Chapter 482 Seeing the Group Photo
Nora took out her phone and exchanged contact information with Matthew.
After they were done, Nora tried to put Erin down again.
"Erin, can I put you down?" Nora asked.
This time, Erin didn't curl her legs up anymore. After being placed on the ground, she just stared at Nora with big eyes.
Nora smiled and patted her head. "Then I'll go inside first," she said.
"Dr. Hamilton, can we have dinner together tonight?" Matthew asked.
"I-" Nora hesitated for a moment.
Erin reached out with her tender white hand and grabbed the hem of her clothes.
This meant that she wanted Nora to agree.
Matthew explained, "Dr. Hamilton, don't get me wrong. I don't like owing favors to others. Inviting you to dinner is just my way of apologizing for yesterday."
After hearing that, Nora thought for a moment and nodded.
"All right then," Nora agreed.
She thought, 'Anyway, I don't have plans tonight. I'll agree for the sake of Erin being so cute.'
Frederick, who was nearby, looked at Matthew and became wary.
He seemed to sense something unusual.
He thought, 'Could this man be trying to get close to Dr. Smith by using his daughter? No, I have to let Mr. Gordon know about this situation.'
After Nora entered the lab, Matthew bent down and put Erin into the car.
"Are you happy?" he asked.
Erin nodded but still didn't speak. She began playing with the Rubik's Cube.
Matthew smiled slightly, patted her head, and then sat up straight.
He looked at the newly added name on his phone and smiled, silently repeating Nora's name in his heart.
In the lab, Nora was still thinking about the adorable Erin.
She thought, 'Why does such a cute little girl have autism? This father and daughter, one with a physical illness and the other with autism, really arouses sympathy.'
Nora decided that when they met again, she would ask about their situation and see if they needed any treatment.
Emma was waiting at home for Chloe to come and catch up.
At this moment, Emma was excited and eagerly waiting on the living room couch.
Soon, Chloe arrived.
Emma quickly got up and personally went to open the door.
"Hey, Emma," Chloe entered the room and gently called out to her sister.
Emma's eyes welled up with tears, and she involuntarily turned red-eyed.
She looked at Chloe up and down, noticing that she seemed normal and calm, so her voice trembled slightly as she spoke.
"Chloe, are you really okay? Are you really awake?" Emma asked, still having doubts.
Chloe smiled faintly and raised her hand to wipe away the tear in her sister's eye corner.
"It's thanks to Nora that I got better," Chloe answered.
Emma cried and laughed, and hastily invited, "Come in quickly, and we'll talk."
Chloe agreed, and they both went into the living room. She looked around and asked, "Emma, is there nobody home?"
"That's correct," Emma replied, "Ebenezer stayed at the Hamilton Manor last night and hasn't returned. Kenneth went to the hospital with his wife for a check-up, and Howard and Suzy are both busy."
Chloe nodded, and suggested, "Sis, let's go upstairs and talk."
They had too many private matters to discuss, and she didn't want anyone else to overhear.
Emma understood and led Chloe upstairs to her bedroom.
Meanwhile, Suzy returned after going out and coming back.
The servant opened the door and delivered her shoes for her.
Suzy put on her slippers and inadvertently glanced at Chloe's shoes.
"Who came?" Suzy asked.
"It's Ms. Woodhouse or Mrs. Hamilton's sister," the servant replied.
Suzy thought, 'Auntie Chole came? That fool? Why would she suddenly come to my house?'
Suzy was somewhat surprised, and asked, "Did she come alone?"
"Yes," the servant said.
Suzy found it strange, and wondered, 'Isn't Chloe a fool? How could she come to my mother's house alone to find me?'
But for now, she couldn't worry about that.
She came back to find some leverage against Sandy.
Her assistant checked the information about Zephyr but needed help finding something useful, as there was no connection at all between Zephyr and Cora.
And when it came to Cora, she couldn't find anything either.
It was as if Cora didn't exist in this world at all.
It was too strange. Has someone purposely erased all traces of Cora?
Of course, she didn't know that Kenneth had long ago ordered all evidence of Cora's relationship with Zephyr erased when he found out his wife wasn't the real Sandy.
But because of this, Suzy became even more suspicious that there was something hidden.
So, she decided to hire a private detective to continue investigating Zephyr and Cora, failing to believe that they couldn't find any clues.
Suzy went upstairs and secretly entered Kenneth and Sandy's room, which was decorated warmly. She searched around, hoping to find some suspicious information. Still, she only saw a photo album at the bottom of a cabinet.
She opened it and flipped through it, realizing that the photos were all of Sandy, from when she was young to now.
In every photo, Sandy was smiling brightly.
Suzy was intrigued by the photo and pulled out the one hidden beneath it. As she looked at the people in the photo, she became puzzled.
It was a picture of the Sandy sisters when they were seventeen or eighteen. They had their heads close together, doing the peace sign with their hands and smiling affectionately.
Suzy furrowed her brow and wondered, 'How could there be two Sandy who look the same?'
She examined the photo closely and realized that it wasn't manipulated. Thinking about Zephyr's gaze toward Sandy, it suddenly dawned on her. Sandy and Cora must look very similar. Otherwise, Zephyr wouldn't have insisted that Sandy was Cora.
Suzy thought, 'So, one of them in this photo is Sandy, and the other is Cora? Are Sandy and Cora twins? But I distinctly remember Sandy's father only having one daughter, which is Sandy. I haven't heard of Sandy having a twin sister. What in the world is going on? Why would their family hide this?'
Suzy felt excited as her intuition told her that Sandy must be hiding something. She put the photo back in its place and slipped the photo of the Sandy sisters into her pocket before calling a private detective.
"How is your investigation going?" she asked.
"Ms. Hamilton, it hasn't been that long for me to find out, but..." the private detective replied.
"But what?" Suzy inquired.
"I did find something," he said.
Suzy's eyes lit up. "Tell me quickly," she urged.
The private detective continued, "After you told me that you couldn't find any information on Cora, I started looking into people close to Zephyr. I managed to find a lead. One of Zephyr's friends said that he had a girlfriend named Cora before, but apparently, Cora died in a car accident."
Suzy was taken aback. "Is that so? Is there more?" she asked.
He replied, "I haven't had the chance to investigate further."
Silently, Suzy pondered for a moment before saying, "Start by looking into the Hernandez family. See if they have another daughter besides Sandy, who could be Cora."
The private detective replied, "All right."
