Chapter 814 Because You Kissed Me and Touched Me
Zephyr glanced at his phone; it was Hubert calling.
Alvin must have called Hubert, so now Hubert was calling to ask about the situation.
Zephyr left the restaurant and found a quieter place to answer the call.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Zephyr, Alvin just called me and said your girlfriend had him arrested. Is that true?" Hubert inquired.
Zephyr didn't deny it. "Yes, he was harassing a girl in the restaurant and causing trouble. My girlfriend is a cop, so she couldn't just stand by."
Hubert said, "I didn't expect you to have a cop for a girlfriend. Since you know Alvin is my cousin, don't be so serious about it. Just have your girlfriend release him."
Zephyr detected the condescension in his tone.
He replied, "Hubert, I see Alvin has been causing a lot of trouble under your name. If you keep indulging him, he'll definitely cause you trouble."
Hubert's voice turned displeased. "What trouble could he cause? I know Alvin's temperament. His behavior outside is just a bit flamboyant; people exaggerate."
Zephyr's eyes showed a hint of mockery. "I doubt it. From what I saw today, if my girlfriend and I weren't there, he would have assaulted that girl on the spot."
"No way; Alvin probably just had a bit to drink and was fooling around with that girl!"
Hubert's tone carried a hint of impatience.
"Alright, Zephyr, we're family. Just have your girlfriend release Alvin. I'll have Alvin treat you and your girlfriend to a meal sometime so you can get to know each other. If you ever need anything, just say the word, and he'll help you out like he helps me."
Zephyr remained unmoved. "Sorry, my girlfriend has a strong sense of justice. She probably won't agree to that."
Hubert's tone instantly cooled.
"If she doesn't agree, Zephyr, ask her if she still wants to marry into the Wright family. Offending me won't do her any good. Besides, Zephyr, you're a man. A man should be assertive and not let a woman call the shots."
Zephyr ignored his attempt to sow discord and said calmly, "Hubert, this is a matter of principle. I don't think my girlfriend is wrong. Alvin is too arrogant. If we let him off today, who knows what he might do next time."
"Come on, Zephyr..."
"Hubert, I'm busy. Let's leave it at that."
Zephyr didn't want to continue the conversation and hung up.
When he turned around, he saw Jane standing behind him, not knowing when she had arrived.
She was so quiet that Zephyr was startled.
"Why didn't you make a sound?"
Jane teased, "Startled? Feeling guilty about something?"
Zephyr glanced at her. "Yes, I was badmouthing you."
Jane laughed. "Was that Hubert calling?"
Zephyr nodded. "Did you hear everything?"
Jane replied, "Yes, you kept calling me your girlfriend. Are you really using me as a cover?"
Zephyr's eyes flickered. "I just said we should try it, and you didn't disagree."
Jane was speechless. "But I didn't agree either."
Zephyr simply played innocent. "It seems a lot of people know now. Why don't we just make it official?"
Jane laughed. "Why should we?"
Zephyr looked at her, thinking of something, and a hint of discomfort flashed in his eyes.
"Because you kissed me and touched me."
Jane almost choked on her saliva.
Seeing Zephyr's evasive gaze, she couldn't help but laugh.
Jane didn't know what to say; they just found it very amusing.
Zephyr felt increasingly uncomfortable under her laughter.
"Alright, are we eating or not? If not, let's go to the hospital."
Jane stifled her laughter. "Zephyr, is your family pressuring you to get married, so you want me to pretend to be your girlfriend?"
Zephyr said, "Why pretend?"
Jane raised an eyebrow. "Because I don't like you."
Zephyr was taken aback. "Feelings can be developed over time."
Jane glanced at him. "Others might do, but not you."
Zephyr was puzzled. "Why not me?"
Jane replied, "Because your heart isn't with you. How can we develop feelings?"
Zephyr was stunned for a moment, then realized what she meant.
Jane was implying that he still had feelings for Sandy so that he couldn't develop feelings for her.
Zephyr was silent for a moment. "I'll get my heart back."
Sandy had already found her happiness.
Zephyr had said that as long as Sandy was happy, he would let go.
"That's your business, not mine." Jane shrugged.
Zephyr opened his mouth to say something, but at that moment, Marlon walked over to them.
"Zephyr, Jane, the food is getting cold. Come in and eat."
Jane glanced at her watch and said, "We've been delayed for a long time. We're leaving now."
Zephyr swallowed his words and nodded.
"Marlon, we have other things to do, so we'll leave now. I'll transfer the money for the meal to you later."
"You are leaving?" Marlon looked disappointed.
"Yes. Goodbye, Marlon." Jane waved to him.
"Jane, you should come by more often," Marlon said.
"Sure, if anyone causes trouble again, you can come to me directly." Jane smiled.
"Okay."
Marlon's eyes were full of admiration.
Jane, Zephyr, and Marlon said their goodbyes, and then they drove to the hospital.
At the hospital.
Emma had been with Sandy all day. In the evening, Kenneth arrived, so she went home.
Nora was also there, changing Otis's diaper.
Otis was hungry after pooping, crying with his eyes closed, his little mouth moving as he searched for milk.
Kenneth asked, "Nora, were Alex and Billy like this, always needing to be held when they were born?"
Nora finished changing Otis's diaper and smiled. "No, except for Samantha being a bit spoiled, Alex and Billy were very well-behaved from birth. During the entire postpartum confinement, they just ate and slept, never giving me any trouble."
Kenneth took Otis from Nora's hands and gently tapped Otis's smooth little nose.
"Exactly, Alex and the others were normal. This little baby is the odd one."
Nora laughed. "Kenneth, how can you say that about your own son? The baby is perfectly normal. He just came out of a warm environment and isn't used to it yet. It means he's very sensitive to the outside world."
Sandy, lying on the hospital bed, also laughed and took Otis to start feeding him.
"Baby, Daddy is complaining about you. Do you want to be a well-behaved boy?"
Otis grabbed her clothes with his little hand, sucking on the milk with his eyes closed, not caring whether Kenneth was complaining about him or not.
As the three of them were chatting, a servant came in and said, "Sir, you have guests."
Kenneth asked Nora to stay with Sandy, and he got up to go to the outer hall.
When he saw Zephyr and Jane, his expression became more serious.
