Chapter 438 Can't Let Her Go

Evella returned the books to the study room, still feeling angry.

The scene of her and Howard at the hotel flashed through her mind.

She slapped herself on the forehead and lamented.

When will she be able to turn the page on her dark past?

Absentmindedly opening her computer, she tried to write something, but her mind was a mess.

She wrote something random and quickly deleted it.

What was she writing?

Delicate collarbones, enticing chest muscles, sexy abs...

But when it came to writing sensual scenes in novels, she seemed to have a vivid imagination!

Evella covered her flushed face, secretly disgusted with herself.

She clearly wanted Howard to forget about the hotel incident.

But she couldn't forget Nora!

At mealtime, Evella sent a message to Nora.

Evella: [Nora, where are you? It's time to eat.]

At this time, Nora and Sandy had just finished discussing the topic their mentor had given them.

Seeing Evella's message, Nora smiled and replied.

Nora: [I'll be there soon.]

Evella: [OK.]

Nora put away her phone and asked, "Are you hungry? Do you want to have a simple meal with me at the cafeteria or go home for a feast?"

Sandy glared at her and said, "Do you want to get rid of me? I won't leave; I'll tag along and mooch off you today!"

Nora chuckled, and replied, "Okay if I can let you mooch off me, I'll be delighted."

The two joked for a while, then greeted their mentor and left the lab.

Just as they reached the ground floor, they saw a familiar figure walking towards them.

Sandy, who was previously chatting and laughing with Nora, paused, and a hint of a smile disappeared from her face.

Nora followed her gaze and saw Zephyr.

The man was wearing a black down jacket, and his already thin face seemed to have slimmed down even more.

Nora sighed softly as she thought about the fact that these two people had once been lovers. It was all a matter of fate, and they were destined to be together in the beginning and without being able to reunite in the end.

Without saying a word, she squeezed Sandy's hand, understanding everything without needing to speak. Sandy smiled at her, calming her fluctuating emotions little by little.

They continued walking forward, and Zephyr watched Sandy the whole time, unable to conceal his deep affection. Nora was afraid that Sandy would feel uncomfortable, so she greeted Zephyr first.

Nora greeted, "Zephyr, what a coincidence."

Zephyr's gaze finally moved away from Sandy's face, and he smiled slightly at Nora.

Zephyr replied, "My advisor asked me to find Professor Carl. We need to discuss a medical research topic in detail."

Nora nodded, and said, "The professor is in the laboratory; you can go find him."

Zephyr acknowledged her response before glancing at Sandy. Seeing that she wasn't looking at him, a hint of sorrow flashed in his eyes. "Are you two going to have a meal?" he asked.

"Yes, we're leaving first," Nora replied and smiled as she pulled Sandy away.

Zephyr fixed his gaze on Sandy's figure, his heart filled with a faint pain. What should he do? He still couldn't let go of her, even knowing that she was already pregnant. He just wanted to see her; even if it were just once, he would be satisfied.

Ahead, Nora pondered, "Is Zephyr planning to collaborate with the professor on that medical research topic?"

Hearing this, Sandy curled her fingers and lowered her gaze. "I'm not sure," she replied.

Nora glanced at her, wanting to say something but hesitating. Why did it feel like Zephyr came because of Sandy? Knowing that her sister-in-law worked here, he used it as an excuse to come here and discuss collaboration with the advisor. This way, he could work together with her sister-in-law.

With this thought, Nora sighed once again. Zephyr was a man full of deep affection, but it was a pity that fate had destined them to have no future together.

"Sandy," a male voice sounded from ahead.

Sandy paused, and when she saw who it was, she immediately smiled. "Kenneth, why are you here?" Sandy asked.

"I came to take you to dinner," Kenneth said and smiled warmly. He took off his coat to wrap around Sandy.

"I'm not cold; you should wear the coat and not catch a chill." Sandy's tone was gentle. She worried about Kenneth catching a cold and wanted to return the coat to him.

"Wear it, I'm not cold," Kenneth insisted while he freed her hair, which was trapped under the coat, with a determined expression on his face.

Watching the loving scene between them, Nora rubbed her arm and jokingly said, "Kenneth, look at my goosebumps."

Kenneth smiled and said, "Let's go, let's have a meal together."

"No, I have plans with Evella; I won't be a third wheel for you two," Nora teased, then winked at Sandy and said, "I'll leave first."

"Okay," Sandy couldn't hide her tenderness in her eyebrows and eyes.

"Let's go too," Kenneth put his arm around her.

"Okay," Sandy nodded obediently and let him lead her into the car.

Kenneth closed the car door and went to the driver's seat.

He fastened his seatbelt and glanced towards the direction of the laboratory.

At this moment, Zephyr was still standing there, motionless, staring in his direction.

Even from a distance, it seemed like others could feel Zephyr's loneliness.

Kenneth pursed his lips and withdrew his gaze. His dark pupils were dim and unclear.

"Kenneth, where are you taking me for dinner?" Sandy fastened her seatbelt and asked.

Kenneth regained his composure and asked, "What do you want to eat?"

Sandy thought for a moment, unconsciously licked her lips, and tentatively asked, "Can we have a hamburger?"

Hamburger!

A frown appeared on Kenneth's forehead, "Do you want to eat junk food again?"

Sandy bit her lip and lightly touched her lower abdomen, saying, "It's not me who wants to eat; it's the baby."

Her big, innocent eyes were filled with water.

Kenneth glanced at her and felt a slight movement in his heart.

He didn't know why, but he was more and more concerned about her feelings now.

It seemed like as long as she showed a soft expression, he only wanted to satisfy her.

Even if he had to pluck stars and moon for her, he would find a way to do it.

"All right, let's go eat hamburgers with our baby," Kenneth compromised.

Sandy instantly smiled with joy.

She caressed her lower abdomen and, with a soft tone, said, "Baby, did you hear that? Daddy is taking us to eat delicious food."

Baby, Daddy!

What heartwarming words.

Kenneth started the car, and the couldn't help but smile.

Thinking of Zephyr, he glanced at Sandy but ultimately didn't ask anything.

Sandy was his wife.

They now had the love fruit of their relationship.

Even if Sandy used to love Zephyr, she should rely on him with her whole heart now.

He wouldn't let her leave him!

In the cafeteria, Evella sat in her usual spot, and when she saw Nora, she waved at her.

Nora smiled and walked over to sit across from her.

"Here, have some food," Evella handed Nora the fork.

Nora thanked her and smiled, saying, "I feel so lucky to have ready food as soon as I arrive."

Evella rolled her eyes and said, "Yes, only I would repay kindness with complaints."
