Chapter 334 Secret Meetings with Zephyr

Sandy froze, quickly lowered her gaze, and hurried toward her car.

"Wait," Zephyr called out from behind her.

Sandy paused, her steps halting as Zephyr approached. She took a wary step back. "What's up?" Her demeanor suggested she was pushing him miles away.

Zephyr heaved a silent sigh and pulled out a small tube of cream from his pocket, placing it in her hand.

"This is a scar repair cream I had someone bring back from overseas. Apply it to your burn after you shower each day. I hear it's very effective for scar treatment." His voice was gentle, his dark eyes filled with a haunting depth of affection and a hint of sadness.

Sandy's heart ached mildly. She quickly handed the cream back to him.

"Mr. Tom, I appreciate your kindness, but I don't need it." With that said, she lowered her gaze once more and walked swiftly to her car.

Zephyr watched as she drove away, then his gaze slowly fell to his palm, and he managed to put on a bitter smile.

Even knowing this would be the outcome, he couldn't help but be hopeful.

She didn't need it, so it might as well be thrown away. Zephyr tossed the cream into a trash bin and then got into his car and drove off.

Sandy had already driven a bit when, through her rearview mirror, she spotted Zephyr's actions.

She gripped the steering wheel tight and slowed down, waiting for Zephyr's car to vanish from sight. Once he was gone, she floored the accelerator and pulled over to the side of the road.

She got out and headed straight for the trash bin.

Opening the lid, she stared at the cream lying inside. She was silent for a moment, then bent down and picked it up.

Her nose tingled uncontrollably, and her eyes began to moisten. Clutching the cream in her hand, her throat felt choked up.

Suddenly, there were two beeps behind her. It was a car honking.

Startled, Sandy turned to see a familiar license plate. It was Kenneth! Panic shimmered in Sandy’s eyes as she instinctively hid her hand behind her back.

Kenneth stepped out of her car and strode over with a slight frown of confusion, asked, “Sandy, what were you just rummaging through the trash for?”

"No, nothing." Sandy lowered her eyes, her gaze flickering uncertainly.

Kenneth watched her, eyes narrowing at the sight of Sandy's nervous demeanor. He quickly pulled her hand closer and looked at the ointment she held, "What's this?"

Sandy swallowed hard, "It's, it's ointment."

Kenneth picked up the ointment and examined it, "Looks pretty new, where did you get it?"

Sandy bit her red lip and remained silent, her head hanging low. She was not good at lying and didn't know what to say.

Kenneth studied her, thought of something, and lifted her chin with his hand, his voice cold, "Did Zephyr give this to you?"

Sandy's face turned pale; she wanted to say something but couldn't make a sound.

Kenneth's gaze fell on her reddened eyes, the hostility emanating from him growing stronger.

The ointment must have been a gift from Zephyr. His precious wife, still sneaking around to secretly meet with Zephyr!

Kenneth's face turned cold, his lips forming a sharp arc. He let go of Sandy and, without a word, turned and strode quickly toward his car.

The car door slammed shut, the sound carrying an unmistakable rage, signaling just how angry he was at that moment!

Sandy stood pale, her face filled with panic and confusion.

She had made him angry! What should she do? Having cut ties with her past, why did she impulsively come back for this ointment?

Inside the car, Kenneth revved the engine to 180 mph, his chiseled face covered in a scowl. His mind was filled with images of Sandy's reddened eyes and her bewildered look.

He pursed his lips and abruptly pulled over to the side of the road.

Staring ahead into the void, he eventually pulled out his cell phone and made a call to his assistant.

"Look into Zephyr for me, I want all the information, from his childhood to now!" he ordered.

He needed to know the exact nature of the relationship between Zephyr and Sandy!

Meanwhile, Nora sat in the car, listening to the babbling of the three little ones, instantly filled with contentment.

"By the way, sweeties, who brought you to Lindwood City?" she asked.

Samantha replied, "It was grandpa who brought us here."

Nora was taken aback and looked toward Aaron, who was sitting in the passenger seat, "Your grandpa came too?"

"He is waiting for us back at the villa," Aaron said.

Nora, who was initially relaxed, tensed up immediately. "How did your grandpa find the time to come?" she asked.

Aaron looked back at her with a smile. "Nervous? Don't be afraid, it's not the first time you've met him," he reassured her.

Indeed, it wasn't their first meeting, as they saw each other daily albeit through video calls with the three little ones. But this was to be their first face-to-face encounter in real life.

Nora felt a bit daunted. She subconsciously checked out her outfit.

"Aaron, does this outfit look too old? Is it impolite to meet your grandpa dressed like this?" she inquired.

Aaron curled his lip into a smile. "It's fine, he's seen you in pajamas already, hasn't he?"

Nora was speechless. That had been an accident, plus it was his fault for not reminding her earlier!

Annoyed, Nora pinched him.

Aaron hissed in pain and turned to the three little ones. "Kids, your Mommy is picking on me again!"

The three children looked at him and then at Nora, bursting into laughter. With that bit of teasing, Nora's mood lightened considerably.

"I need to go give Mrs. Brown her acupuncture treatment first, the rest of you may head back," Nora said.

Hollis's leg had shown significant improvement under her care. She was now able to stand and take a few difficult steps.

"Mommy, we'll wait for you in the car to go back together," Samantha cooed. Her two brothers nodded in agreement.

"Did you hear that? We're waiting for you in the car," Aaron told her.

Since all four of them felt this way, Nora didn't insist on sending them back.

Frederic drove them to Quinn's villa.

Once there, Nora entered the villa to treat Hollis, while Aaron stayed in the car with the three little ones.

Inside the villa, Mary supported Hollis because she still struggled to walk.

"Mrs. Brown, I'm here," greeted Nora.

"I'm here," responded Hollis, her complexion pale, but her spirit good, and her smile a bit broader. After all, her leg was regaining sensation, and she was taking another step toward normalcy.

Nora helped her into the room and, as usual, started the acupuncture treatment.

Hollis's leg nerves were becoming increasingly sensitive, and she could feel a more intense prickling sensation as Nora inserted the needles.

"Nora, thank you. If it weren't for you, I might never have had the chance to stand again in my life," she said.

Hollis was thrilled and immensely grateful to Nora.

Nora smiled, saying, "Mrs. Brown, you're showing good signs of recovery. From now on, you don't need daily treatments anymore. Once a week will suffice. I'll prescribe a new course of treatment for you, and from here on out we'll focus on the medication as the primary treatment. I'll also teach you some rehabilitation exercises to do at home."

"Okay," Hollis nodded in agreement.

Nora checked the time, explaining the important points about the rehabilitation exercises during their session.

Once it was time, she removed the needles from Hollis.

Nora said, "I'll be going now, Mrs. Brown."

"Let me walk you out," Hollis offered.

Mary assisted Hollis as she insisted on escorting Nora to the door.

Outside, Frederic was waiting by the car. As soon as he saw Nora exit, he hurried to open the passenger door for her.

Hollis glanced at the car and asked, "Nora, are you and Aaron still together?"
