Chapter 1097 Teach Him a Lesson

Samantha couldn't wrap her head around why her family thought Alfred was better than Wesley. She blurted out, "What's so special about him? Isn't it just your biased opinions?"

Ryan shot back, "Really? Let me ask you this: if Alfred was the one being accused of mooching off a woman, would he throw a fit because his ego got bruised?"

Samantha bit her lip and stayed quiet, unsure of what to say.

Ryan continued, "He wouldn't. As long as you're happy, he doesn't care about being wronged. But Wesley? Not only did he get into a fight, but he also just stood there when people were trash-talking you. I seriously don't get why you like him."

Scenes from outside the police station flashed in Samantha's mind. When fans were hurling insults at her, Wesley didn't even look her way, let alone stand up for her.

Samantha felt a sharp pain in her heart. But she still made excuses for Wesley, "You can't blame him for that. He's proud. If someone accuses him of relying on a woman, of course, he won't take it."

Ryan laughed. "So you're saying Alfred has no pride?"

Samantha was at a loss for words and stayed silent.

Ryan went on, "Any guy with a spine has pride, okay? But this pride, when it comes to the woman he loves, he can set it aside. That's a real man! Get it?"

Samantha agreed with Ryan, but she still didn't want to badmouth Wesley, "Alfred is not Wesley. You can't compare the two. If Alfred were a public figure and got belittled in person, he might get even more furious."

Ryan always knew Samantha was stubborn. Once she set her mind on someone, no one could change it.

Ryan shook his head and said, "Samantha, is that how you see Alfred? Then he's quite pitiful, liking a girl who doesn't get him at all."

Samantha felt guilty at Ryan's words. "Ryan, don't talk nonsense. I didn't say Alfred is definitely like that. It's all just speculation, right?"

Her voice grew softer, and Ryan laughed. He was just trying to provoke her. "Samantha, let's not talk about pride. Let's talk about something practical."

Ryan continued to break down today's events, "Look at how the news has spread. Has Wesley come forward to publicly acknowledge your relationship? No, right? From this, you can see he's just an irresponsible guy!"

Samantha pouted, "Isn't that because of Alfred? He made Wesley misunderstand us again yesterday."

Ryan said, "So he's planning to end things with you? A guy who breaks up over a small misunderstanding is so immature. Yes, break up. I fully support it."

Samantha stayed silent, looking out the window, lost in thought.

Ryan had said enough and didn't say more, giving her time to calm down. At that moment, a call came in. It was from Billy.

Ryan answered the call, "Hello?"

Billy said, "Ryan, how's Samantha?"

Ryan glanced at Samantha through the rearview mirror. "Not great."

Billy scoffed, "Impressive, putting on a tragic show for someone who's nothing."

Ryan laughed. "Give her some time to calm down."

Billy responded with a cold tone, "I underestimated Wesley. How dare he make Samantha frustrated."

Ryan nodded, "Yeah, so we weren't wrong about him."

This was why they never liked Wesley from the start. Guys can read other guys like a book. Their gut told them he wasn't right for Samantha. And in just a few days, he had already made her unhappy.

"If he says Samantha chased after him, it means he doesn't want that honor, right? Fine, let's see how he does without the Gordon family's support," Billy's voice was icy and full of anger.

Ryan raised an eyebrow, knowing Billy was ready to step in for Samantha.

Wesley's current success, while partly due to his talent, wasn't solely because of it. There are tons of talented musicians out there, but not everyone gets the chance to shine.

Without Samantha's notice back then and the Gordon Group's media company pushing Wesley, he wouldn't be where he is today.

Without those opportunities, Wesley would have stayed a street singer for life. Now that he was famous, he had gotten cocky? It was time to bring him down a peg and let the world show him his place. But they weren't sure if Samantha would feel sorry for him when she found out.

Wesley got back to his place, clearly in a foul mood. He told Elijah, "Cancel today's work. I need to chill."

Right now, Wesley didn't want to do anything but calm down.

Elijah asked, "Are we still going to the school to rehearse with Samantha this afternoon?"

A hint of struggle flashed in Wesley's eyes. Honestly, he wanted to see Samantha.

After cooling off, even though he knew Alfred had stayed at Samantha's place last night, Wesley still didn't want to break up with her. He wanted to ask her who she really liked.

Seeing Wesley stay silent, Elijah felt a bit uneasy. Just as she was about to speak, her phone rang.

She pulled out her phone and saw it was Wesley's manager calling. "Cleo."

"Elijah, where's Wesley?" Cleo's tone was sharp.

"He just got home. What's up?" Elijah asked.

"What's up? Something big has happened," Cleo said, "Elijah, who told you to say in front of everyone that Samantha was pestering Wesley? Don't you know the Gordon family is Wesley's biggest backer? Now that he's distanced himself from Samantha, it's like biting the hand that feeds him. Do you think he can still make a living after pissing off his backer?"

Hearing this, Elijah's face went pale. "You mean the Gordon family is going to blacklist him?"

"Yes! Now the Gordon family has ordered all partners to stop working with Wesley. All his upcoming performances are canceled, and his album release is halted. His singing career is over!"

Elijah's expression changed. "Cleo, isn't the Gordon family abusing their power? Aren't they afraid of Wesley's fans rebelling?"

Cleo scoffed, "Elijah, how can you still be so naive? In this materialistic age, what are fans compared to backers? As long as the backers are willing, they can promote many celebrities like Wesley soon. Won't the fans' attention shift immediately then?"
