Chapter 299 Kissing

"Thanks," Nora replied, accepting the tissue.

Gary observed her flushed and lovely face, his smile broadening. "Shall we continue?" he asked. He had initially perceived her as calm and collected, but he hadn't expected her to be so enthusiastic about the attractions!

"No, I've had enough for today," Nora replied. She was both exhausted and hungry, and the thought of lying down and resting was all too appealing.
"Why don't we grab dinner together?" Gary proposed, his eyes twinkling with anticipation.

Nora's gaze flickered towards him, meeting his hopeful smile before she averted her eyes.

"I'm afraid I have to decline, Gary. I'm in dire need of a shower," she said, her voice apologetic. "Perhaps another time, and I'll pick up the tab."

Gary's eyes brightened at her words. "Alright," he agreed, his heart pounding with excitement.

There would be a next time!

That was a step forward, wasn't it?

However, his joy was short-lived as Nora swiftly shattered his illusion.

"I should make myself clear," she began, her tone firm. "Don't misconstrue my intentions. I'm offering to pay for our meal because I don't want to be indebted to you."

Gary studied Nora's serious expression and chuckled. "Believe what you will, Nora. I'll stick to my perspective."

Perseverance was key to success, wasn't it?

Nora chose not to respond, recognizing that she couldn't control his thoughts. She felt a sense of resignation wash over her.

Why was Gary so infatuated with her?

After leaving the amusement park, Gary drove Nora back to her villa.

"Mr. Remington, I truly enjoyed today. Thank you," Nora expressed her gratitude, preparing to exit the car.

Suddenly, the car doors locked with a soft click. She turned to Gary, her face etched with confusion.

He reached into the back seat, pulling out a bouquet and presenting it to her.

"Nora, you left your belongings behind," he stated.

Nora, now holding the bouquet, was at a loss for words, but she lacked the energy to argue.

"Thank you. Could you please unlock the door now?"

Just then, Gary leaned towards her slightly.

"Nora, an older man can be quite dull. Don't you find it tedious being with him? If you want a boyfriend, you need someone lively like me. Only a cheerful guy like me can bring you joy every day."

Nora was taken aback.

Could she tell him he was Too overconfident?

Aaron might be significantly older than Gary, but he was still under thirty and not exactly old, was he?

Plus, he was far from boring!

At the entrance to the villa, Aaron, who was about to pick up Nora from the lab, witnessed the scene from afar. His eyes narrowed, and his face hardened.

Initially, he wasn't concerned, but his familiarity with Nora allowed him to instantly recognize the woman in the car.

From his viewpoint, Nora and Gary appeared to be sitting incredibly close, almost as if they were sharing a kiss!

Quinn, who had accompanied him, noticed the scene as well.

"Isn't that Nora? Who's dropping her off? Are they moving so quickly? Have they already reached the kissing stage?" she asked, her eyes wide with surprise.

Before she could finish her sentence, Aaron was already marching toward the car, his face stern. He rapped on the window forcefully, causing both occupants of the car to jump in surprise.

Nora's eyes hardened as she recognized Aaron standing outside. Her heart fluttered with a mix of surprise and guilt, as if she had wronged him in some way.

However, she quickly pushed the feeling aside, reminding herself of the news she had heard. She owed no one an explanation for her friendship with Gary. If anyone should feel guilty, it was Aaron.

"Isn't that Aaron?" Gary observed, noticing Aaron and raising an eyebrow in curiosity.

Nora remained silent. "Thank you for the ride, Gary. Please unlock the door; I need to get out," she requested.

With a sly smile playing on his lips, Gary pressed the unlock button. "I think I'll say hello to him," he announced, ready to confront his love rival and assert his presence.

Impatience was beginning to gnaw at Aaron's nerves as he waited outside. He was on the brink of pounding on the door if Nora didn't make her appearance soon.

Finally, the car door swung open, revealing Nora. Aaron's lips were drawn into a tight line as he made his way towards her, his first instinct to inspect her lips. They were dry, devoid of any trace of recent kisses. She didn't have the demeanor of a woman who had succumbed to the allure of romance.

A hint of relief softened Aaron's stern expression; Nora was not the kind of woman to be easily beguiled. Perhaps he had been wrong.

However, the sight of roses clutched in her hand caused his brows to knit together again. She had accepted roses from another man! Could it be that she had fallen for the rumors about him and Sunny, and was now in search of a substitute?

"Nora..." he started, but his words were cut short.

Gary emerged from the car as well. "You're Mr. Aaron Gordon, right?"

At the sound of his voice, Aaron pivoted to face him, his gaze piercing as he sized up Gary. "I'm Aaron. And you are?"

"I'm Gary, Nora's admirer," Gary responded with a smile, offering his hand for a handshake.

Aaron's expression turned icy at the word 'admirer.' This man was well-dressed and drove a luxurious car, suggesting a background of privilege, and he had a polished, delicate appearance, the kind often referred to as a 'pretty boy.' Could it be that Nora had a preference for this type?

Aaron's lips tightened as he accepted Gary's handshake, his grip firm. "Mr. Remington, Nora's already spoken for. Consider it a courtesy not to waste your time," he declared, his tone frosty.

Gary hadn't anticipated such a blunt assertion of dominance and his expression darkened slightly. However, he wasn't prepared to back down and returned Aaron's firm handshake with a forceful grip of his own.

"You must be mistaken. Since when does Nora have an owner? She's clearly single! Don't tell me, Mr. Gordon, that you're referring to yourself," Aaron countered, his dark eyes filled with intensity.

The tension between the two men was palpable, their hands locked in a vice-like grip, the veins standing out prominently.

Gary lacked Aaron's strength and winced as Aaron's grip sent waves of pain shooting up his arm.

Struggling to maintain his composure, Gary retorted sarcastically, "Really? Mr. Gordon, I didn't know you juggled a girlfriend while messing around. You think you're a player, huh?"

Aaron's handsome face darkened further, and he tightened his grip. "This is between her and me.It's none of your business."

"How is it none of my business? A guy like you who can't be content with what he has doesn't deserve Nora," Gary managed to say, feeling as if his hand was about to break.

Despite the pain, he was determined not to show any signs of weakness.

He was resolved not to be the first to back down.

"Whether I deserve her or not isn't up to you," Aaron retorted.

"Nor is it up to you," Gary shot back.

As the two men continued their silent standoff, Quinn had somehow managed to sidle up to Nora. In a hushed whisper, she said, "Nora, not bad. Found yourself a new man so quickly?"

Nora was at a loss for words. "That's not true."

Quinn raised an eyebrow, glancing at Gary whose complexion was rapidly deteriorating, "Nora, whether it's true or not doesn't matter. If you don't intervene soon, that poor guy's hand might just give out."

Nora could clearly sense the tension brewing between the two men.

Irritated, she snapped, "Are you guys going to keep shaking hands forever? Mr. Remington, take it slow on your way back. Quinn, I'm heading inside."
