Chapter 120 Can I Call You Dad?
Nora paused in her tracks and turned to look at Aaron.
"Mr. Gordon, I don't like womanizers, and you men are all the same!"
Nora walked away quickly.
Aaron's expression darkened.
Was she lumping him in with man like Lucas?
He had slept with just one woman, and that wasn’t even intentional.
Did that make him a womanizer?
Outside, Nora took a few deep breaths after drinking half a glass of water to slowly calm herself down.
Nora was busy preparing herself internally, and only when it was time for the acupuncture session did she go inside to remove Aaron's needles.
Seeing her composed, Aaron suppressed his emotions and explained, "Nora, that was an accident. I don't have feelings for Sunny, and it won't happen again."
Nora removed the needles one by one. She didn’t look up.
"Why are you telling me this? I've told you I'm not interested in your personal affairs."
Aaron's eyes fixed steadily on her.
After she removed the last needle, she finally looked up at him. "There, you can put up with being in this room for two more days. After the weekend move, you can go back to your own big house."
Tomorrow was Friday, and after she bought furniture on Saturday, they would each go their own way!
That way, her emotions wouldn't be influenced by him anymore!
Nora packed up her acupuncture kit and left.
Aaron stared at the closed door, his lips pressed together thinly.
Did she really not understand what he was saying to her?
Her hurry to get him back to his own place—was it because she was afraid of falling for him?
She was definitely jealous!
Jealous of him and Sunny!
With that thought, a smirk curled the corner of Aaron's lips.
He wasn't in a rush; he would make her come to him willingly!
The next morning, Aaron woke up and got himself into his wheelchair to handle some work.
The door opened, and Samantha peeked in. "Mr. Gordon, are you awake?"
Watching Samantha rush toward him, Aaron set aside the laptop from his lap and reached out to embrace her.
Samantha giggled and planted two good morning kisses on his cheek.
Aaron found her more endearing by the day.
He ran his fingers through her soft hair, beginning to braid it as he'd grown accustomed to doing.
Leaning against him, Samantha fiddled with her fingers.
"Mr. Gordon, why haven't you and Mommy grown closer yet?"
Aaron's brow quirked at the question. "Why do you ask?"
Blinking innocently, Samantha said, "Because I asked Mommy last night. She told me and my brothers that she doesn't like you!"
Did she just say that to the kids?
It did sound like something a woman who often said the opposite of what she felt would do.
After finishing one braid, he started on the other.
"Samantha, you're still a kid. There's a lot about adults you don't understand. Women like your mom often speak in reverse. If she says she doesn't like me, it means she does. Your mom likes me."
Her eyes sparkled at his words. "Really? Mr. Gordon, does my mommy really like you?"
"Your mom definitely likes me."
At the door, Nora blushed when she overheard the conversation. A look of speechlessness showed on her face.
This man had some nerve!
And her daughter was all too willing to believe him!
Nora exhaled heavily and turned to leave.
Now wasn't the time to go in; it would only be awkward for both of them.
Inside, Samantha touched her neatly tied braids, looking up at Aaron. "Mr. Gordon, since you and Mommy like each other, can you be my daddy?"
Be her dad!
He liked the sound of that!
Aaron's lips curled into a smile. "I can."
The light in Samantha’s eyes brightened. "Then can I secretly call you daddy just for now?"
He chuckled, "Sure."
"Daddy!"
Samantha lunged into his embrace.
Aaron felt his heart warm as if soaked in honey, almost as if she truly was his own daughter.
"Daddy, can I call you that when we're alone?"
She looked up at him with shiny, hopeful eyes.
Patting her head, he nodded with a smile, "Yes."
That was when Noe arrived.
He knocked on the door downstairs and greeted Aaron.
Nora followed behind him, scooping Samantha up as she entered.
Noe noticed that Nora was ignoring Aaron and frowned in confusion.
Something seemed off between Nora and Mr. Gordon.
Could they have had another quarrel?
What had changed overnight?
However, Aaron remained calm, exiting the room in his wheelchair to join his three kids for a meal.
Samantha was buzzing with excitement today after surreptitiously calling Aaron "Daddy," stealing glances at him every now and then.
Aaron was fully aware, attentively ensuring she ate her breakfast.
Though Nora had her suspicions, she didn't dwell on them.
After all, her daughter had already switched allegiances.
After breakfast, when Nora was about to take the three kids to school, Noe quickly offered, "Nora, let me do the drop-off."
"It’s okay. I'm free today; I'll take them."
Nora declined the offer and prepared to leave with the kids.
Noe looked over at Aaron, who seemed indifferent and didn't object.
"Alright, grab your stuff and let's head out." Nora picked up her belongings and led the way out the door.
Alex and Billy said goodbye to Aaron and Noe before following Nora out.
As Samantha passed by Aaron, she whispered, "See you tonight, Daddy."
Aaron felt a softness in his heart and gestured an "OK" with his hand.
With the four gone, Noe ventured, "Mr. Gordon, is Nora upset?"
Aaron grunted and burst out, "She's jealous."
So that's it! Something must have happened at last night's party!
"Mr. Gordon, you really should sweet-talk Nora a bit."
Aaron gave him a sidelong glance. "You seem to know a lot!"
Noe chuckled dryly to himself, wishing he didn't—but fearing a tiff between the two could backfire on him.
So, he could only remind Mr. Gordon to keep Nora happy.
"Go get some dresses that young girls might like."
Aaron instructed, planning to win over the people around Nora, making them allies.
That would make everything else much easier!
Nora had a busy morning at the hospital, compiling all the data.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we should be able to wrap up the first phase of our research this afternoon. Starting next week, we will move to the lab to begin animal testing."
Howard's gaze swept the group. "Hands-on experience is crucial. Don't slack off."
Everyone agreed, including Nora, who took a deep breath when she caught Howard's look.
As soon as this research project was over, she'd sever ties with everyone related to Aaron.
She didn't want to be seen as a thorn in anyone's eyes.
In the afternoon, Nora got a phone call from the kids' teacher.
"Is this Samantha's mother? Your children got into a fight with some other kids. Please come to here immediately!"
"What? My kids were fighting?" Nora's heart tightened, "I'll be right there!"
