Chapter 959 Was This Her Revenge
Johnnie quickly skimmed through her phone's call logs and messages but found nothing odd.
After a moment, he pulled out the chip he had prepared and started tinkering with it.
In no time, the phone was back to its original state.
He gently placed the phone back, his eyes lingering on Gabriella's peaceful sleeping face. After a while, he looked away, lifted the blanket, and lay down.
Gabriella shifted slightly, tossed aside the hot water bottle, and snuggled into his arms.
Johnnie frowned but stayed still.
Gabriella hugged his waist and placed his hand on her lower abdomen.
Johnnie's body tensed, and he carefully observed her expression.
Gabriella's steady breathing showed it was an unconscious action.
Johnnie relaxed a bit. After a moment, he gently massaged her lower abdomen.
He had no other intentions; he just didn't want her to notice anything unusual before he had a conclusion.
The next day, Aaron got up, washed up, and checked his phone.
Sure enough, the scene of him meeting Gabriella last night was online.
But the news surprised him.
It didn't say he was secretly meeting another woman behind Nora's back. Instead, it praised how loving he and Nora were.
The writer mistook Gabriella for Nora, saying the couple had a romantic evening after spending time with Mateo and then secretly met up.
Their relationship was enviable.
"What are you looking at?"
Nora had just woken up, walked over to Aaron, and hugged his neck.
Aaron pulled her onto his lap, a hint of mockery in his eyes.
"Someone's playing tricks."
He handed the phone to Nora. She glanced at the news and was equally surprised.
"The reporter last night was called by Gabriella. Why didn't she have the reporter write that you were likely cheating, but instead wrote about how loving we are?"
Aaron smirked. "That's probably her cleverness. If she directly exposed a scandal of me cheating, wouldn't we suspect it was premeditated? Then we would trace it back to her."
"But writing it like this, we would only think the reporter wanted to capture our private life and accidentally caught me meeting her. This way, she wouldn't be exposed."
Nora nodded. "Makes sense. But this way, it won't affect you much, but it will affect her. I'll be more cautious of her."
Aaron smiled again. "It doesn't affect me? Honey, you're wrong. Netizens aren't stupid. Look at the comments below."
Nora scrolled through the comments and found that after many initial comments praising their loving relationship, different voices began to appear.
[Why do I feel like the woman in the photo isn't Mrs. Gordon?]
[Turns out I'm not the only one who thinks so. Mrs. Gordon is a bit thinner than the woman in the photo.]
[This seems to be another woman who was with them?]
[Oh my God, does Aaron cheat on Nora?]
[He used to show so much love for Mrs. Gordon, but it was all fake?]
[We've all been deceived. Aaron is just a fraud!]
Seeing the comments, Nora frowned.
"Honey, what should we do now? Gabriella trying to drive a wedge between us is one thing, but the damage to your reputation could seriously jeopardize diplomatic relations between our countries."
Aaron squinted. "She brought reporters on purpose. Maybe that's her endgame."
Nora thought for a moment. "Could this be her revenge?"
"Probably," Aaron replied.
Meanwhile, Johnnie stood in line at a busy breakfast shop, checking the news on his phone and frowning.
'Were the reporters last night called by Gabriella?' he wondered. 'Is this all her plan? To drive a wedge between Aaron and Nora, even if it damages Aaron's reputation? But would that really help her get Aaron? Or is there more to it?'
A red light flashed on his phone with a beep. Someone was calling Gabriella!
Johnnie's eyes darkened, and he put on his Bluetooth headset.
In the room, Gabriella was woken up by her phone ringing. She glanced at the caller ID and instantly woke up. It was Rafael.
She instinctively looked to her side, but Johnnie wasn't there. She sat up and hung up, then skimmed through the morning news.
She saw the news about her and smiled. Rafael must have seen it too, which was why he called.
Gabriella got out of bed, checked the room to make sure Johnnie wasn't there, and then called Rafael back.
The call connected quickly.
"Rafael, don't call me these days. I'll reach out if I need anything."
Rafael laughed. "Gabriella, was the news about Aaron your doing?"
"Yes," she admitted.
"I knew I wasn't wrong about you. You're very smart," Rafael praised. "I wanted a scandal between Mateo and Nora, but tarnishing Aaron's reputation works too."
Gabriella smiled. "Thanks for the compliment."
Rafael continued, "Even with this scandal, Aaron and Mateo might downplay it for national interests and continue their cooperation. Gabriella, I need you to get their confidential cooperation documents soon."
Gabriella frowned. "That's a tall order. Tarnishing their reputation is easy, but stealing documents is beyond me."
Rafael chuckled. "Don't underestimate yourself. You managed to seduce Johnnie, showing you're not ordinary. I believe you can get what I need."
A trace of displeasure flashed in Gabriella's eyes. "That's different."
For some reason, she couldn't bring herself to confess her true reasons for approaching Johnnie.
"Gabriella, it's not that you can't do it; you just don't want to, right?" Rafael asked suddenly.
Gabriella was stunned and speechless for a moment.
She wanted to take revenge on Aaron, but only by driving a wedge between him and Nora. She didn't want to be labeled a corporate spy.
Rafael's sinister voice came through the line.
"Gabriella, you have no choice. Since I contacted you, you're on my side. If you don't listen to me, I'll reveal your true identity!"
"Then you'll be a double agent for Hchilia and Chrisland, and both countries will hunt you down. Think carefully, do you want to spend the rest of your life on the run?"
