Chapter 1041 Wanting to Silence Someone

Just then, the police showed up. "Mr. Wright, your company is suspected of selling fake drugs. Please come with us to the station."

Zephyr had seen this coming since the news broke. He stayed calm. "Jane, I'm heading to the station. Handle things here."

Jane frowned, worry in her eyes, but nodded. "Don't worry, I'll get to the bottom of this."

A few officers took Zephyr away. Jane called a friendly officer, asking them to look out for Zephyr.

Nora watched Zephyr being taken away and turned to Aaron. "Aaron, can you help them out? I need to check on some patients and do some acupuncture."

"I'll go with you," Aaron insisted, worried about Nora being alone, especially since she was pregnant.

"I'm fine, really," Nora said.

"No way," Aaron replied firmly.

He wasn't leaving Nora's side.

"Dr. Smith, I appreciate your help, but I can handle finding the evidence. Remember, I used to be a cop," Jane said quickly.

Jane was understanding. Nora gave Aaron a playful glare but didn't argue and headed to the ward.

Jane stepped aside and called Emilio. "Emilio, I need you to dig into Harrison Hayes, the procurement manager at Wright Group. I need everything on him."

Knowing Harrison and Hubert set the trap, she had to start with Harrison.

"Jane, look at the man you married," Emilio said. He'd been at the banquet and knew about the trouble at Wright Group.

He'd always admired Jane and didn't like her marrying Zephyr. Now, with this mess, he was even more against Zephyr.

"I trust Zephyr. He's not a heartless businessman. Someone's framing him," Jane said.

"I'm not saying I don't believe him, but business is tough. Life with him won't be easy," Emilio replied.

Jane smiled. "Emilio, remember my old job? As a cop, I was always on the go. I guess I'm just meant for a hectic life."

Emilio snorted. "You're asking for trouble. You had better options."

Jane was getting impatient. "Enough. Are you helping or not?"

"Of course, I am."

Jane smiled and hung up. While waiting for Emilio's results, she kept dealing with the drug issues.

An hour later, Emilio sent over Harrison's info. Jane went through it but found nothing wrong.

Harrison's family had left the country a few days ago, and his recent activities seemed clean. He was clearly prepared.

Hubert had learned from past mistakes and covered all bases with Harrison.

With no mistakes to find, it was easier for Harrison to betray Zephyr. Now, all the blame pointed to Zephyr.

"Will Zephyr really have to take the fall for this drug mess?" Jane frowned, feeling unusually uneasy.

Two hours later, Sandy and Kenneth emerged from the lab.

"Jane, we got the test results. There's a toxin in the patients' vomit that matches the new drug from Wright Group. The patients were poisoned by it," Sandy said, looking serious. This was unexpected.

Jane nodded. "So, Hubert bribed Harrison to frame Zephyr."

"Where's Zephyr now?" Sandy asked, looking around.

"The police took him in for questioning," Jane replied.

Sandy's eyes showed worry. "If we can't prove Hubert framed him, will Zephyr go to jail?"

"Most likely," Jane said.

The news had spread widely, causing a big stir. Even with the Wright Family's connections, cooling things down would be tough. Hubert was set on ruining Zephyr.

"Ms. Harvey, if you need any help, just let me know," Kenneth offered, seeing Sandy's concern.

"Thank you," Jane said gratefully. "Many partners want to cancel their contracts. Mr. Hamilton, could you help negotiate?"

"Sure," Kenneth said, starting to make calls to smooth things over for Zephyr.

"Jane, shouldn't we find evidence that Zephyr was framed?" Sandy asked.

Jane nodded. "I'll prove Zephyr's innocence as soon as possible."

She remembered Zephyr mentioning that Harrison had swapped high-quality materials for inferior ones. Where did the good stuff go? If they could find it, they might get some clues.

Jane felt a bit more hopeful but knew it would be tough to trace the high-quality materials, given Hubert's thorough planning. Still, a lead was better than nothing.

Just as she was about to call someone to investigate, her phone rang. It was a colleague from the police station.

"Jane, we got a distress call saying Hubert is killing someone at Peaceful View Garden. The caller claims to know the whole story behind the drug incident and that Hubert wants to silence them," the colleague said.

Jane's heart raced. "I'm on my way!"

She thought, "Someone actually knows the whole story! Zephyr has a chance!"

At Peaceful View Garden, Hubert lounged on the sofa, looking smug. "This time, let's see how Zephyr can bounce back! Want to fight me? Maybe in the next life!"

Genevieve, in a white fitted dress, handed him a glass of wine. "Is everything settled?"

Hubert took the glass and pulled her into his arms. "Yes, didn't you see the news? Zephyr was taken by the police for questioning."

"But he was only taken for questioning. He'll be out soon," Genevieve said.

"No way," Hubert said, sipping his wine. "The new drug he was responsible for had a major flaw. He has to face legal consequences. Even if my dad tries to bail him out, it won't work. With so many eyes on them, who would dare bend the rules?"
