Chapter 807 It Was Really Time to Let Go
"Yes."
Watching Otis clench his tiny fists and suck hard, Sandy's eyes were full of tenderness.
Kenneth sighed in relief, "That's good."
Emma, standing nearby, said, "But my grandson is quite big. I wonder if Sandy's breast milk will be enough for him."
"No worries. If it's not enough, we can supplement it with formula," Kenneth replied.
Emma nodded, noticing Kenneth's exhausted face. She said, "Ken, you must be exhausted after staying up all night. Go get some rest. I'll take care of things here. I'll have Diana Diaz come over to help later."
Diana had been the family's old housekeeper, working for the Hamilton family since she was young.
She had taken care of previous childbirths, so she was very experienced.
"It's okay; I'll stay with Sandy a bit longer," Kenneth said.
He had read many books and knew that postpartum depression was common among new mothers.
Kenneth was worried that if he left, Sandy might feel neglected, leading to an imbalance in her emotions and, eventually, postpartum depression.
So even though he was very tired, he didn't dare to leave.
"Ken, I'm fine. Go get some rest. Don't worry, I'm mentally healthy." Sandy, being perceptive, noticed Kenneth's concern and gave him a gentle smile.
Emma glanced at Kenneth, pretending to be displeased. "Are you afraid that I'll be a wicked mother-in-law and neglect my daughter-in-law now that I have a grandson? Ken, don't you trust me?"
Kenneth laughed. "Of course not. Thanks, Mom. I'll go handle my business."
Emma rolled her eyes at him. "Don't handle any business. Go get some rest. Only by resting well can you take better care of your wife."
That made sense.
Kenneth smiled and nodded. Then he gently patted Sandy's head and said softly, "I'll come back later."
Sandy replied, "Get some good rest. If you're too tired, you don't have to come."
Kenneth smiled. "I'm a new dad; I'm too excited to be tired."
He then looked at Otis, who was still nursing vigorously." Otis, eat well and then sleep quietly. Don't bother your mom, got it? Or I'll spank you!"
Otis, with his eyes closed and tiny fists clenched, continued nursing, completely ignoring Kenneth.
Sandy smiled softly, her heart melting.
"Go on, get some rest," Emma said.
"Alright, Mom, I'm leaving."
Kenneth left the hospital room and saw Ebenezer and Xavie coming from the smoking area.
"Dad, everything's fine here. You can go home, too."
Ebenezer and Xavie exchanged a glance. As, Sandy's father, Xavie felt it was indeed inappropriate for him to be overly involved in the process of her labor. So, they left with Kenneth.
They took the elevator down to the first floor and ran into someone.
Zephyr was carrying a thermos cup, walking towards the elevator.
Kenneth glanced at him, nodded slightly, and continued walking with Ebenezer and Xavie.
Zephyr paused, watching their backs thoughtfully.
'Why were Kenneth and Ebenezer at the hospital so early in the morning?'
'Who is sick?'
A thought flashed through Zephyr's mind. He calculated the days; Sandy's due date should be around now.
'Could it be that Sandy has already given birth?'
At that moment, Zephyr felt a mix of emotions.
He was happy for Sandy but also felt a sense of loss.
Kenneth and Sandy had even had a child. Sandy was drifting further and further away from him.
He really needed to let go!
Zephyr sighed, took the elevator to the twelfth floor, and went to the cardiology department.
Leonard had a sudden heart attack last night. Fortunately, he was treated in time and was now fine.
Zephyr knocked on the hospital room door and entered.
Inside were his stepmother, Patricia Collins, and his half-brother, Hubert Wright.
"Dad, Aunt Patricia, Hubert."
Zephyr greeted everyone and placed the thermos cup on the table.
"I told you to bring food earlier. Your dad is hungry," Patricia, dressed in luxurious attire, glanced at Zephyr and complained coldly.
Remaining calm, Zephyr didn't say anything.
After being acknowledged by the Wright family for so long, he was used to their nitpicking.
"Mom, don't complain. It's considerate of Zephyr to personally make soup for Dad," Hubert, with his square face, looked righteous but spoke with a hint of disdain.
"Zephyr, don't blame my mom for bossing you around. We're all busy, and you're the only one with some free time. Dad is getting old, and you haven't been taking care of him.You won't mind putting in some effort to tend to him, would you?"
Hubert's words were full of both praise and criticism.
Zephyr smiled faintly. "I'm not that petty. Dad, do you want some soup now?"
Leonard knew that having Zephyr make soup for him was Patricia's way of making things difficult for Zephyr.
After all, the Wright family didn't lack servants, and such chores shouldn't fall to Zephyr.
But since Patricia had made up her mind, Leonard decided to let her have her way.
After all, he had wronged Patricia by having Zephyr.
"Alright, I'll have some," Leonard replied.
Zephyr poured some soup and handed it to him.
Leonard took a sip and said, "Zephyr, I heard you're collaborating with someone to set up a lab?"
Zephyr didn't deny it and nodded.
Leonard frowned, displeased. "Why are you setting up a lab? The Wright family has such a big business. Can't you join the company and help your brothers?"
Hubert, hearing this, shifted his position, a cold glint in his eyes.
But he said, "Exactly. What can a small lab achieve? Zephyr, the Wright family's overseas business, is expanding. I think you should come back to the company and help me develop our overseas enterprises."
This was an attempt to send Zephyr abroad.
This way, Zephyr would become a marginal figure in the family, posing no threat to the Wright family's future inheritance.
Zephyr understood this clearly, a hint of mockery in his eyes.
"Hubert, I'm not interested in managing the company. I'd rather focus on my lab."
Hubert glanced at Zephyr, a satisfied smirk on his lips.
Leonard, however, frowned, "Zephyr, our business includes pharmaceutical companies. You could take over one of those."
Leonard really didn't understand.
How could his son Zephyr be so weak?
Since being acknowledged by the Wright family, Zephyr had never fought for anything, letting others bully him.
Zephyr really lacked any manly spirit.
In the future, if Leonard fully relinquished control, whether it was Hubert or Lloyd Wright in charge, Zephyr would be oppressed by them.
"No, I have things to do now. Hubert and Lloyd can handle the Wright family's business," Zephyr said calmly.
Zephyr didn't like power struggles or the deceitful life of the business world.
He didn't expect to gain anything from the Wright family.
Therefore, he was content to be a dedicated medical professional.
