Chapter 1003 Wanting to Skip School
'Jasmine agreed!‘James smiled, feeling relieved. His desire reignited.
Watching Jasmine, his breathing grew heavier. Without a word, he pushed her onto the bed and kissed her.
Jasmine pulled back slightly. "James, were you serious about what you just said?"
"What?"
"That you'd marry me?"
'So she remembered that?'James met her hopeful eyes and smiled. "Yes."
"Do you still see me as a stand-in for Emmeline?"
James' smile faded. He looked deeply at her. "Jasmine, I won't lie. Emmeline's memory is still strong, but I swear I'll be devoted to you. I won't cheat, emotionally or physically. I'll be loyal to you."
Jasmine felt a pang of disappointment. She wished he'd lie and say he loved her now. Women did love sweet lies, after all.
Her enthusiasm cooled. "I'm tired. Move over, I want to sleep."
James didn't budge. "Are you upset?"
Jasmine turned away, silent.
James sighed. "Jasmine, what do you want me to say? I gave my first time to you. Isn't that enough?"
Jasmine was stunned. "You and Emmeline never...?"
James coughed. "Now you know what a well-behaved man I am."
Jasmine's mood lifted a bit.
She couldn't have his heart, but at least she had his body.
She teased, "Oh, so you're still a virgin. No wonder you were so rough!"
James looked uncomfortable.
"So, are you ashamed this virgin was with you?"
Jasmine laughed. "You're usually so quiet. Didn't expect you to be chatty in bed!"
James raised an eyebrow. "I hadn't found someone worth talking to."
"And now?"
"I have."
Jasmine smiled.'Forget it, no one's perfect. She isn't exactly pure either.James never minds my past with Hugo, so why should I care if he sees me as a substitute? As long as he keeps his promise to love me, that is enough.'
With her worries eased, Jasmine's mood brightened. She lifted her face, responding to James, and they explored ecstasy together again.
The next day, Millie didn't want to go to school.
She clutched her belly and leaned into Aaron's arms, whining. "Daddy, my tummy hurts. I need a day off."
Aaron frowned, worried. "Why does your tummy hurt? Honey, come take a look."
Nora, alarmed, quickly took Millie onto her lap.
"Why does your tummy hurt? Did you eat too much last night?"
Millie, Billy, and Samantha had stayed up late playing since they hadn't seen each other in a while. Aisha, worried they might get hungry, brought them a bunch of snacks.
Nora took Millie's hand to check her. No issues.
"Millie, how exactly does your tummy hurt?" Nora asked.
Millie blinked, avoiding eye contact. "It just hurts. I have no energy, can't walk, and can't go to school."
Nora saw through her. Millie probably just wanted to stay home and play with Billy and Samantha.
Nora smiled and said, "Then I'll give you an injection, and you'll be fine in no time."
Millie looked at Aaron with big eyes. "Daddy, see? Mommy wants to give me an injection, so I must be really sick. I don't have to go to school, right?"
Aaron usually spoiled her, but he caught on too. "Once you get the injection, you'll be fine and can go to school. Trust Nora's skills."
Millie's face fell. She looked to Billy for help. "Billy, Samantha, I don't want to go to school. I want to play with you."
Finally, she admitted it.
Billy patted her head. "Good kids shouldn't skip school. Just a few more days until vacation."
Their school back home was already on break, but not here.
"Alright, Billy, don't forget to pick me up after school. You promised to make Randall see ghosts in broad daylight."
Reluctantly, Millie agreed to go to school, trusting Billy.
"Don't worry, a man keeps his word," Billy assured her.
After breakfast, the adults watched Millie head to school.
As the car left, Billy turned to Nora. "Mommy, I need to borrow your injection needles this afternoon."
Nora raised an eyebrow. "Why do you need my needles?"
Billy puffed out his chest. "To make Randall see ghosts in broad daylight."
Nora coughed. "Billy, using needles wrong can be dangerous. Find another way to play."
Billy grinned. "Mommy, don't worry. I've learned from you and know how to use them. Trust me."
Nora chuckled. "I believe you're smart, but you've never actually treated anyone."
Billy smirked. "Who says I haven't?"
Nora was surprised. "You have?"
Billy nodded. "Of course!"
