Chapter 955 Was He the Second-choice?

A loud bang echoed.

Fireworks lit up the sky, making everyone smile.

"Wow, so beautiful!" Gabriella exclaimed.

Everyone felt a bit of romance in the air.

Gabriella wanted to link arms with Aaron but hesitated because of Nora.

She looked for Johnnie but realized he was gone.

'Where did Johnnie go?' she wondered, feeling disappointed.

Meanwhile, Johnnie finished a call and walked to a corner of the estate.

"Mr. Perez, here's what you asked for," a young man said, handing him a small chip box.

"Thanks," Johnnie replied, taking it.

The young man left, and Johnnie pocketed the chip, watching the fireworks with an unreadable expression.

By the lake, Nora and Mateo watched the fireworks. Nora noticed Gabriella's outfit looked like hers.

Mateo draped his jacket over Nora's shoulders. "Feeling cold?"

Nora smiled. "I'm fine."

"Want to go inside to watch the show?" Mateo suggested.

"Sure," Nora agreed, and they walked towards the shops, ignoring Aaron.

Aaron watched them, his expression dark.

"Mr. Gordon, aren't you coming?" Gabriella asked.

Aaron glanced at her. "You said you had a way to make her care about me. What is it?"

Gabriella's eyes shifted. "I can't tell you now."

"When can you tell me?"

"Wait for my message."

Aaron looked intrigued but said nothing.

A cool breeze blew, and Gabriella hugged herself. "It's so cold."

She expected Aaron to offer her his coat, but he didn't.

She turned and saw Aaron had left.

His tall figure stood out against the fireworks, still noble and imposing.

But he wasn't hers.

Gabriella gritted her teeth, hugging herself.

Then she saw Johnnie.

"Johnnie," she called out.

Johnnie paused and looked at her.

Gabriella ran over. "Where did you go?"

Johnnie's expression was indifferent. "Had something to do. What's up?"

"Nothing. Come and watch the fireworks with me," she said, linking her arm with his and smiling.

Johnnie looked at her for two seconds, then pulled his arm away and started to leave.

"I have something to do."

"Hey, where are you going?"

Gabriella grabbed him, and as Johnnie turned, she suddenly kissed him.

Fireworks lit up the sky, highlighting their kiss.

Johnnie froze, trying to pull away, but Gabriella held on tight.

People around them gasped, gathering to watch.

Johnnie frowned, forcefully pulling her hand away.

He looked at her, her eyes reflecting the fireworks, a charming smile on her lips.

Johnnie's emotions surged, a tempest of anger and hurt battling for dominance.

He just stared at Gabriella.

Seeing his stunned expression, Gabriella giggled and tapped his forehead.

"Hey, why are you so silly?"

"Gabriella, that's enough."

Johnnie's voice was tinged with suppressed anger.

Gabriella's smile froze, thinking she had embarrassed him.

She shook his hand, pouting. "Alright, don't be mad. I kissed you because I was overwhelmed. If you're mad, you can kiss me back."

Overwhelmed?

She made it sound so genuine!

Johnnie took a deep breath, said nothing, and turned to leave.

"Hey, where are you going?"

Johnnie didn't respond and walked towards the shops.

'Is he really mad at me?'

'How old is Johnnie, and why is he so old-fashioned?'

Gabriella muttered and quickly followed him.

Aaron entered the shop and went up to the second floor.

He found Nora and Mateo at a window seat, their table filled with snacks.

Mateo had just peeled an orange and handed a segment to Nora.

Aaron's eyes narrowed, and he strode over, snatching the orange and popping it into his mouth.

Mateo's smile froze, watching Aaron sit down next to Nora with a smirk.

"Aaron, why are you eating the orange I peeled?"

Aaron swallowed the orange and said slowly, "I'm your brother-in-law. Can't I eat the orange you peeled?"

Mateo chuckled. "I peeled it for Nora. You're acting like a kid!"

Aaron scoffed, "Oranges are acidic fruits and may cause stomach inflammation in pregnant women, and Nora's pregnant."

He forked a piece of melon and brought it to Nora's mouth.

"Here, open up."

Nora raised an eyebrow but obediently ate.

Mateo was stunned, narrowing his eyes.

'Have they made up?'

'But just now by the lake, they were ignoring each other.'

"Don't eat melon. Don't you know it just came out of the fridge?" Mateo said.

Aaron forked a piece of kiwi and brought it to Nora's mouth.

"She's my wife. I can give her whatever I want. Right, honey?"

Nora found it amusing and nodded, giving him face.

"Yes, you're absolutely right."
