Chapter 655 The Feeling of Being Forced into Marriage
Aaron glanced at her and said, "Now it's a society of gender equality. There's no such thing as male superiority and female inferiority. I listen to my girlfriend not out of fear but out of respect and love for her."
Upon hearing this, Elara was unhappy; her eyes flashed with impatience.
She looked at Nora, saying, "Don't say things I don't understand. Since he can't drink, how about you ?"
Nora was speechless.
Drinking early in the morning, wasn't Elara afraid of stomach discomfort?
Before Nora could speak, Aaron intervened, "She's not good at drinking; let me do it."
Nora hurriedly said, "No, you have injuries; how can you drink?"
Aaron said, "That doesn't mean you should drink for me!"
Both of them were considering each other, arguing over who should drink.
Noe on the side noticed this and quickly spoke up, "Ms. Everhart, Dr. Smith is not good at drinking. And Mr. Gordon is unwell and can't drink either. So, how about I accompany you for a drink?"
Elara was originally displeased with Aaron and Nora's reluctance.
Seeing Noe stepping in, she gave him a once-over with a disdainful expression and said, "You? Really? You don't seem like a heavy drinker. Be careful not to get tipsy after just one sip"
Noe remained silent and poured a glass of wine for himself, then drank heartily from the glass.
After finishing, he placed the glass upside down on the table, almost putting his feet on the chair. He looked bold.
Seeing this, Elara raised an eyebrow, her displeased expression slightly softened.
"Quite straightforward; I like your attitude," As she spoke, she picked up her glass and drank it down.
Noe wiped his mouth, glanced at Elara, and swallowed nervously.
This liking shouldn't be romantic; Elara wouldn't be contemplating keeping him here since she had failed to get Aaron, would she?
"Seraphina, pour the wine." Elara signaled Seraphina to pour the wine.
Seraphina complied, picked up the wine jug, and poured wine for the two.
"Here, go on." Elara picked up the bowl and clinked it with Noe's.
Noe had boasted, so he had to accompany her to drink.
After three glasses, he felt a burning sensation in his stomach, and his whole body warmed up.
The aftertaste of this wine was strong!
Noe took a deep breath, feeling a bit dizzy in the head.
Seraphina glanced at him and couldn't help but offer him some food.
"Help yourself."
"Thank you."
Noe thanked her and ate a few bites to line his stomach.
Elara also took a bite of food and asked, "Is your name Noe?"
Noe replied, "Yes."
Elara looked at him and said, "There are many women here. Have you considered staying?"
Noe was eating grilled fish, and upon hearing this, the fish in his mouth sprayed out directly into Elara's glass.
Just as he feared!
He didn't want that!
Elara frowned and looked disgusted. "Just asking you to stay; why are you so agitated?"
Noe struggled to swallow and wiped his mouth, saying, "Ms. Everhart, I am Mr. Gordon's assistant. Where he goes, I go. So, I'm sorry, I can't stay!"
Meanwhile, Aaron was feeding Alex food, and upon hearing Noe's words, his hand holding the fork trembled, giving him goosebumps.
He glanced at Noe, who was winking at him.
Knowing that Noe wanted to use him as a shield, Aaron silently withdrew his gaze and remained silent.
Surprised, Elara looked around, seemingly to understand something.
She said, "So, you guys are so open-minded over there. Mr. Gordon, are you bisexual?"
This time, Nora shivered all over.
She explained, "Ms. Everhart, it's not what you think. Noe means he is a loyal subordinate, willing only to serve Aaron."
Elara glanced at Nora and scoffed lightly, "Noe, being a subordinate is boring. We have many women here. In your words, you can have your pick and live a comfortable life! Don't you want to try?"
Noe quickly said, "Thank you for your kind offer, but I'm not interested."
Elara looked at him, then at Aaron, a hint of interest in her eyes.
She said, "Interesting, you two men are really interesting."
Elara thought that men from outside were enamored with the lifestyle of being with multiple women.
But Aaron and Noe were completely different from the outsiders she had met before.
They challenged her preconceptions.
Seeing Elara's interest in Noe, Seraphina's eyes flickered slightly, and she spoke up, "Elarater, Noe said he would take me away from the Lumirians."
Upon hearing this, Elara was slightly surprised and asked, "When did he say he would take you away?"
"Last night," Seraphina replied.
Elara's smile faded slightly as she looked at Noe and asked after a moment, "Noe, do you have feelings for Seraphina?"
Noe's heart skipped a beat; he said, "No, last night Seraphina saved me, so I said that as long as she wants to leave the Lumirians, I will take her away."
Elara narrowed her eyes and added, "So, you don't have feelings for Seraphina?"
Elara's thoughts were always different from others.
"Noe, what's it about Seraphina that you don't like?" Elara's expression turned slightly displeased.
Noe was speechless again. He suddenly felt he was being forced into marriage by the woman's family.
Elara was truly unpredictable, making him hard to handle!
Noe said, "Seraphina is great, but I'm dull and boring, not worthy of her."
This statement made Aaron glance at him again, unable to help but admire Noe's quick response.
In order to escape from here, Noe would rather say that he was not good, using Aaron's previous remark as a shield.
Elara looked at Seraphina and asked, "Seraphina, do you like him?"
It seemed that if Seraphina admitted liking him, Elara would let Noe stay.
Noe's heart skipped a beat, and he couldn't help but look at Seraphina.
Noe silently prayed that she wouldn't say she liked him. Otherwise, he feared he wouldn't escape her clutches!
Seeing the anxiety in Noe's eyes, Seraphina lowered her gaze and shook her head.
She said, "No."
Elara narrowed her eyes and asked, "Then why do you want him to take you away?"
Seraphina hesitated for a moment and said, "He is loyal to his boss and a good man. If I leave the Lumirians with him, he won't deceive me and break his words."
Upon hearing her denial, Noe felt a huge sense of relief. But upon hearing her next words, he felt a bit uncomfortable.
So, Seraphina wanted to marry him because she thought he was a loyal man to Aaron.
She just thought him reliable. She was not fond of him.
"Noe, since you want to take Seraphina away, I entrust her to you. If I find out she's been mistreated outside, I won't spare you." Elara's tone became stern.
"Don't worry, I will protect her and not let anyone bully her," Noe quickly assured her.
As long as Elara didn't force him to stay and marry Seraphina, everything else was fine!
