Chapter 920 How Could It Be Him

Finnegan was surprised. "You mean the Wright family's illegitimate kid?"

"Yeah," the assistant replied. "I checked the footage. He saved Mr. Hayes just in time."

Finnegan frowned, deep in thought. 'It's Zephyr. Was it a coincidence? Or did he do it to secure the collaboration? No, it must be a coincidence. Zephyr wouldn't know he saved Mason. Otherwise, he would've used it to his advantage at the party.'

Finnegan pictured Zephyr. Unlike other illegitimate kids, Zephyr's eyes were clear, not clouded by ambition.

"Mr. Foster, Hubert set up a meeting for tomorrow, probably about the collaboration," the assistant said.

A hint of mockery crossed Finnegan's face. "Hubert hinted that if I agree to the deal, the Wright Group won't take a cent of profit."

Hubert had called Finnegan yesterday, clearly wanting to secure the contract first, leaving Zephyr with nothing.

"Are you going to the meeting?" the assistant asked. "Getting the Wright Group working for free is a huge win for us."

True, if Finnegan didn't know Zephyr saved Mason, he'd definitely go. But now, it wasn't just about that. He'd heard about Hubert's reputation. Hubert wasn't a kind person. Finnegan preferred dealing with straightforward people.

"Decline it for now. Let's wait and see," Finnegan said. Zephyr saved Mason, so Finnegan would give him a chance. He wanted to see what Zephyr would do next. Would he back down after tonight's rejection? If so, Finnegan could repay him in other ways.

Zephyr and Jane got home. Jane went to shower while Zephyr headed to the study to research winemaking. When Jane finished, she heard the doorbell.

"I'll get it," Zephyr said, rushing to open the door.

Jane saw him bring in a big bag. "What did you buy?"

"Stuff for making wine," Zephyr replied.

Jane was speechless. Zephyr was really going to make wine in the middle of the night.

"Where'd you get all this?" she asked.

"I called the supermarket manager. They delivered it," Zephyr said.

The Wright Group owned a supermarket. Zephyr knew how to use resources.

Jane teased, "Why not have the employees make it for you?"

Zephyr carried the stuff to the kitchen. "If someone else makes it, there's no sincerity."

Jane helped him carry some things. "But what if it doesn't taste good?"

Zephyr put the stuff down. "If it doesn't, I'll keep trying until it does."

Jane raised an eyebrow. "But time waits for no one. By the time you succeed, someone else might have secured the collaboration."

Zephyr stayed calm. "That's why I'll nail it on the first try."

He laid out the four or five basins he bought. "Making this much wine at once, at least one batch will turn out right."

Jane was speechless. She finally understood why he had so many basins delivered—they were all for making wine. Smart move.

"Need my help?" she asked.

"No, you can't even cook. Don't make it worse," Zephyr replied.

Jane felt a bit insulted but decided to let him be. She went back to her room to dry her hair and think about the day's events. After drying her hair, she looked up Finnegan's info, trying to figure out how to get him to agree to the collaboration.

While scanning, she stopped at Mason's info. Finnegan seemed sentimental, and if Zephyr's wine didn't impress him, maybe they could use Mason as a way in. She looked at Mason's photo and realized he was the old man Zephyr saved. This could be their chance.

But if they approached Finnegan with this info now, it might seem like they were demanding a favor. Even if they got the collaboration, it could make Finnegan resentful. Jane decided to hold off and not tell Zephyr yet. She'd wait until Zephyr finished the wine and then see how things went.

Feeling more at ease, Jane went to the kitchen and saw Zephyr soaking the materials. Leaning against the door frame, she asked, "Zephyr, are you sure you can do this?"

"How will I know if I don't try?" he replied without looking up.

Jane laughed. "I know you can do it without trying."

Zephyr looked up at her. She was wearing a white oversized T-shirt and shorts, her long legs glowing under the light. He felt a rush of blood, probably from the bit of alcohol he had. Quickly looking away, he said, "Alright, you've had a long day. Go rest."

"Don't you need me to stay and help?" Jane asked.

"Don't bother," Zephyr said.

"Alright, take your time. I'm going back to my room," Jane replied.

As she turned to leave, Zephyr's eyes unconsciously fell on her long legs, his Adam's apple bobbing. He didn't expect Jane to suddenly turn around.

"Zephyr, what are you looking at?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.
