Chapter 1035 Do You Know Signe?

"How can you call this a small gift? This sachet is more valuable than any rare treasure. You all are so thoughtful," Tomas said, delighted as he took the sachet.

Tomas, having lived a life of wealth and luxury, had seen all kinds of rare treasures. Now, what mattered most to him was his health. Longevity meant more time to enjoy life. And since Nora was a miracle doctor, the sachet she gave must be top-notch. She really nailed the gift.

Nora knew Tomas was referring to Rafael when he said everyone was thoughtful. Yandel must have spoken highly of Rafael to Tomas.

"When you sleep, just put the sachet under your pillow," Nora reminded him.

"Got it," Tomas said, putting the sachet away.

Just then, his old servant Owen, who took care of his daily needs, brought over a bowl of medicine. "King Tomas, it's time for your medicine."

Tomas took the bowl and drank it in one gulp. Nora watched him finish, her eyes flickering.

"King Tomas, I heard a shaman recently arrived. Is this the tonic he prescribed for you?" Nora asked.

Tomas wiped his mouth with the napkin Owen handed him. "Yes, Dr. Yanez is quite skilled. I've been drinking his tonic for a while now and feel much more energetic. I'll introduce you to him later."

Tomas asked Owen to call Yandel over.

Nora exchanged a glance with Aaron. It was a good chance to see who this Yandel was.

Soon, Yandel arrived with Rafael.

"King Tomas."

"Father."

They greeted Tomas.

"Perfect timing. Dr. Yanez, let me introduce you. This is Aaron Gordon and his wife, Nora Gordon," Tomas said. "Nora is a famous miracle doctor in Chrisland and my goddaughter. You two are in the same field, so get to know each other."

Nora sized up Yandel. He wasn't Signe. Yandel was about the same age and dressed similarly, but his clothes were of much higher quality.

Yandel's gaze towards her wasn't friendly. "Mr. Gordon, Dr. Smith, I've heard a lot about you," he said arrogantly.

Aaron glanced at him indifferently and nodded slightly. "Sorry, I haven't heard of Dr. Yanez, but we have met another shaman."

Nora smiled and took over. "Dr. Yanez, do you know a witch shaman named Signe?"

Yandel's eyes flickered. "I don't know," he said.

That was a lie. He knew Signe. They were from the same place. But Signe wasn't as skilled and operated on a different level.

Signe could only fool ordinary people with his tricks. Yandel mingled in more elite circles.

A few days ago, Signe had called Yandel for help, saying Nora and Aaron were tormenting him to the point of near death and asked Yandel to save him.

Yandel had visited Signe and learned the whole story. Seeing Signe in pain, Yandel spent a long time diagnosing the cause before prescribing the right medication.

But the medicine wouldn't cure Signe immediately; he needed to take it for a while. This showed Nora had some real skills.

Signe had asked Yandel to avenge him, but Yandel was too busy to bother. He hadn't expected to run into Nora at the royal palace.

According to Rafael, Nora and Aaron were close to Mateo. Since Yandel was now aligned with Rafael, he was on the opposite side of Nora and Aaron.

He hoped they knew their place and wouldn't challenge him. Otherwise, he wouldn't mind competing with Nora and avenging Signe.

"Don't know him? I thought all shamans knew each other," Nora said with a slight, meaningful smile.

Yandel shot her a glance. "Dr. Smith, you're joking. Just like there are thousands of shamans, you can't know every one of them, right?"

Quick response. Nora's expression stayed calm. "It's good that you don't know Signe Christensen. He's a fraud. If you knew him, I'd doubt your skills. Maybe you're just like him, pretending to communicate with the dead and deceiving people."

Nora was implying he was a fraud. Yandel's face turned cold. "Dr. Smith, be careful with your words. Don't belittle others to elevate yourself."

Nora blinked innocently. "Did I say anything wrong?"

Yandel sneered internally. "You didn't say anything wrong, and neither did I."

They were exchanging barbs, and Tomas could see they didn't get along.

"Both of you, speak nicely," Tomas said, looking at Nora curiously. "Nora, what did you mean by a fraud just now?"

Nora replied, "Not long ago, Aaron and I met a shaman at Mr. Rochet's relative's house. He claimed to communicate with the dead but turned out to be a fraud. These shamans take advantage of people's reverence for the divine, pretending to communicate with gods. They're just deceiving people and taking their money. Some people, because of their faith, are even willing to be deceived."

Hearing this, Tomas seemed thoughtful. He glanced at Yandel, thinking of his own faith. Yandel's heart skipped a beat, annoyed at Nora's words.

He quickly said, "King Tomas, there are indeed many frauds, just like many doctors who, despite their lack of skill, become revered because of their connections. But we can't say all shamans are frauds. For example, you've seen my skills."

Yandel's words were well-spoken. Tomas thought of something and nodded, his doubts lessened.

Nora's eyes sparkled with intrigue as she looked at Yandel. This Yandel was indeed much more formidable than Signe. With just a few words, he made himself seem very innocent. "Dr. Yanez, may I ask, can you communicate with the divine? Can you show us your skills?"

Yandel now knew Aaron and Nora weren't friendly. He coldly replied, "Sorry, I only serve those blessed by the divine. Ordinary people aren't qualified for my services."

He arrogantly raised his chin, not taking Aaron and Nora seriously.

Aaron's lips curled coldly. "Dr. Yanez, is it that we're not qualified, or are you afraid to show us your skills?"

Yandel glanced at him. "Mr. Gordon, don't provoke me. Whether I have real skills, King Tomas knows."

Tomas smoothed things over. "Mr. Gordon, Nora, don't doubt Dr. Yanez. He indeed has some skills."
