Chapter 498 How Did You Meet?
Nora went to the hospital, and Emma had already finished her brain CT scan.
Ebenezer had just arrived home when he found out that Emma had woken up. He quickly changed his clothes and rushed back to the hospital with Howard.
Nora looked at the diagnosis report, which stated that Emma had suffered a brain injury, causing temporary memory loss. They would only know which part of her memory she had lost once she woke up.
"Other than the amnesia, no other issues have been detected for now," Nora said.
She handed the diagnosis report back to Ebenezer, who nodded and was told, "She's lucky to have only lost a part of her memory. As long as she's alive, that's what matters."
"Howard asked tentatively, "Nora, can you help my mom regain her memory with your methods?"
Nora thought for a while and replied, "I can try. However, she is currently very weak and should not undergo any other treatments for now. Besides, her primary focus should be on leukemia treatment. If you want her to regain her memory, we can try again after her leukemia is cured."
Hearing this, their expressions turned serious. Indeed, their main priority now was to cure Emma's leukemia. What use would her memory be if her leukemia couldn't be treated?
"Have you all had your blood tests done?" Ebenezer asked Kenneth and Howard.
"Yes," they nodded and replied.
"How long will it take for the results?" Ebenezer inquired.
"At least three days," Howard replied.
They fell silent, each pondering the same question, 'What if our blood types don't match?'
They dared not think any further.
"All right, you've all had a long day. Rest early. I'll stay here with your mom tonight," Ebenezer said.
Howard looked at Ebenezer's tired face and insisted, "Dad, I'm young. Let me stay and accompany Mom tonight. You and Kenneth should go back and rest early."
Ebenezer was getting old and couldn't stay up late. Kenneth also needed to take care of Sandy so he couldn't stay at the hospital either.
As for Nora, since Emma wasn't her mother, Howard couldn't let her stay and take care of Emma.
So, he was the most suitable person to stay at the hospital.
Seeing him say this, Ebenezer felt relieved and suggested, "All right, if anything comes up, give me a call."
"Okay," Howard agreed.
Nora left the ward with them and took the opportunity to check on Sandy, who was a bit weak, but fortunately, it wasn't serious.
"Sandy, you need to rest well recently. Don't think too much, and don't overwork yourself," Nora advised.
Sandy understood what Nora meant. Nora was telling her not to mind what others said about her being a jinx. She gently touched her abdomen and looked at Ebenezer and Kenneth, who were walking side by side ahead.
"Nora, I'm lucky that they didn't reject me," Sandy said.
She thought Ebenezer would mind her being called a jinx, but he didn't say anything. Sandy felt grateful to him, but when she thought of Emma, she became a little worried.
Unlike Ebenezer, Emma was often critical of her. Now that Emma knew her true identity, Sandy didn't know how Emma would react when she woke up. Perhaps Emma would ask her to divorce Kenneth.
"Because you've always been a good woman; of course, they wouldn't reject you," Nora replied.
Sandy snapped out of her thoughts and smiled gently. She wasn't a good woman; she was just lucky to have married a good man. As long as Kenneth didn't reject her, she would never leave the Hamilton family.
After leaving the hospital, Nora took Frederick's car back home.
In the villa, the four children were playing upstairs while Aaron was sitting on the sofa on the first floor, working and waiting for Nora to return.
"I'm back," Nora said as she entered the villa and removed her shoes.
Aaron closed his laptop and waited for her to come into the living room.
Not hearing the children's voices, Nora asked, "Where are the kids?"
"They're playing upstairs," Aaron replied.
"Oh, I'll go change first," Nora said, preparing to go upstairs.
"Come and sit here," Aaron patted the spot next to him.
Nora hesitated for a while, then walked over.
"What's wrong? Do you have something to tell me?" Nora asked.
Aaron didn't say anything but reached out his arms and pulled her onto his lap.
His leg muscles were strong, and Nora's face turned flushed. She squirmed uncomfortably and asked, "What do you want to say? Don't hold me like this."
She was afraid that the children might come downstairs, and it would not be very pleasant if they saw them in this situation.
Aaron could smell the fragrance on Nora's body, and Adam's apple moved slightly. He ordered, "Don't move."
His voice was hoarse, and Nora could see the desire in his eyes. So, she dared not move again, afraid that he would be affectionate with her regardless of the situation.
"What is it that you want to tell me? Please, say it quickly," Nora urged.
Aaron played with her hand and said in a hoarse voice, "Nora, I think you should know what I want to say."
Nora calmed her heartbeat and looked at his handsome face, recalling what had happened.
"Are you asking me about Matthew?" she asked.
"Yes. Who is he, and how did you two meet?" Aaron inquired.
As expected, that was what he wanted to talk about.
Nora looked at him, a smile on her face, replying, "Don't you know how I met Matthew? Frederick must have told you."
He rushed back from Houston to Lindwood City and appeared while she was having dinner with Matthew. It must have been because Frederick informed him about the situation.
Aaron stared at her, inquiring, "Are you saying that you and Matthew just met recently?"
"Yes," Nora nodded and agreed.
Matthew wanted to pursue her right after meeting her.
Aaron stared and asked, "Was it love at first sight for him?"
Nora chuckled and remarked, "What? Aaron, you're overestimating my charm!"
Did he think that every man would be attracted to her? She didn't believe she had that much charm.
Aaron looked at her beautiful face and thought, 'You are indeed charming! Everyone would be attracted to you. You have no idea how lovable you are!'
Nora divulged, "In fact, Matthew has a terminal illness and probably only has two or three months left to live."
Nora sighed as she thought about Matthew's condition.
Aaron was stunned and repeated to her, saying, "He's dying?"
"Yes, it's such a pity that he, who is so handsome, has to die," Nora lamented.
She was praising Matthew's looks again!
Aaron looked displeased, pinched her chin, and made her look at him, asking, "Is he really that handsome?"
Nora nodded in agreement. "Yes, he is indeed very handsome," she replied.
Aaron frowned, even more displeased.
Nora smiled and quickly tried to please Aaron, "Of course, in my eyes, no matter how handsome others are, they can't compare to you."
She didn't want to cause trouble for herself, and she was afraid that Aaron would keep dwelling on this issue because of her words, so she preferred to say something to flatter him.
Aaron did look a little happier. He temporarily put aside the issue of looks because he was puzzled by Matthew's illness.
"What exactly is Matthew's illness, and why can't you cure him?" Aaron asked.
Nora replied, "Although I have the title of Master Healer, I am just a doctor after all. I can't cure every disease."
Thinking about Matthew's condition, she furrowed her brow slightly.
Nora continued, "Matthew seems to have been poisoned chronically. If he had met me earlier, perhaps I could have saved his life. Unfortunately, he met me too late. With my current medical skills, I'm afraid I can only prolong his life but not save it unless…"
