Chapter 479 If Nora Was Really My Daughter

Nora sent Sandy back home.

"Nora, come in and have a cup of coffee," Sandy said.

Nora hesitated for a moment and nodded, feeling it necessary to personally tell Emma about Sandy taking herbal medicine.

Sandy was too soft-tempered, and if Emma scolded her, she might continue to take it.

"Mrs. Hamilton Junior, Ms. Hamilton, you're back," the servant greeted as he saw the two enter the house.

Nora smiled, feeling a little unfamiliar with being called "Ms. Hamilton."

When she returned to the Hamilton family, Ebenezer initially claimed that she was Ms. Hamilton. But Emma insisted otherwise because Suzy also had the last name Hamilton, and the servants might confuse them.

Nora knew that Emma was saying this because she resisted her presence.

She didn't mind; after all, she wasn't Emma's real daughter, so she didn't care about the title.

"Is Ebenezer at home?" Sandy asked the servant.

"Mr. Hamilton is not at home; only Mrs. Hamilton is," the servant replied truthfully. "Mrs. Hamilton is feeling unwell today and is resting in her room upstairs."

Hearing this, Sandy asked with concern, "What's bothering her?"

"It seems like she has a severe headache," the servant said.

"I'll go and take a look," Nora said.

Sandy nodded and went upstairs with Nora.

"Nora, I'll go change my clothes first," she said. "I fell just now, and my clothes and pants got dirty. I have to change into a new outfit. Otherwise, Emma will worry if she sees it."

"Okay," Nora responded and first knocked on Emma's bedroom door.

"Who is it?" Emma asked.

"It's me," Nora replied.

After a moment of silence, Emma said, "Come in."

Nora turned the doorknob and went in.

Emma sat up in bed and leaned against the headboard, looking at Nora. She seemed exhausted and lacked energy.

"How did you come here?" Emma asked.

At a glance, Nora could tell that Emma had a bad cold.

"I brought Sandy back and came to check on you," Nora explained.

She sat down by the bed and said, "I heard you're sick. Let me help treat you."

Emma coughed a few times and looked uncomfortable with her eyes closed. She frowned and wanted to decline, but Nora started examining her without hesitation.

Nora asked, "Did you catch a cold?"

"Yes," Emma replied listlessly.

"The weather is cold. Be mindful of keeping warm when you go out," Nora advised.

"I don't need you to teach me. Do you think I wouldn't know?" Emma replied with a heavy nasal tone and an impatient tone.

Sick people always have slightly worse tempers than usual, and Emma already doesn't like Nora.

Nora didn't mind her attitude and put on gloves after examining her.

"Lie down, and I'll massage some parts of your body for you," Nora suggested.

Emma glanced at her weakly and said, "Can it cure my severe cold?"

Nora replied, "Your cold won't immediately go away, but at least your nose will clear up a bit, and your headache will ease a little."

Hearing this, Emma fell silent and didn't argue, lying down obediently.

The massage was a bit painful, and Emma furrowed her brows. "Why does it hurt so much? Are you doing it on purpose?" she asked.

Nora wondered, 'Why does she always view others with malicious intent?'

Nora replied somewhat tactlessly, "What do you think?"

"If I knew, would I still ask you?" Emma snapped back.

Nora didn't waste any more words on her. "Believe what you want," she rebutted.

Emma felt like she was punching cotton and didn't know what else to say.

If it weren't for her splitting headache, she would have wanted to kick Nora out.

After finishing the massage, Nora looked at a face that resembled Chloe's and hesitated before asking, "Has Chloe contacted you?"

Emma's eyes moved, and she opened them. "No, why?" she asked, curiously.

"No big deal, I just wanted to let you know that Chloe might be recovering soon," Nora explained.

Hearing this, Emma was stunned. "How do you know?" she questioned.

"I've been treating her during this time," Nora said.

Emma looked at her, unable to contain her excitement, and wanted to sit up.

"Really? Chloe is really recovering?" Emma asked, enthusiastically.

"Don't move," Nora quickly stopped her from getting up.

Emma settled back down and stared at her.

"You really cured her?" Emma asked, with her emotions incredibly complex and conflicted.

"Yes," Nora replied.

Emma thought, 'Nora's medical skills are truly remarkable. She healed both Chloe and Rany. She is a blessing to our family. How great would it be if she were truly my daughter?'

At that moment, Sandy knocked on the door and entered.

Sandy called out, "Mom."

Emma snapped back to reality and quickly said, "Don't come in; I have a bad cold. Be careful not to catch it. Pregnant women can't take medicine, so be sure not to harm the baby in your belly."

Sandy paused and glanced at Nora.

Nora smiled and said, "Sandy, you should go out first."

Sandy nodded and said, "Okay."

After she left, Nora looked at Emma and said, "I just checked on Sandy and found that her pregnancy is unstable. You shouldn't give her any supplements in the future. If the fetus becomes too large, it will be difficult for her to have a natural birth."

Hearing this, Emma frowned and said, "Then she can have a C-section. She eats so little regularly that she needs to take some supplements. What if the child is malnourished?"

Nora disapproved and glanced at her.

"Do you know how dangerous a C-section is for a woman? First, anesthesia is used during the procedure, which can be risky with possible punctures, allergic reactions to anesthesia, and nerve damage," Nora explained all the medical knowledge to Emma.

Emma listened attentively, her expression becoming more and more serious.

As a woman herself, she naturally wasn't that heartless, unlike some people who only cared about the baby's safety and didn't consider the mother's pain.

Besides, she also knew that for the baby, a natural birth is better than a C-section.

After finishing the medical lecture, Nora continued, "Although she is thin, her body is fine, so she won't have any problems with a normal diet. Eating less doesn't mean she won't absorb nutrients. Unless you don't let her eat."

Hearing this, Emma retorted unhappily, "Why would I? I want her to eat more."

"Then there's no problem," Nora deliberately said so.

Emma glanced at her, didn't say anything more, and took in her words.

The room fell silent, and Nora continued to massage Emma.

Emma was thinking about Chloe and planned to call her later to check on her.

When the timing was right, Nora stopped.

Nora informed Emma that she was done, saying, "Okay."

Emma sat up, feeling good either because she had heard the news of her sister's awakening or because the massage really worked. In any case, she felt refreshed now as her nose cleared up and her headache eased.

Emma's expression softened a bit.

But when she looked at Nora, she couldn't bring herself to smile.

Emma said, "I have a cold so I won't keep you for dinner. Let's meet at the Hamilton Manor in a few days."
