Chapter 130 An Uninvited Guest
"I'll get the door," Noe announced, heading to the entrance.
It was Suzy on the doorstep.
Noe's smile faded slightly. "Miss Hamilton."
Well, talk about an unexpected guest!
Why would she show up at such a cozy moment?
"Noe, is Aaron back?" Suzy asked with a gentle smile.
"Yes, Mr. Gordon is having dinner," Noe replied.
"He's finally back."
Suzy walked in, making a beeline for the dining room.
Upon seeing Nora and the three kids, she acted surprised, "Nora, you're here too!"
Hearing her voice, Nora greeted her politely, "Miss Hamilton."
Suzy's eyes briefly scanned the three children, her fingers curling subtly.
It was her first meeting them in person, and they bore such a striking resemblance to Aaron!
"Nora, are these your little ones? They're so adorable!"
Suzy masked her emotions and offered a compliment.
"Yes," Nora responded.
The children spoke up politely.
"So well-mannered," Suzy remarked before sitting down beside Aaron.
"Aaron, it's been ages since we dined together. You don't mind if I join you for a meal, right?"
Although Aaron was internally disinclined, he wouldn't turn away a guest.
"Sure. Please set another place for Miss Hamilton."
"Right away."
A servant promptly fetched a fresh set of silverware from the kitchen.
"So, Nora, have you moved into this villa neighborhood?" Suzy asked with a smile.
"Yes," Nora answered.
"That's wonderful! We're neighbors now; we should go shopping together sometime."
Suzy's graciousness was all an act.
Nora merely smiled in response and said nothing.
A flicker of scorn crossed Suzy's eyes as she turned her attention back to Aaron, who was lifting a sprig of parsley with his fork.
Suzy was taken aback. "Aaron, I thought you didn't like parsley?"
Chewing the parsley, Aaron glanced at Nora.
"People can change their habits."
During the past few days, under Nora's watchful eye, he'd grown to enjoy the taste of parsley. It didn't just seem bearable; it tasted quite good to him.
"My mom always says we shouldn't be picky eaters; otherwise, we might not get enough nutrients," Samantha said, offering parsley to Suzy.
"Here, Miss Hamilton, you should try some too!"
"The product of common upbringing—no sense of dining etiquette," Suzy thought, a trace of contempt in her gaze.
"Samantha, remember to keep it clean when you eat," Aaron reminded.
Samantha's smile faltered at the words, her eyes flitting uncertainly toward Aaron. Did Miss Hamilton dislike her now? She thought the lady was pretty and wanted her to enjoy a balanced meal like they did!
Aaron's brow furrowed slightly, and he reached to move the parsley closer to himself. "Suzy, let's not fuss over it."
A flicker of embarrassment passed through Suzy's eyes, followed by a gracious smile. "I apologize; I made a mountain out of a molehill. Samantha, thank you for before."
Samantha caught Suzy's graceful smile and quickly began beaming.
Alex and Billy wondered about Suzy's relationship with Aaron. With Miss Hamilton freely coming and going from Mr. Gordon's house, what exactly was her relationship with him?
After lunch and seeing Suzy there, Nora prepared to take the kids home. "Why don't you take a look around before you leave?" Aaron suggested. "Noe, could you show the kids upstairs?"
"Sure," Noe agreed, leading the three children upstairs.
Aaron then turned to Suzy. "I've got my rehab session now. You can head on back."
Just like that, she was being dismissed?
A swift shadow crossed Suzy's expression, but she maintained her composure with a polite smile. "Aaron, let me stay for the rehab session."
"No need. Nora will be enough support; she's got it covered." Aaron declined sharply without a second thought.
Suzy's smile was on the verge of breaking. Casting a glance at Nora, she suppressed her irritation. "Alright, I'll leave it to Nora then."
"It's no trouble at all," Nora replied. She watched as Aaron rose from the wheelchair and began his slow ascent up the stairs with her assistance.
Suzy's expression twisted ever so slightly as she watched them disappear. Stepping outside, she took a deep breath, pulled out her phone, and dialed Aaron's mother's number. Aaron was getting better, and his mother had promised her that as soon as his leg healed, he would marry her.
The phone was answered almost immediately. "Suzy."
"Mrs. Gordon," Suzy began pleasantly, "I wanted to let you know that Aaron's finally settled back in Star River Bay."
"Is that so? That's wonderful. Is he home now? Are you with him?" Mary inquired cheerfully.
"Aaron is home, but I'm not accompanying him. It's that female doctor treating him," Suzy paused for effect. "Not only did she show up, but she brought her three kids along, and Aaron just finished having lunch with them."
When she heard this, Mary said, "Really? Why did she bring the kids?"
"They live in the neighborhood too. They just moved in today," Suzy replied.
With a hint of surprise, Mary asked, "Real estate in Star River Bay is so costly. How could she afford a house there?"
"Well, Mrs. Gordon, I'm not entirely sure," Suzy feigned uncertainty, "But I suspect Aaron might have bought it for her."
"Aaron bought it for her? Why? As a sort of payment?"
"No, it seems Aaron has taken quite a liking to the lady doctor," Suzy said, finally steering the conversation to her intended topic.
Mary's voice rose noticeably. "What are you saying? Aaron likes her?"
"Yes, she's pretty and knows how to handle men. Looks like Aaron's totally smitten with her." Suzy intentionally stirred the pot.
Fuming, Mary declared, "I've got it. I'm heading over to Star River Bay to see what she looks like."
Suzy couldn't help but smile triumphantly. "Oh, and I didn't mention, did I? Her name's Nora, Lucas's ex-wife."
"Who's Lucas?"
"He's the biological son the Gordons welcomed back into the family a few years ago."
"What! That's her? I'm on my way!"
After hanging up, Suzy allowed herself a cold smile.
Only she could be Aaron's wife.
She waited eagerly for Mary to intervene and drive Nora away from Aaron.
Up on the third floor...
Nora helped Aaron into a room.
It was Aaron's gym.
The spacious room was filled with exercise equipment, like a mini-fitness center.
