Chapter 496 You Don't Have to Slander Me.
Hearing Sandy's words, Kenneth stared at Suzy, asking, "Why did you lift Mom's oxygen mask? Why would you do that? Don't you want Mom to live?"
His voice was cold, exuding a daunting aura.
Suzy became nervous and unconsciously swallowed.
"Kenneth, don't slander me! I... I did it because I saw Mom's eyelids move, and I thought she was waking up, so I..." she replied.
Her gaze was mysterious, but in a fleeting glance, she noticed Emma, who had been unconscious on the hospital bed, slowly opening her eyes.
Panic surged in Suzy's heart, and she shouted, "Mom, Mom!"
She actually woke up!
Kenneth and Sandy followed her gaze and saw Emma awake, filling them with immense joy.
"Mom, you're awake! How do you feel?" Kenneth quickly sat by the bed and held her hand, inquiring.
Emma had just woken up, still a bit dizzy, and remained silent.
"Kenneth, I'll go call the doctor," Sandy informed.
Sandy and Kenneth exchanged a glance; then, she swiftly left the ward.
Suzy's face turned pale as she watched Emma open her eyes, her mind blank.
Emma had awakened, and the truth was about to be revealed. What should she do?
Soon, Sandy summoned the on-duty doctor, who began examining Emma.
Kenneth stood by, embracing Sandy, quietly awaiting the results.
Before long, the doctor finished the examination.
"Mr. Hamilton, your mother is now out of danger. She needs to stay in the hospital for observation for a while," the doctor said.
"Thank you," Kenneth replied, sighed in relief, and thanked the doctor.
Sandy went to see the doctor off from the ward while Kenneth then sat by the bed, holding Emma's hand.
"Mom, how are you feeling now?" he asked.
Emma, still wearing the oxygen mask, stared at him and moved her lips.
Seeing that she wanted to speak, Kenneth reached out and removed the oxygen mask for her.
Emma's voice was weak. "What's happening to me?" she asked.
Hearing this, Kenneth was surprised and asked, "Mom, you don't remember anything?"
Emma slowly shook her head, her eyes filled with confusion.
Kenneth furrowed his brow, a thought crossing his mind. 'Could Mom have amnesia?' he wondered.
"Mom, do you remember who I am?" he added.
Emma looked at him and spoke softly, "I'm not foolish; you're my son, Kenneth."
"It seems like Mom recognizes people; that's a relief," Kenneth said and sighed in relief.
Suzy, who was standing aside, felt a wave of panic and nervousness, wanting to escape.
But seeing that Emma seemed to have amnesia, a glimmer of hope remained in her eyes, and she quickly asked, "Kenneth, what's wrong with Mom? She doesn't remember anything?"
Kenneth didn't reply to her. Instead, he spoke gently to Emma, "Mom, it's all right now. You just woke up, don't think about anything. Just rest well."
He stood up, preparing to go find the doctor and inquire about Emma's condition.
Sandy had just seen the doctor off and noticed Kenneth heading toward the door. She glanced at him with curiosity.
Kenneth took Sandy's hand and walked out, saying, "Mom might have amnesia. I'm going to find the doctor and ask about her condition."
"What? Amnesia!" Sandy hesitated for a moment, then walked out of the ward and called Nora to inform her about Emma's current situation.
Inside the ward, Suzy cried tears of joy and said, "Mom, you're finally awake! You scared me."
Fortunately, although Emma had regained consciousness, she didn't remember anything!
"Suzy, what happened to me? Why am I in the hospital?" Emma asked weakly.
Suzy's gaze shifted slightly as she tentatively asked, "Mom, you really don't remember anything?"
Emma shook her head.
Suzy had an idea and then said, "Mom, it was Sandy, not her; she's not Sandy; she's Cora; Cora is the one who harmed you!"
She wanted to shift all the blame onto Sandy!
"Who is Cora?" Emma asked in confusion.
Suzy explained, "She is another daughter of the Hernandez family. Because she is a jinx, the Hernandez family has been secretly raising her outside."
Suzy continued, "Mom, the truth is, the real Sandy is already dead. Cora took Sandy's place and married Kenneth."
Suzy added, "She has brought misfortune to her mother since birth, causing the death of her mother. Now, she is married to Kenneth and has started bringing misfortune to the Hamilton family. It was because of her that you fell down the stairs."
"What!" Emma's eyes widened in disbelief, and they shouted.
Her chest heaved, wanting to say something, but she had just regained consciousness, and her body was extremely weak. Overwhelmed by Suzy's words, she couldn't catch her breath and fainted.
Sandy, who had just finished the phone call, pushed the door open and was startled by the sound of the heart rate monitor.
Seeing Emma suddenly faint, she panicked and rushed in, pulling Suzy away and starting CPR for Emma.
Suzy stared at Sandy's back, coldly smiling.
Since Sandy had just dared to betray Kenneth, now that Emma had awakened and forgotten how she fell down the stairs, Suzy would conveniently shift all the blame onto Sandy.
Knowing Emma's temperament, she would definitely treat Sandy as a jinx, and then Suzy could use Emma to drive Sandy out of the Hamilton family!
Sandy watched as Emma's heart rate slowly returned to normal on the ECG monitor, and she sighed in relief.
Sandy helped Emma put on the oxygen mask, wiped the sweat from her forehead, and turned to look at Suzy with a scrutinizing gaze.
"Suzy, did you just upset Mom?" she asked.
Suzy snorted coldly, "What do you mean? She asked me how she fell down the stairs, and I just told her the truth. If something happens to her, it's all because of you, this jinx!"
Sandy clenched her fists and stared at Suzy intently for two seconds.
Sandy accused, "Suzy, is Mon's fall related to you? You were so eager to talk to her about me, deliberately trying to provoke her and prevent her from waking up, right? You want me to be your scapegoat!"
Caught off guard by the accusation, Suzy became nervous for a moment but then immediately defended herself, saying, "Cora, don't frame me. It's you who caused my mom's accident! You're a jinx, and you'd better realize it yourself. Divorce my brother and leave the Hamilton family; stop causing trouble for us!"
Sandy looked at her and smiled instead.
"Suzy, even if I bring bad luck, it wouldn't affect you, would it? Any misfortune would only touch the Hamilton family. You're an adopted, not blood-related, member. In essence, you're not a true Hamilton!" Sandy stated.
"You..." Suzy wanted to object.
Sandy retorted, "Even if you claim Hamilton lineage, you're married and no longer carry the name. Despite your divorce, there's no need to defame me intentionally."
