and didn't say anything. Instead, she moved a little closer to Alex.
Alex, looking at the careless Samantha, muttered, "Arrogant."
Samantha paused, "Alex, are you calling me arrogant?"
Alex replied, "Yes."
Samantha questioned, "Why do you think I'm arrogant? In what way am I arrogant?"
Alex said coldly, "You're arrogant in your diet, clothing, and sleep."
Samantha stared in disbelief, "Alex, have I offended you in the past few days?"
Alex replied, "No."
Samantha asked, "Then why do you say I'm arrogant?"
Alex responded, "Because, that's why."
Samantha insisted, "Don't bully me, tell me why you called me domineering."
Alex said, "Figure it out yourself."
Samantha said, "I can't!"
Alex replied, "Then don't think about it!"
Samantha retorted, "I'll just assume you're crazy!"
Alex said, "You're really vulgar."
Samantha shot back, "Even if I'm vulgar, I'm still your sister!"
Alex was speechless.
Watching Samantha and Alex argue, Nora, sitting in the distance, couldn't help but laugh.
Samantha didn't understand Alex's words, but Nora knew what he meant.
Alex was hinting at Samantha about last night when she pushed Erin off the bed. Samantha was clueless, not knowing anything.
After all, what happens in sleep is not something she can control.
At this moment, Nora's phone received a video call request. Nora glanced at it; it was a call from Matthew. Nora quickly answered. Matthew's clean and handsome face appeared on the screen.
"Good morning, Dr. Smith, I hope I'm not disturbing you?" Matthew greeted.
"Not at all," Nora quickly replied.
"Is Erin awake?" Matthew asked.
Nora asked, "Yes, would you like to talk to her?"
Nora handed the phone to Aaron, who then passed it to Erin. Erin, with a smile on her fair face, took the phone.
"Erin, did you sleep well last night?" Matthew asked with a smile. Erin glanced at Alex and nodded.
Matthew raised an eyebrow, and curiously asked, "Who are you looking at?"
Erin turned the phone, showing Alex on the screen.
Alex felt a bit awkward but still greeted Matthew politely. He said, "Uncle Matthew, good morning."
"Alex, good morning," Matthew greeted. He smiled slightly and asked, "Has Erin been talking at your place?"
Alex hesitated for a moment and then nodded, "Yes, she has."
Alex thought, 'But she only talked to me.'
Matthew was pleased, and requested, "Alex, I hope you can help Erin become like a normal girl, happy and talkative."
Alex frowned slightly, wondering, 'How did making Erin change become my task?'
"Alex, don't you want to? I'm sorry, I thought you and Erin were already friends," Matthew said, seeing Alex's expression.
"I do," Alex quickly replied.
Matthew praised, "That's good."
Matthew smiled and said to Erin, "Erin, give the phone to Aunt Nora."
Erin nodded and glanced at Aaron.
Aaron took the phone, glanced at the screen, and greeted Matthew. "Mr. Jones, good morning," Aaron said.
Matthew greeted back, "Good morning, Mr. Gordon."
After they finished, Aaron handed the phone to Nora.
At this point, someone had come to pick up the children.
Nora said to Matthew, "Mr. Jones, can Erin stay with Alex and the others at the Hamilton Manor for a few days?"
"Sure," Matthew agreed.
Nora said to Alex, "Alex, take good care of Erin at Great-grandpa's house, okay?"
"I will," Alex replied.
Erin waved goodbye to Nora with a smile and then walked out of the villa hand in hand with Alex.
