Chapter 131 Movie Preferences
Aaron had started his rehabilitation routine.
Nora stood by, occasionally offering encouragement and support as she watched him work through his exercises.
Fine beads of sweat traced the lines of Aaron's forehead, and Nora reached for a towel to dab them away.
At that moment, Noe and the three kids, who had completed their villa tour, arrived at the gym.
Seeing Nora assist Aaron with rehab, they all scampered to cheer him on.
Aaron's chest rose and fell gently as he laughed. "You kids, go on and play. Mom's got this covered."
"Okay," chorused the three children in response.
After a few more leg exercises, Aaron glanced at Nora and mentioned, "I'm a bit thirsty."
"Then rest for a bit. I'll go get you some water," Nora responded.
She helped Aaron to an adjacent bench to take a break and then stepped out of the gym.
Curiosity getting the better of him, Alex ran over to Aaron's side as soon as Nora left.
"Mr. Gordon, who is that lady to you?" He needed to find out if she was Mr. Gordon's girlfriend.
Wiping his forehead with a towel, Aaron replied, "She's a friend."
The boy's eyes twinkled with curiosity. "Is she your girlfriend?"
Aaron met his gaze and smiled. "No, she's like a sister to me."
"But does she like you?" Alex probed, his large, onyx-like eyes narrowing slightly.
Aaron raised an eyebrow. "Alex, with my status, there are surely many who fancy me. What are you getting at?"
"I'm asking if you like her," pressed Alex.
Aaron chuckled. "Like I said, I see her as a sister; I don't have feelings for her."
"Really?"
"Definitely. Your mom is the only one I like," Aaron stated earnestly.
Alex stared into his eyes briefly before nodding, "Then you better work hard to win my mom over."
Raising an eyebrow, Aaron asked, "Aren't you kids going to help me out?"
Patting Aaron's shoulder, Alex shrugged. "No, Mr. Gordon, it's better to rely on oneself than others. We can't help you."
Aaron fell silent.
After his declaration, Alex darted off to play with his siblings.
By the time Nora returned with a glass of water, Aaron had resumed his stretches and managed a few sips before she called a halt to the session.
"That's enough for today," she said.
Aaron's heart rate slowly settled. "I'm going to shower."
"I'll be taking the kids back then," Nora mentioned.
Aaron's gaze shifted. "Wait a moment. I just finished my workout; I need to stretch out first."
Nora thought that stretching was something Noe could help with, too.
Nora's lips quivered, but ultimately, she remained silent.
"Fine, seeing as he helped me move and was busy running around, I might as well stick around to help him stretch," Nora thought.
"Alright, go ahead and shower; I'll wait here for you."
Aaron smiled contentedly and said, "Help me up."
Nora obliged, assisting him to the bathroom.
Alex watched them leave, approached Noe and motioned for him to lower himself.
"Something up?" Noe crouched down, almost instinctively.
"There's a screening room on the third floor, right?" Alex whispered.
"Yeah."
"Later, take Mom to the screening room. She can help Mr. Gordon with his stretches while they watch a movie."
Mr. Gordon couldn't say he wasn't helping him out.
It was an opportunity for Aaron—whether he and Mom could build a rapport, that was the question.
"Got it," Noe understood instantly, giving a hand signal.
Billy noticed the two whispering and asked, "Alex, what are you telling Noe?"
"Why are you having a secret chat with Noe?" Samantha chimed in.
Alex replied, "You'll see in a bit."
The kids didn't ask any further, playing joyfully in the room.
Before long, Nora returned.
Catching Alex's eye, Noe grinned and walked over to Nora.
"Nora, please come with me to the lounge to wait for Mr. Gordon."
"Alex is usually so quiet; who knew he had such good ideas? Watching a movie together in the screening room, who knows what else they might get up to—sounds fun," Nora thought.
"Okay."
Without giving it much thought, Nora followed Noe to the screening room.
"Nora, take a seat. I'll go check if Mr. Gordon is ready," Noe said, pouring her a glass of water.
"Sure."
Nora responded, taking a sip from the glass.
Noe then left the screening room and entered the master bedroom.
"Mr. Gordon, call for me when you're ready."
Aaron responded from inside, signaling Noe to come in and assist him.
"Where is she?"
Aaron, not seeing Nora, started to worry that she had left.
"Nora's in the screening room," Noe replied.
A flicker of surprise passed through Aaron's eyes. "Why did she go to the screening room?"
"Alex asked me to invite Nora there to wait for you. He suggested she could help with your stretches while you both watch a movie," Noe answered truthfully.
Aaron's brow lifted, and there was a hint of amusement in his eyes.
Alex was just like their mother, never saying what they felt!
Noe helped Aaron into the screening room and then left.
Aaron slipped into a black silk robe.
As he settled into the recliner, his solid chest and long legs were partially exposed.
Nora sat beside him, her gaze inadvertently brushing over his honey-toned skin before quickly looking away.
"Aren't you cold without pajamas? I can find you a blanket," she offered, glancing around, ready to stand up.
"No need; I'm still warm from the bath," Aaron replied, a playful arch in his brow as he caught Nora's furtive look.
How else would he catch her attention without baring some skin?
Nora silently resigned, taking her place beside him once more to help him stretch his legs.
The room was dim, curtains drawn, illuminated only by the soft glow of a single lamp.
From a drawer, Aaron produced a remote and switched on the projector.
"What movies do you like?" he asked.
Busy massaging him, Nora responded calmly, "Anything's fine."
It was just to pass the time; she'd be coming soon anyway.
Aaron, eyes glistening with anticipation, flipped through the films, pausing on a horror movie.
Most women are faint-hearted, he thought. Would she jump into his arms at the first scare?
He immediately hit play after becoming excited by the idea.
Nora hadn't noticed the title before Aaron turned off the lights. The images caught her eye only when she looked up at the large screen.
In the dimness, the flickering screen felt like an old-time movie theatre experience – quaint and intriguing.
She continued to stretch Aaron as the movie played, starting with an ordinary scene.
A couple shared a room in a foreign land, engaging in flirtation.
Nora's ears burned at the seductive sounds filling the room, wondering if Aaron had done this intentionally.
Why would he choose something so provocative?
A sudden change in the movie cut off her silent criticism.
At the height of their passion, the man reached into the drawer for a condom.
But when he turned back, the woman's face on the bed twisted into a grotesque visage, her tongue lolling and her mouth gaping menacingly.
