Chapter 473 You and Your Mom Were Beautiful
Nora began treating her and tended to the wound on her forehead.
Chloe didn't move but closed her eyes quietly.
Nora sat beside her, carefully examining her.
Chloe was beautiful, and she had always been. But it's just a pity that she didn't marry a good man!
Nora wondered, 'If she regains her memory, will she divorce Arthur? I've come here twice. Besides Arthur, there are only a few servants. Does no one normally take care of her?'
Nora snapped back to reality and smiled as Chloe slowly opened her eyes. "Chloe, how do you feel?" she asked.
Chloe thought for a moment, saying, "A bit swollen."
"You should be able to handle it!" Nora remarked.
Chloe agreed, "Yes."
They fell silent afterward.
Nora suddenly found a random topic: "Are you alone at home usually?"
"There are servants." Chloe added, "But Arthur doesn't like them being here, so he has them stay in the nearby servant quarters. They only come over when cooking or cleaning."
Nora nodded, unsure of what to say.
When Chloe stared at her, Nora smiled and touched her face.
"Chloe, is there anything dirty on my face?"
Chloe smiled faintly, "Nora, you look really pretty, just like your mom when she was young."
Nora needed to learn how to respond. She probably looked like Emma. Otherwise, people wouldn't believe that she was her daughter.
Nora smiled awkwardly and changed the subject, "Chloe, you must have been a beauty when you were young."
Chloe was taken aback and slowly averted her gaze.
Looking at the ceiling, probably reminiscing, she didn't talk anymore.
When the time came, Nora helped Chloe remove the needle.
"All right, Chloe, am I coming here tomorrow to treat you, or are you going to Mrs. Woodhouse's?" Nora asked.
Chloe hesitated and said, "I'll go to Mrs. Woodhouse's."
"Okay." Nora packed up her things, and said, "Then I'll be going. Can you stay at home by yourself?"
Chloe sat up, and replied, "Don't worry about me; I'm free when I'm alone."
Nora paused with her hand, carrying the bag and studying her with curiosity.
Chloe seemed unwilling to discuss this matter any further, and she didn't ask again.
But she had a vague feeling that once Chloe recovered, she would definitely divorce Arthur.
There's an old saying that it's immoral to break up someone else's marriage. But she really wanted Chloe to divorce Arthur because he was not worthy of her!
Nora walked out of the Woodhouse Villa, ready to head back, when she received a phone call.
The voice from the call said, "Dr. Smith, Mrs. Smith Sr. fainted."
The call was from Rebecca, the servant responsible for Carter's care in Houston.
Nora was taken aback, and frantically asked, "What? Why did she faint?"
Rebecca replied, "She just received a phone call saying her son died. She probably couldn't handle the shock."
Someone must have told Carter about Charles' death.
Nora tightened her grip on her phone, and asked, "Did you take her to the hospital?"
Rebecca replied, "She has already been taken to the hospital."
"I see," Nora said. She hung up and quickly dialed Aaron's number.
"Thomas, where are you?" Nora inquired.
"I'm at the office, what's wrong?" Aaron asked.
"Carter fainted after hearing the news of Charles' death. Rebecca has taken her to the hospital. Can you go there and check on her first? I'll be rushing back soon, too," Nora said in one breath.
Aaron said, "Nora, don't worry. I'll go to the hospital right away."
He reassured Nora and offered to fly her back on his private plane.
Nora didn't object. After hanging up, she said goodbye to Jacob and then had Frederick take her to Aaron's private plane.
In the evening, she rushed back with Frederick.
Nora entered Carter's ward and saw Aaron sitting by her bed.
"Grandma," Nora called out to her.
"Nora, you're back?" Carter leaned against the headboard, looking somewhat saddened.
Nora felt a deep sympathy for her as she walked over to the bed.
Aaron moved a chair, inviting her to sit down.
For a moment, Nora didn't speak to him. First, she examined Carter.
Fortunately, she was not too heartbroken. Following the hospital's rescue efforts, she had already recovered.
"Grandma, how are you feeling now?" Nora withdrew her hand and helped her adjust the blanket.
"I'm fine. Old people can't handle the slightest shock," Carter's eyes became teary once again as she replied.
Though Nora didn't think Charles deserved any sympathy, seeing Carter in distress also pained her. At this time, Aaron, standing on the side, handed her a tissue.
Nora took it and wiped away the tears from the corner of Carter's eyes.
She assured her, "Grandma, don't be sad. We will be here with you."
Carter sighed, composed herself, and smiled lovingly at Nora.
"Nora, you are a good child. You know that we have no blood relation, yet you still consider me as your Grandmother. I am so lucky," Carter remarked.
Hearing these words, Nora pursed her lips. "Grandma, do you know?" she asked.
"Yes. You didn't tell me anything, but I often go out for walks. My friends watch the news on TV so that you couldn't keep it from me," Carter explained.
Nora said, "I didn't mean to hide it from you. I just thought there was no need to tell you. In my heart, you are my Grandmother, regardless."
Carter's eyes welled up again, and said, "You are too kind. The Smith family treated you unfairly, and my son should have died instead."
Nora quickly comforted her in a gentle voice, "Grandma, everything is in the past. Don't cry."
Carter calmed herself down. "Nora, I'm fine now. I want to be discharged from the hospital," she requested.
Nora thought, 'Well, I am a doctor anyway, and I can take care of Grandma at home.' So, she agreed to Carter's wishes.
"I'll have Noe come over to complete the discharge procedures," Aaron said. He then called Noe, who came to handle the discharge procedures; Aaron and Nora accompanied Carter out of the hospital.
They took the elevator downstairs. Carter felt guilty.
"Nora, you came back suddenly. Will it affect your work? I'm fine now. If you're busy, don't worry about me," Carter insisted.
Nora said, "It's okay. It's been a long time since I was able to be with you. I'll stay with you tonight, and tomorrow, I'll return to Lindwood City."
"Okay," Carter agreed, glancing at her, wanting to say something.
Nora was clever. She immediately knew what Carter was thinking.
