Chapter 336 Are You Up to It

The next morning, at Aaron's villa, the two brothers were getting ready to participate in a math competition. Nora had only found out the previous night that the competition was for high school students, and the participants were primarily high schoolers.

Jacob had pulled some strings to sneak the two brothers in, wanting them to get a feel for the competitive atmosphere. Since they were too young to officially compete, it was just about experiencing the event. Jacob truly believed they had an exceptional ability, far beyond average.

Seeing Jacob go to such lengths to boost the brothers, Nora felt a bit guilty. It seemed like Jacob had truly taken the three youngsters under his wing as if they were heirs to the Gordon family.

"Do you really not need me to come with you?" Aaron asked, watching Nora get dressed.

"Aren't you busy with company matters? Relax, you've got your grandpa with you, and Frederic's there too, so you don't need to worry about going," Nora replied with a smile, fixing her clothes.

That morning, Aaron had business to attend to, so it was just her and Jacob accompanying the brothers to the competition site.

"All right then, I'll try to wrap things up quickly and come to pick you up," Aaron conceded.

She replied, "Sounds good."

The two of them headed downstairs and saw Jacob already sitting in the dining room with the three kids.

"Mommy, Daddy, good morning," Samantha cheerfully greeted them with sharp eyes.

Nora smiled, feeling a bit embarrassed. After all, she and Aaron were still in the early phase of their relationship; she hadn't officially joined the Gordon family yet. But her daughter was already calling out Dad and Mommy as if they were one family.

Aaron, on the other hand, was cool as usual, pulling Nora to sit at the dining table. The breakfast spread included both Western and Eastern dishes. Jacob was fond of milk and churros, and Aaron, knowing there was a particularly famous snack shop in Lindwood City, had sent Frederic out early to bring some back.

The three kids gazed at it eagerly, looking somewhat envious. Nora rarely allowed them to eat fried foods and, during their stay at the Jacob family estate, had taken the opportunity, in her absence, to enjoy the taste of churros. They missed it.

Jacob, fully aware of their longing, gave each of them a piece of churro to satisfy their cravings. After a quick glance at Nora and seeing no objection, the young ones joyfully started eating.

"Would you like some?" Jacob offered, who always believed that shared happiness is greater than solitary joy, spoke to Nora with a chuckle.

Nora smiled, "Sure."

The fried foods were so aromatic, and she loved them too. However, to set a good example for her children, she rarely indulged in them after giving birth.

Jacob was pleased with her easy-going nature.

She was unlike those high-born ladies who were always picky and refused to eat this or that.

"Here," He said as he handed her half a stick of fried dough.

"Thank you," Nora said with gratitude.

Aaron poured her a cup of freshly ground soymilk, and got her a sandwich. Everyone at the table began to eat. Nora ate with great satisfaction.

But for some reason, after eating most of it, she felt a bit queasy in her stomach and was overcome with nausea.

"What's wrong?" Aaron saw her frowning and rubbing her chest, and he asked with concern.

"It's nothing, just a little indigestion," Nora replied.

Aaron was startled and hadn't spoken yet when Jacob, sitting at the head of the table, became excited. "Could it be that you're pregnant?" he said.

Nora was taken aback.

It shouldn't be... She had been careful. When she was with Aaron, she usually avoided her ovulation period. Even if they couldn't avoid it, she would take harmless traditional remedies to prevent pregnancy.

After all, she already had three kids and didn't want to be pregnant before marriage again. However, her period did seem to be one day late!

Nora's expression changed, and she thought about checking her pulse.

But before she could act, Jacob was already urging Aaron, "Aaron, hurry, take Nora to the hospital to get checked out!"

Aaron's expression turned very serious, "To the hospital?" Could it really be that they had a love's fruition?

"No need to head to the hospital, I'm a doctor myself." Nora quickly interjected, then proceeded to check her own pulse.

The gazes of everyone at the table, including the three little ones, were fixed on her. Their looks were so intense.

Nora felt an immense pressure and lowered her gaze from them, carefully feeling her pulse. The pulse was not one of pregnancy.

Nora breathed a sigh of relief.

"How is it? Are you pregnant?" Jacob couldn't help but ask.

Nora shook her head, "Grandpa, I'm not pregnant."

‘Not pregnant?’

Jacob's expression froze, and his brows furrowed, "There's a saying, 'a doctor should not treat themselves'. You probably didn't diagnose it properly. Aaron, you should still take Nora to the hospital for a thorough check-up."

Nora, somewhat bemused and amused, replied, "Grandpa, I really am not pregnant."

"Let's go anyway, it's better to heed grandpa's advice and get it checked out." Aaron stood up to assist her.

Nora glared at him with mock annoyance, "What are you stirring up?"

Aaron looked innocent, "It's always good to check thoroughly."

"Mommy, it's been so long, you must be pregnant by now! I'm going to be a big sister and then I can boss around my little brother!" Samantha chattered away, oblivious to the tension.

Nora was at a loss for words, and just then, a sharp pain struck her abdomen. She felt a warm flow beneath her. Instinctively, Nora clutched her abdomen.

There was no need for a hospital now.

"What's wrong? Does your stomach hurt?" Aaron asked, his face scrunched with worry.

Nora glared at him, "My period started."

Aaron was at a loss for words.

All right, there went his hopes, thoroughly dashed.

"I need to go to the bathroom, Grandpa. You guys eat slowly," Nora hurried upstairs.

Jacob watched her retreat with a look of disappointment, "She's really not pregnant?"

Aaron said, "Grandpa, we have plenty of time. It's not too late to have children after we get married."

Jacob turned to him, "Has Nora agreed to marry you?"

Aaron raised an eyebrow, "We're living together already, who else would she marry if not me?"

Jacob's gaze turned contemplative, "Living together and yet she isn't pregnant after all this time; are you sure you're up to the task?"

Aaron was caught off guard and thought, ‘Geez, Grandpa, could you not undercut my dignity in front of the kids?’

Upstairs in the bathroom, “Aunt Flo” had indeed made her arrival. Nora breathed a sigh of relief after a quick cleanup and stepped out.

Aaron was waiting for her by the door, asked, "Does your stomach still hurt?"

Nora touched her abdomen, "It's better now."

It was probably because her period was due, which was why she had felt unwell earlier.

"Why don't you stay home from Alex and Billy's competition today? Let Grandpa and Frederic go instead, and you rest at home," suggested Aaron.

"It's fine, I'm not that fragile; let's hurry up," said Nora, brushing off the concern.

Aaron followed her, "I asked the kitchen to make some ginger tea for you, slowly sip it later."

Such a considerate man. Nora felt warmth in her heart, "Okay."

They headed downstairs again, and Nora, seeing Jacob glancing over, gave him an awkward smile.

The three little ones had finished their breakfast and came up to her.

"Mommy, are you still feeling bad?"

"Mommy, do you want some water?"

The two boys were full of concern.

Nora smiled, "I'm fine, don't worry."

Samantha blinked her big eyes, "Mommy, are you really not having a baby?"

"No," Nora replied.

Samantha looked disappointed and blurted out, "Aw, Daddy can't do it!"

Nora was speechless.

Some people are quite capable, in principle!

It's just that she wouldn't let him show it!
