Chapter 79 A Henpecked Husband
"Go straight home after work; Noe'll pick up the kids," Aaron added.
Nora felt touched. "Isn't that too much trouble for Mr. Wilson?"
"It's fine; he's got nothing else to do," Aaron dismissed.
Noe remained silent.
He didn't want to be idle; he would rather be swamped with countless tasks!
"Thank you!" Nora felt that beyond expressing her gratitude but didn't know what else to say.
Aaron, shifting the direction of the conversation, asked, "Since you're thanking me, can I drop by the office this afternoon?"
He wanted to visit the office.
Nora's pretty face grew serious. "Why do you need to go to the office? You shouldn't strain yourself."
"I've got some company matters to handle personally. Don't worry, I won't be walking around much, and I'll head straight back as soon as I'm done," Aaron assured her.
Listening to his words, Nora's eyes seemed to dance with contemplation.
First, he tugged at her heartstrings.
Then, he put forward his request, making it hard for her to refuse.
He really was a devious man!
"Okay. But tonight, I'm going to intensify the acupuncture treatment, so no complaining about the pain," Nora warned him.
"Deal," Aaron replied, satisfied with the outcome, and hung up the phone.
Noe, standing nearby, was stunned.
The CEO, was usually doing as he pleased.
And now, he was asking for Nora's permission to go to work?
Had he turned into a henpecked husband?
Feeling a shiver, Noe quickly dismissed this bizarre thought.
At the hospital, Nora, holding a takeout bag in her hand, was in a good mood as she headed to the cafeteria.
She bumped into Jack.
"Jack, what brings you here?"
Jack smiled warmly. "Nora, I've found the house you wanted, so let's have lunch together and check it out during the break."
Nora smiled warmly. "Thanks, Jack. Let's go; I was just about to head to the cafeteria."
Jack followed, his eyes landing on the takeout box in her hand.
"Did you order takeout?"
"No, it was Thomas—oh, I mean Aaron—who had it sent over."
Nora, who was used to calling him Thomas, chuckled as she clarified.
Jack's smile faltered for a moment as he glanced at Nora.
"Nora, how's Aaron's leg injury?"
Nora replied, "He's feeling better but full recovery's a ways off."
Jack's eyes subtly shifted, "And if you move, is he still planning on living with you and the kids?"
Nora hadn't considered this yet.
After a brief pause, she said, "I'll ask when it's time."
Jack simply nodded, and they continued toward the cafeteria.
Walking alongside her, he noticed many of the hospital staff casting curious glances their way.
Jack felt puzzled. "Nora, do you feel like their looks are a bit strange?"
Nora was unfazed. "Don't worry about it."
She was innocent, regardless of what others might think.
They found a place to sit down and started their meal.
Jack had gone to pick up some takeout, and by the time he returned, Nora had already opened the to-go box.
The sight of the exquisite food inside instantly whetted her appetite.
Jack, balancing the containers of food, took a seat across from Nora.
Seeing her savor each bite, he asked casually, "How did Aaron think to deliver food to you? This isn't your typical takeout, is it?"
"He was helping Lucas and me discuss our divorce, and just brought some takeout along," Nora replied nonchalantly.
Jack paused mid-bite, glancing at Nora with his mind seemingly elsewhere.
It seemed like Aaron had taken quite an interest in Nora.
Could it be that he had feelings for her?
"Jack, you haven't told me yet, where's the house you found for me?" Nora looked up and inquired.
Snapping back to the moment, Jack responded, "It's in the villa community of Star River Bay in the southern suburbs. The house is fully furnished, so it's in the ballpark of around a hundred million. It's a bit pricey, but the security system is good."
A hundred million!
Nora was taken aback at the figure.
But considering safety, she nodded in agreement.
She could earn money in the future, but her children's safety was paramount.
After finishing the meal, Jack took Nora to Star River Bay.
The real estate agent had been waiting for them for a while.
"Dr. Parker, you've arrived."
Jack nodded to the agent and guided Nora inside.
As they strolled through the villa community, a serene vibe washed over them.
Nora was very pleased with the surroundings as they walked through.
The agent led them into one of the villas.
It was a spacious three-story structure, classy but not too flashy.. Clearly, the previous owner had excellent taste.
Both the front and back of the villa featured courtyards, lush with a variety of flowers, plants, and trees.
Breathing in the floral scent in the air, Nora felt her spirits lift.
"Nora, what do you think of this place?" Jack asked.
She nodded, "I like it. Let's go for it."
The previous owner's decor was tasteful. She would only need to add a bit of furniture to make it move-in ready.
"Then let's get the paperwork started," Jack suggested.
The happiest among them was the real estate agent, anticipating a handsome commission from the sale.
Nora had no objections and signed the intent-to-purchase agreement with the agent.
Meanwhile, not far away, in another villa, Suzy received news that Aaron had gone to the Gordon Group. She grabbed a plastic bag containing several strands of hair and decided it was time to visit the company.
As she was leaving, she spotted Jack and Nora standing together, shaking hands with the agent.
Jack gently supported Nora's waist, cautioning her to watch her step.
What was going on here?
Were they here to check out the house?
Their closeness gave off a vibe as if they were a couple inspecting a new house, prepping for marriage.
Suzy's eyes twinkled, and a cryptic smile curled the corners of her lips.
The president's office at Gordon Group.
Aaron was buried in paperwork.
Noe pushed the door open. "Mr. Gordon, George has arrived."
George was here already?
Aaron barely looked up as George strode in, his face brimming with smiles.
"Mr. Gordon, I've heard you've revoked my eligibility for the dean's position. Would you mind explaining?" asked George.
Aaron continued his work, his voice neutral. "George, you did one thing wrong—you didn't raise your children well."
George faltered slightly, anxious. "Mr. Gordon, could you please be more specific?"
Aaron looked up. "To advance in your career, you need to keep your family's behavior in check. Ask your precious daughter if she's behind the hospital gossipl."
It was clear from his tone that it was indeed the case.
George quickly accessed the hospital's official website and found the news article.
His heart skipped a beat when he saw Noe was involved in the scandal.
"Mr. Gordon, are you saying my wretched daughter has slandered the female doctor in the news?"
Aaron's voice was cool and detached. "George, that female doctor is treating my leg injury, and I know her character very well. It was her husband who wronged her, and they are already divorced. According to your daughter's claims, should I be implicated too?"
