Chapter 749 How Did I Meet Him Again
Zephyr faced this arrogant woman with a hint of helplessness in his eyes.
This blind date was forced upon him by his father, Leonard.
Leonard said this woman was the daughter of a CEO of a listed company named Helen Watson.
Helen's education and family background were top-notch.
If he could marry Helen, it would greatly benefit his future career.
Saying it would benefit his career was actually a pretext for consolidating the family's interests through marriage.
Zephyr didn't want to come, but he came in the end.
Because if he was destined not to marry Sandy, then it didn't matter who he married.
"You are Zephyr, the illegitimate son of the Wright family, indeed quite handsome, but unfortunately not from a good background."
Helen looked Zephyr up and down with a look of interest as if appraising a piece of merchandise.
"I am Zephyr, and you are the Watson family's heiress, Helen."
Zephyr's expression changed, taken aback by the lackluster demeanor of this high society heiress.
Zephyr felt that his initial thoughts might need to change.
Even if he was to remain single for life, he didn't want to be alone with a woman like Helen for a day.
He would be very annoyed.
"Zephyr, let me ask you, if your father steps down, can you defeat your brothers and become the next successor, if you can, then I will consider marrying you."
Helen originally wanted to just brush it off and leave.
But seeing how handsome Zephyr was, she could consider giving him a chance.
As long as Zephyr could become the heir of the Wright family, she would overlook the fact that he was an illegitimate child.
Zephyr remained calm, without expectations, without disappointments, just observing coldly.
Just as he was about to say there was no need to consider, suddenly, Jane's voice came from behind.
"Miss, if he becomes the heir of the Wright family, do you really think he'll spare a glance for you, a short and mediocre fatty?" Jane said.
Zephyr was stunned. He turned slightly to see Jane walking towards him with a smile and then sitting beside him.
Zephyr's eyes flickered with surprise.
How did he meet Jane again?
At the sight of Jane, Zephyr's mind uncontrollably recalled the intimate scene between them last night.
Zephyr's gaze faltered, his ears turning red involuntarily.
He unconsciously shifted a bit to the side, wanting to put some distance between himself and Jane.
But whether Jane did it intentionally or not, she sat right next to him.
They were on a leather sofa, and if he moved further in, he would hit the wall.
Therefore, Zephyr had to sit up straight, motionless, letting Jane sit close to him.
Helen glared at Jane; she exclaimed, "Who are you calling a short and mediocre fatty?"
Jane looked her up and down. "Is there anyone else here?"
"Say it again if you dare!" Helen fumed.
"Miss, you're about 5 feet, 140 pounds, and not exactly a beauty, so calling you a short and mediocre fatty is accurate, or should I say a tall fatty?"
Jane didn't really want to belittle Helen because it was impolite.
But now she had to repay Zephyr's favor, so she had to be a bit ruthless.
Helen's face changed rapidly in anger. "Who are you? Who let you sit here?"
Jane glanced at Zephyr, then suddenly reached out and took his arm.
"I am Zephyr's girlfriend."
Zephyr was shocked. 'My girlfriend!'
'When did this happen, and why didn't I know?'
Zephyr's arm stiffened, turning to look at Jane, silently questioning.
'Was there something wrong with this Helen? Was Jane using him as a shield again?' Zephyr thought.
Jane, unaware of Zephyr's thoughts, winked at him, smiling without saying a word.
Helen glared at Jane, nearly exploding at being called a fatty. Helen looked Jane up and down, noticing her ordinary attire. It was clear at a glance that Jane was not wealthy, which immediately elicited a look of disdain on Helen's face.
"Zephyr, so you've got yourself a girlfriend, and she happens to be from poor origins!" Helen mocked.
Zephyr was a bit slow to react, not quite grasping Jane's intentions, momentarily speechless.
"Strictly speaking, I am the one pursuing Zephyr; he has yet to give me a definitive answer," Jane remarked before turning her gaze towards Zephyr.
"Zephyr, please don't reject me for this fat woman. I overheard her belittling you on the phone in the restroom."
"She doesn't value you at all. In her eyes, marriage is merely a tool for flaunting social status. Though my background may be humble, my feelings for you are sincere. I admire your talents above all else. If you choose to be with me, I will ensure your happiness beyond measure."
Jane looked deeply into his eyes, her words heartfelt as if genuinely professing her feelings.
Zephyr felt a strange stir in his heart, unsure of how to respond.
Suddenly, a realization dawned on him: Jane might not be on a mission this time but instead stepping in to rescue him.
Just like last time during the blind date when Zephyr couldn't bear to see others belittle Jane, he stepped forward to uphold her honor.
On the other side, Helen was on the brink of fury as Jane's thinly veiled insults struck a nerve.
"You, a pauper, dare to come here and steal a man from me; who do you think you are? Even if I don't like the man, he would not be yours, you lowlife!" Helen said.
Upon hearing this, Jane turned to look at Helen, just as she was about to speak, Nora's voice came from behind.
"Miss, what do you mean by 'lowlife'? She's my friend, who dares to slander her?"
Jane swallowed the words on her lips. Seeing Nora walk over to their table, she raised an eyebrow, a slight smile playing on her lips.
Nora was here to support her.
Although she didn't want to admit it. Society was just that realistic.
In the face of power and influence, it was about who had the upper hand.
Being from a prestigious family, Helen naturally recognized Nora, the heiress of the Hamilton family in Lindenwood City.
Seeing Nora suddenly appear, her face changed slightly, feeling a bit embarrassed.
"So you're Ms. Hamilton; I didn't know she was your friend," Helen said.
Nora remained calm. "Now that you know, there's no need to continue this blind date."
After glancing at Zephyr, Helen's eyes showed a hint of unwillingness.
But in front of Nora, she didn't dare say anything more, so she could only grab her belongings and leave.
Seeing Helen leave, Nora smiled. "Dr. Wright, sorry for ruining your blind date; I hope you don't blame us."
Zephyr watched as Helen was driven away like that, not having a chance to intervene, and couldn't help but smile.
"No, I should thank you for helping me solve a big problem."
Nora blinked. "So you didn't actually want to come on this blind date?"
Zephyr nodded, somewhat helpless. "My father forced me to come."
Jane's hand slipped away from his arm.
"I knew you wouldn't be interested in such vulgar women."
