Chapter 159 Let Sunny Stop the Bleeding

"Something's gone terribly wrong. There's been an accident," Edric announced, rising abruptly, his countenance etched with worry.

"We need to get down there, now," Jack responded.

Nora and Jenny, in silent agreement, nodded, and the quartet hastened downstairs.

Upon reaching the ground floor, they found a crowd had already congregated, murmuring in hushed whispers and craning their necks to catch a glimpse of the unfolding drama.

Mall security, alerted to the situation, arrived swiftly, collaborating to heave a toppled billboard off the unfortunate victims it had struck. Some were injured in the arm, others in the leg, while a few were entirely trapped beneath the heavy sign. The billboard, constructed of plexiglass, was both large and weighty—dangerous enough to be lethal.

The air was filled with cries and screams. Victims cradled their heads or clutched their arms, blood seeping onto the floor. One individual, pinned under the billboard, was drenched in blood and had already succumbed to unconsciousness.

"Someone call 911 now!" a voice from the crowd shouted.

A director, who had been filming nearby, rushed through the crowd, his face blanching at the sight of the unconscious girl. "Is there a doctor here? Someone, please help her!"

The onlookers exchanged glances, but no one stepped forward.

"Make way, please, let us through!" Edric and his friends pushed their way to the center of the scene.

Jack, catching sight of the director, expressed his surprise. "Sue?"

Recognizing him, Sue implored, "Dr. Parker, you're here just in time. Please help her. She might not make it until the ambulance arrives."

Jack nodded, crouching to check the unconscious woman's breath, then examining her for injuries. "She's still breathing, but she's got a deep cut on her leg artery and is losing a lot of blood. She needs immediate attention, but I don't have my medical kit with me." He was merely out for dinner and hadn't anticipated needing his medical supplies.

Nora, sensing the urgency, interjected, "I have an emergency kit."

"Alright, Nora, you’re up," Jack said, making room for her.

As Nora reached for her bag to retrieve the kit, Jenny halted her. "Sunny, you're the top-notch artist known for your intelligence. Your medical skills must be exceptional. Get over here and stop the bleeding!"

Sunny, who had approached out of curiosity, froze, taken aback by the sudden call to action. Among the crowd were her fans, now cheering her on.

"Yes, Sunny, it's time to demonstrate your scholarly prowess!"

"Sunny, some still question your intellectual persona. Prove them wrong!"

"Sunny, let your talents shine!"

Her fans watched with eager anticipation. Sunny's face displayed a hint of discomfort as she glanced at the woman lying bloodied on the ground, a flicker of panic crossing her eyes.

"Seriously, why did she even come out here to check out the commotion? What does she think she can do to stop the bleeding? How on earth would she even go about it?"

"Sorry, I genuinely want to help this girl stop bleeding, but I didn't bring any tools, okay?" Sunny said, attempting to maintain her composure while her face was filled with regret.

Jenny handed Nora's first aid kit to her. "Here's the kit. Don't tell me you're going to be picky now, Sunny. You can't seriously expect us to believe that you can only use your 'special' needles, right?"

Sunny's face darkened. She couldn't help but think, 'Where did this woman come from? It's like she's intentionally opposing me.'

Her gaze swept past Nora, and in that instant, she understood. 'Clearly, she's Nora's friend. They're waiting for me to mess up!'

"Sunny, why aren't you taking it? Come on, a life is hanging in the balance here!" Jenny tilted her head and smiled, but her eyes were cold.

"Yeah, Sunny, why aren't you doing anything? Don't you know how?"

"Scholarly superstar? More like a total fake, just hyping herself up."

"Sunny, you're deceiving the public!"

At this point, Sunny's fans started to get noisy. "Stop talking nonsense, Sunny's genuinely intelligent."

"Yeah, how dare you all slander her like that! It's just too much!"

Sunny's fans began to voice their protests, noticing the tension escalating into a potential altercation.

"Enough!" Sue chided the arguing fans before addressing Sunny directly, "Sunny, can you do this or not? If you can't, step aside and let someone capable do it!"

Sunny put on a brave face, nodded, and reassured Sue, "I've got this."

'I just need to stop some bleeding. I've treated Aaron's leg problems before, so this should be manageable.'

She took a deep breath, recalling her medical training, then knelt down, located the right spot, and inserted the needles.

As the two silver needles penetrated, the unconscious girl's eyes moved, and then she cried out in pain.

"She's awake, she's awake!"

The onlookers cheered in amazement, clapping their hands at the scene.

"Wow, Sunny really lives up to her reputation as an intellectual performer. She's amazing!"

"Let's see who dares slander Sunny after this!"

A few fans chattered excitedly.

Sunny breathed a sigh of relief, feeling a touch of pride. 'Stopping the bleeding was no big deal, right?'

Her triumph, however, was short-lived. Within five seconds, the girl on the ground suddenly coughed up blood and, flipping her eyelids back, started bleeding from the mouth and passed out once more.

The surrounding crowd stood in stunned silence, shocked by the turn of events.

"What's happening? She's bleeding from the mouth. Is she dead?"

"Oh no, is Sunny really the genius she claims to be?"

"Can you do this or not? Please, save her!"
Spectators were chattering with animated expressions all around.

Sunny's face turned pale as her eyes brimmed with panic. "How could there be bleeding? Did I hit the wrong spot?

"I was too nervous earlier. I might have hit the wrong spot. Let me think," she muttered under her breath.

"If that wasn't the right spot, then where should I have placed the needle?"

"Step aside."

With a cool expression, Nora swiftly pulled Sunny away. She then promptly removed the needles from the girl's body and carefully adjusted them to the correct points.

She inserted six needles with precision, causing the girl's eyelids to flutter with each one.

Once the needles were all in place, the girl's bleeding stopped, and her breathing stabilized.

"She'll be fine for now. We've saved her life," Nora declared, wiping the sweat from her brow.

The onlookers, who had been holding their breath, now clapped and cheered as Nora stood up, their brows unfurled with relief.

"You see, that's a real doctor! Did you see her technique?" one bystander exclaimed.

"Celebrity scholar-athlete Sunny? Must be a joke!" mocked another.

"She even wrote an article on acupuncture. Some say it's plagiarized. Looks like they might be right!"
