Chapter 900 We Would Definitely Dig Him Out

"Dad, Aunt Collins, Hubert, Lloyd... we're back," Zephyr said, greeting everyone.

"Hey, Zephyr's back! And who's this lovely lady?" Lloyd's eyes lit up when he saw Jane. He was the first to speak. Looking decent but a bit thin, his demeanor screamed playboy.

"Lloyd, let me introduce you. This is my girlfriend, Jane. Jane, this is Lloyd, and next to him is his wife, Savannah," Zephyr said.

"Hello, Lloyd. Hello, Savannah," Jane said gracefully.

Savannah Bennett, petite and fashionably dressed, gave Jane a once-over, a hint of disdain in her eyes. "Jane, so you're a cop?"

Jane smiled slightly and nodded.

Leonard's face was stern. "Zephyr, I asked you to come back for dinner, not to bring unrelated people."

"Dad, Jane is not unrelated. She's my girlfriend, my future wife," Zephyr replied.

Leonard slapped the sofa angrily. "Future wife? She almost got you killed! She should be grateful that I'm not targeting her. And now you want to marry her? Are you out of your mind?"

Zephyr's lips pressed together, muscles tensing. The person who almost got him killed wasn't Jane. He wanted to say something, but Jane's hand warmed his, silently comforting him.

Then Jane spoke, "Leonard, you can't pin such a big crime on me. I can't bear it."

Leonard gave her a cold look. "I didn't say it wrong. It was because of you that Zephyr was kidnapped."

Jane smiled slightly. "Leonard, the criminal has been caught and confessed to kidnapping Zephyr, but he didn't reveal the mastermind. Why don't you think of a way to make him spill the truth?"

Leonard was stunned. "Is there a mastermind?"

"Yes," Jane continued. "The person who kidnapped Zephyr is codenamed Matteo, a wanted criminal in Chrisland. If no one in Chrisland was covering for him, do you think he could have successfully kidnapped Zephyr and taken him out of the country?"

Leonard squinted, deep in thought. His gaze instinctively swept over Hubert, and his face darkened.

Hubert, who had been silent, appeared calm but was actually very nervous inside. 'That useless Matteo didn't manage to deal with Jane and Zephyr! I paved the way so well for him, but it all fell apart in the end! And now he's in prison. What an idiot. And now it seems Jane has guessed something. She even makes Leonard suspicious of me.'

Hubert's heart tightened, and he coldly scolded, "If there really was a mastermind, wouldn't the police have announced it? Ms. Harvey, stop making excuses to try to convince my dad to let Zephyr marry you. As a cop, you would only bring trouble to the Wright family and be of no use at all."

Hubert deliberately diverted Leonard's attention, using Jane's profession against her. Sure enough, Leonard's attention shifted, and he looked at Jane with an even more displeased expression.

Jane smiled slightly. "Hubert, whether there's a mastermind will be revealed in time. To show my commitment to Zephyr, I've already resigned. From now on, I'm fully supporting Zephyr in his career."

Leonard looked stunned. "You really resigned?"

"Yes," Jane confirmed, holding Zephyr's hand and looking apologetic. "When Zephyr was kidnapped by Matteo, he took two bullets for me, injuring the nerves in his hand. He can never perform surgery again. I'm deeply moved by his sacrifice, and the only way I can express my love for him is by marrying him."

Jane looked deeply at Zephyr, her eyes full of tenderness. Zephyr couldn't tell if Jane was acting or genuinely expressing her feelings. He just played along, holding her hand tightly, his gaze also full of affection.

Everyone in the room watched this scene unfold. Leonard was the first to react. "What did you say? Zephyr can never perform surgery again?"

Zephyr glanced at his hand, a flash of pain in his eyes. "Yes, the bullet damaged my nerves, and I can no longer perform long surgeries."

Zephyr's gaze swept over Hubert, a hint of coldness in his eyes. "It was that jerk behind the scene who ruined my career, and I will find him and make him pay!"

Hearing this, Hubert's eyes flickered, and he sneered inwardly. 'As if Zephyr, this useless person, could find me. I dare him to try.'

"Zephyr, don't let Ms. Harvey fool you. You got hurt because of her. Don't be deceived by her," Hubert said.

"Thanks for the reminder, Hubert, but I'm an adult and I know what I'm doing," Zephyr replied calmly. He then looked at Leonard. "Dad, now that I can no longer be a doctor, I need a job to support my family and give Jane a good life. So I agree to your previous suggestion to help Hubert in the company."

Leonard's face, which had been gloomy, brightened up. "Are you serious? You really want to help in the company?"

"Yes." Zephyr nodded. "I've thought it through. No matter what, I am a Wright, and I can't just shut myself off and ignore everything."

Leonard smiled. "Good, Zephyr, it's good that you think this way."

"Dad, I'll report to the company tomorrow?" Zephyr seized the opportunity.

Everyone in the room, except Leonard and Jane, was unsettled. Patricia was the first to object. "I don't agree. What right does an illegitimate child have to work in the Wright Group?"

Leonard frowned. "He is a Wright, with my blood in his veins. There's no problem with him working in the Wright Group."

Patricia was furious. "Leonard, you can't do this to me. I have made a concession by agreeing to recognize him as a Wright. Now you want him in the family business. Do you plan to leave the company to an illegitimate child in the future?"

Leonard's brows furrowed even tighter. "Don't think so far ahead. I'm just letting Zephyr gain some experience in the company."

Patricia was angry. "I said I don't agree!"

Leonard's face darkened. "I am the chairman of the company, and I think I can make decisions about personnel changes."
