Chapter 910 Give Him a Little Reward

He glanced around, found a quiet corner, and answered the phone.

"Hello?"

"Mr. Taylor, I heard you're working with Zephyr now?" Hubert's voice was sharp.

Quentin gave a nervous chuckle and lowered his voice. "Sorry, Mr. Wright, I can't help you sabotage them anymore."

Hubert sneered. "Didn't expect you to fold. He's just an illegitimate son. Are you really that scared?"

Quentin sighed. "It's not fear, it's complicated. Zephyr and Jane are tough. I can't help you, sorry."

Hubert's voice turned icy. "We've been friends for years, and now you're switching sides? How ungrateful! Remember, I'm the future heir of the Wright Group. Think carefully. Are you sure you are gonna back an illegitimate son with no clout."

Quentin looked pained. "I get it, Mr. Wright, but my hands are tied. If I could help, I would. I'm truly stuck here."

Hubert asked, "Did he catch you on something?"

Quentin's eyes flickered. "Let's just say it's complicated. But there's one thing that could make them lose face."

"What is it?"

"The company wants a deal with Vitalis Pharmaceuticals. Zephyr's leading it now. We can't let him secure it."

Hubert paused, then laughed coldly. "Got it."

After hanging up, Hubert made another call.

"Mr. Foster, long time no see."

Meanwhile, Zephyr and Jane returned to the office.

Zephyr shut the door, loosened his tie, and sighed.

Jane handed him a cup of coffee. "So, how's your first day as general manager?"

Zephyr took a sip. "Exhausting! Worse than a 24-hour surgery."

Jane laughed. "That bad?"

Zephyr nodded. "Doing a job you hate is draining."

Jane raised an eyebrow. "Not really. I managed three years dealing with gang leaders."

Zephyr felt a surge of admiration. He'd only dealt with department heads and was already worn out. Jane had faced gang leaders daily during her undercover years.

"Thanks for today. It was tough."

Jane had taken charge all day, while Zephyr was mostly a figurehead.

"Feeling sorry for me?" Jane teased, stepping closer.

Zephyr wanted to say yes but wouldn't admit it. "You're my assistant. It's your job, right?"

Jane thought he was being prideful. She pinched his lips. "Your lips are soft, but your words are hard."

Her cool fingers on his warm lips sent a shiver down his spine. Zephyr pulled her hand down and drew her into his arms.

"What are you doing, teasing me?"

Jane raised an eyebrow. "Come on! Look at us. Who's teasing whom?"

Zephyr was at a loss for words and instinctively tried to pull away, but Jane tightened her grip around his waist.

"Honey, you've had a tough day. Want a little reward?" she teased, her eyes sparkling with amusement.

Was the reward a kiss? Zephyr's gaze drifted to Jane's rosy lips, his throat tightening.

Just then, a knock on the door was followed by someone walking in.

"Mr. Wright."

Jane quickly let go of Zephyr, but Quentin, who had just entered, saw them in an embrace.

Quentin was momentarily stunned.

Zephyr cleared his throat. "Mr. Taylor, could you knock before entering next time?"

Quentin snapped out of it. "I did knock."

"Did I ask you to come in?"

"Sorry, I was too eager."

Jane remained calm. "Mr. Taylor, do you need something?"

"These are the documents related to Vitalis Pharmaceuticals," Quentin said, handing over a stack of papers.

"Alright," Jane took the documents.

"By the way, there's a party tonight, and Finnegan is expected to attend. Originally, Mr. Petrov and I were going to talk to him about the partnership, but now he is in trouble."

"What time is the party tonight, and where is it being held?" Jane asked.

"Seven o'clock, at the Oman Hotel," Quentin replied.

"Got it, Mr. Wright will attend personally."

"Alright."

Quentin hesitated. "Ms. Harvey, about last night at Celestial Haven..."

"Don't worry, Mr. Wright is a professional. As long as you continue to serve the company as you always have, we will forget what we saw last night and won't remind your wife," Jane warned, signaling Quentin to stay loyal.

Quentin quickly said, "Ms. Harvey, rest assured, I will continue to serve the company as I always have."

Jane looked at Quentin and added, "But Mr. Taylor, I must remind you, Mr. Wright values loyalty deeply. He hopes his subordinates are loyal to the company and to their marriage. I hope you take this to heart."

Quentin felt uncomfortable being warned by these two juniors but didn't dare show it. He just nodded. "Understood. If there's nothing else, I'll leave now."

"Alright."

Once the door closed, Zephyr and Jane exchanged a glance, neither speaking for a moment.

Zephyr was still a bit distracted. His gaze fell on Jane's red lips, feeling a bit regretful. If Quentin hadn't interrupted, would Jane have kissed him?

Thinking about the reward, Zephyr's throat itched again. He quickly looked away and picked up the documents Quentin had brought to change the subject.

"Are we attending the party tonight?"

"Yes, this is your first major project since taking office. If you can't secure this deal, all our efforts today will be in vain," Jane said.

Zephyr looked through the documents, a hint of helplessness in his eyes. "But I know nothing about business."

Jane patted Zephyr's shoulder. "Don't worry, you're the boss. Just give orders and let your subordinates handle the rest."

Zephyr's only subordinate was Jane. "So, it looks like I'll have to trouble you again," he said.

Jane glanced at him, teasing, "Yes, being your subordinate is a tough job. So, Mr. Wright, don't you plan to give me a little reward first?"

Zephyr was speechless. Jane had just said she would give him a reward, and now she wanted him to give her a reward!
