Chapter 736 Intentionally Elevate His Status
Becky was still pondering over who Aaron really was.
As soon as they entered, he kept staring at Nora.
Upon hearing Aaron and Nora greet each other, she slightly paused, surprised, and asked, "Do you two know each other?"
"Yes, Becky, he is the heir of the Bilian Group and also Evella's elder brother, Joseph." Nora briefed Becky on the knowledge.
Becky had heard of Evella before and suddenly realized, nodding in understanding. "So he's Evella's elder brother."
Jesse, sitting on the other side, kept his gaze shifting towards Nora.
Seeing Joseph and Nora acquainted, he chuckled. "Mr. Martinez, I didn't expect you to know this beautiful lady?"
"Yes, Mr. Rothschild, she is the fiancée of Aaron, the heir of the renowned Gordon Group," Aaron replied.
As Aaron uttered the words "renowned," Nora felt a shiver down her spine.
She instinctively glanced at Aaron, noticing his intense gaze fixed on her.
Nora felt like Aaron was deliberately trying to elevate his status in front of Jesse.
"I've heard of Aaron from the Gordon Group. So, Ms. Smith is Aaron's fiancée," Jesse remarked with a hint of regret as if the prey he had his eyes on had been snatched away.
"Ms. Smith, come over and chat," Aaron invited.
Aaron, noticing Nora sitting a bit far from him, deliberately remarked.
"No need, Mr. Martinez; the air conditioning vent is blowing directly towards your side; it's a bit strong. It's better over here," Nora said.
Raising an eyebrow, Aaron asked, "Feeling cold, Ms. Smith?"
Before Nora could respond, he picked up his suit jacket, strode over to Nora, and draped it over her shoulders.
"Is this better now?" Aaron said, seating himself next to Nora.
Nora continued, "Thank you for your concern, Mr. Martinez; I feel much better now."
Nora smiled, feeling like Aaron's actions were intentional.
He deliberately covered her up with the jacket, preventing others from seeing her neckline.
"It's only natural. Since you and Evella are good friends, and Evella calls me brother, it's only right for me to take care of you a bit more in public," Aaron said, gazing deeply into Nora's eyes behind his glasses, his tone filled with tenderness.
Nora chuckled softly, adjusted her clothes, and silently cursed the man.
'What's he doing?'
'Clearly, he understood the look others shared.'
'However, he insisted on making a scene.'
'Couldn't he just focus on the matter at hand?'
Thinking to herself, Nora deliberately asked, "Are you discussing business? We came abruptly; hope we're not disturbing you?"
Jesse had been observing Aaron and Nora's interactions, sensing something.
'Joseph seemed overly concerned about Nora,' Jesse thought.
When Nora looked over, Jesse smiled and said, "No, having beauty around only adds to the atmosphere. Let's have dinner together."
Nora thought that by meeting Jesse tonight, she might extract some useful information at the dinner table while being with Aaron, so she didn't refuse.
Aaron glanced at Nora, realizing her intentions as she didn't object Jesse's invitation.
As the group headed towards the dining table, Aaron walked to Nora's side and gently took her hand.
Startled, Nora shot Aaron a glance and whispered in a voice only they could hear, "Let go quickly."
"Go back," Aaron whispered back.
"I won't," Nora resisted.
"Listen to me," Aaron insisted.
"No way," Nora pushed back.
Nora tried to pull her hand away forcefully, but Aaron didn't release his grip.
At that moment, Becky, who was walking ahead, unconsciously turned her head back to look at Nora and noticed the entanglement between the two.
Her eyes widened in shock.
"You!"
"Becky!"
Startled, Nora quickly pulled her hand away from Aaron and shouted, leaving Becky's sentence hanging in the air.
Then, Nora swiftly approached Becky, grabbed her hand firmly, and forced a smile.
"My stomach feels a bit uncomfortable. Will you accompany me to the restroom?" Nora said.
Without waiting for a response, she pulled Becky along towards the exit.
Aaron subtly adjusted his glasses, his eyes tracking Nora and Becky as they left. A wisp of a smile danced on his lips, lingering for a moment before shifting his gaze away.
"Mr. Martinez, don't stare too much, " Jesse teased from the dining table.
Aaron chuckled, walked over, and took a seat at the table.
Observing him, Jesse probed, "Mr. Martinez, are you interested in that, Ms. Smith?"
Of course, he was interested!
He and Nora were about to get married!
Aaron thought to himself, pushed his glasses up, and didn't deny it. "She's quite beautiful."
A glint of interest flashed in Jesse's eyes. "Weren't you deeply in love with that Evella, calling out her name even when unconscious?"
Aaron smirked. "So what? It's normal for a man to like several women."
"Fair point." Jesse laughed, feeling a sense of camaraderie with Aaron.
Sunny, on the side, sweetly remarked, "Mr. Rothschild, you're not allowed to like anyone else, especially those two women who just left. You promised to support me, remember?"
Such was the nature of men, and Sunny feared Jesse might abandon her after seeing Nora and Becky.
Jesse looked at Sunny. "Then tell me, who has abandoned you before?"
Jesse unknowingly fell for Becky's instigation.
That damn Becky.
Sunny inwardly cursed, her gaze flickering, and denied, "Mr. Rothschild, they slandered me; I've never been abandoned by anyone."
Jesse playfully asked, "Who is this Mr. Gordon that Ms. Smith mentioned. Is it Aaron?"
Sunny paused, choosing her words carefully.
"Indeed, there are rumors that I am Aaron's kept woman, but it's all baseless. There is nothing between us."
"It's just that the entertainment industry is like Vanity Fair. If I hadn't leveraged Aaron's status to survive in the entertainment circle, I would have been eliminated long ago. Just like this time, if you hadn't supported me in time, I wouldn't be here serving you now."
Sunny appeared aggrieved and fragile, evoking sympathy.
In reality, Jesse wasn't really concerned about whether she had been abandoned by a man.
He wasn't looking for a wife, just having some fun.
However, Sunny's words pleased him even more.
Jesse raised his hand and teasingly pinched Sunny's hip. "Serve me well, and I will definitely spoil you."
"This is your promise, no backing out," Sunny said.
Relieved that Jesse believed her, Sunny hurriedly poured wine for Jesse, taking a breath.
Aaron sipped his coffee, listening to Sunny's words.
Five years ago, Aaron mistakenly thought he had slept with Sunny and, out of guilt, provided her with many resources.
Sunny shamelessly accepted his gifts, displaying an extraordinary level of audacity.
Now that both Nora and Aaron knew the truth, he just wanted to teach Sunny a lesson.
However, Aaron wondered how Nora planned to punish Sunny.
