Chapter 342 Is It Really Edric?

Nora found amusement in the hint of jealousy in Aaron's messages, she texted back.

Nora: [Not at all, get your work done, I'll be waiting!]

His response was succinct, which made her picture Aaron's proud little smirk as he put down his phone. Dealing with a jealous partner on a daily basis can be incredibly draining.

"Will Mr. Gordon be coming?" Sandy asked.

"He's got prior engagements. We'll eat ahead without him," Nora responded, returning to the conversation with a smile.

"All right," Sandy replied.

As the dishes began to arrive, Sandy took the opportunity to play with the little ones. "Hey, darlings, who do you love the most?" she asked.

All three replied in unison, "Mommy!" in their sweet, resolute baby voices.

Sandy was both envious and amused. "Nora, you're incredible. You've got three little Mommy’s fans here. It's almost like you've got a secret formula for making people want kids."

Nora felt secretly pleased, she humbly replied, "You really believe them? Those three little rascals are too slick, they always say the right thing at the right time."

Hearing this, Alex's face turned serious and said, "Mommy, while we appreciate your recognition of our intelligence, we need to point out that there's a misunderstanding. What we said earlier was true that you are our favorite person."

Billy and Samantha both nodded in agreement.

Nora’s heart melted. Of course, she knew it, even without them having to say it.

She was just being modest. "Ahem, kids, keep it down. Your love for Mommy can stay in your heart."

Samantha pouted her lips, "But Mommy, our Professor Lee said that we should express our love for Daddy and Mommy out loud, to fill our home with love every day." Her sweet little voice was crisp and clear, making Sandy incredibly joyful.

Sandy agreed, "That's right, Samantha makes a good point. Here, let your Aunt serve you some soup."

Samantha replied, "Thank you, Aunt Sandy."

Sandy was overwhelmed by their cuteness and playfully interacted with the trio without much focus.

Samantha answered any question she was asked. While Alex and Billy, the brothers, thought some of Sandy's questions were a bit childish, they still politely responded.

As Nora was eating, the image of a man she had seen earlier lingered in her mind, compelling her to put down her utensils and send a message to Jenny.

Nora: [Jen, are you busy?]

She hoped Edric would be with Jenny at that moment.

Shortly, Jenny called her back. Nora excused herself to Sandy and then went to a quiet place outside to take the call.

Nora initiated the conversation, "Jen."

"The great Master healer, what brings you to call me today?" came the playful voice through the phone. The voice was so sweet.

Nora laughed, "Just missed you."

"Hmm, that's more like it," Jenny hummed, indicating she was still not completely satisfied.

Nora asked, "Have you had dinner yet?"

"Not yet, about to go eat. What about you?" Jenny asked in response.

Nora answered, "I'm eating right now."

"Still in Lindwood City?" Jenny inquired.

Nora confirmed, "Yep."

They talked briefly about their recent lives, and Nora keenly caught onto a piece of information.

Nora asked, "Edric's gone on a business trip?"

"Yeah, he left yesterday," Jenny replied.

Pressing further, "Where did he go?" Nora clutched her phone a bit tighter.

Jenny answered, "He went to B city."

‘Edric went to B city? The person she saw earlier couldn't have been Edric, right?’ Nora pressed her red lips together, uncertain whether she should breathe a sigh of relief.

"Nora, why are you suddenly asking about Edric?" Jenny inquired.

Nora snapped back to reality and smiled, "Oh, nothing. We were just talking, and his name came up, so I asked."

Jenny fell silent for a moment. "You're not lying to me, are you?" she pressed.

"No, I'm not," Nora assured her.

Jenny laughed and said, "I thought you had caught Edric cheating on me with another woman, just like you found out about Joad Tom that time."

Hearing this, Nora's heart skipped a beat and said, "Don't jump to conclusions."

Her best friend had been hurt before, and all Nora could hope for was that Edric wouldn't hurt her again.

"Once bitten, twice shy," Jenny remarked.

Nora remained quiet for a moment. "Has Edric mentioned when he's going to marry you?"

There was silence on the line, and Nora's brows knitted together slightly. "He's never talked about it?" she questioned.

"No, it's not that. Edric's taken me to meet his parents. It's just..." Jenny hesitated.

Nora narrowed her eyes, probing. "His parents don't agree?"

"Yeah,” Jenny answered.

As expected, high society families like his were not easy for those without significant backgrounds to enter.

Nora paused, then asked, "What did Edric have to say about that?"

Jenny replied, "He said not to worry about his parents' opinions and to just be at peace being his bride."

That's more like it. Nora was somewhat satisfied with Jenny's response.

"Good. Gotta go now, let's catch up when I'm back," Nora suggested.

"All right,” jenny agreed.

After hanging up, Nora held her phone and couldn't help but look ahead.

Could the person she saw earlier be Edric? Nora hesitated for a moment, then started walking towards the private rooms in that area.

All the doors were closed, and she contemplated whether to push each door open to check inside.

Just then, someone opened one of the private room doors from the inside and stepped out.

Nora's approaching hand froze, and she quickly withdrew it.

The person looked puzzled. "Is that you, Miss. Smith?"

Nora recognized him as well. It was Zephyr.

"Mr. Tom," she greeted.

Zephyr gave a small smile. "Are you dining alone?"

"No, I'm with a friend." Nora wanted to say she was with Sandy, but she ended up keeping it to herself.

“Looking for someone?” Zephyr asked, picking up on her earlier action.

Nora paused, “No, I just got the rooms mixed up.”

Her impulse earlier seemed like an overreaction now that she thought about it. She might have been too suspicious.

"What's your suite number? I'll escort you back to your room," Zephyr offered with gentlemanly concern.

"No, that’s okay. I can get back on my own," Nora quickly declined.

Zephyr didn't press further, giving her a slight nod as he watched her leave.

At that moment, Sandy approached, "Nora, what are you doing over here?"

"I, uh, had to use the restroom," Nora said, glancing at Zephyr and making up an excuse.

Sandy followed her gaze to Zephyr and her expression subtly shifted.

"Nora, you've been out for a while; the little ones are getting anxious. Let's head back," she suggested.

"All right," Nora agreed, her response short as she and Sandy made their way back.

Zephyr watched Sandy's retreating figure until she and Nora were out of sight, then he let his gaze fall.

A hint of sadness twinkled in his eyes.

When Nora returned to the suite, she noticed Sandy continuing to care for the three little ones as if nothing had changed and pursed her lips.

Zephyr seemed like a true gentleman and the manner of how he looks at Sandy was indeed affectionate.

Unfortunately, it seemed they were never meant to cross paths again.

After dinner, Nora received a call from Evella Remington, asking where she was. "I'm at the restaurant with Sandy," Nora informed her.

"I'll come pick you up. Could you ask Sandy if she would like to join us?" Evella offered.

"Okay." Nora hung up and turned to Sandy.

"Sandy, I’m going to watch a band perform with Evella later. Would you like to come with us?"
