Chapter 82 Mr. Gordon's Jealous Again

Aaron was indeed in a sour mood, but he wouldn't admit that to the three adorable kids.
"No."
Samantha blinked her big eyes up at him, "Mr. Gordon, is Mom still mad at you? Did you take my advice and try to cheer her up?"
Aaron darkened slightly at the question but replied gently, "I did, and your mom's not mad anymore."

"Is it him who's upset now?" Aaron thought.
Reassured by his response, Samantha launched into a lively recount of her day at school.
As the car cruised along, Alex kept a close eye on Aaron, sensing something was off.

Once home and seeing Aaron occupied by Samantha and Billy, Alex discreetly approached Noe.
"Noe, what happened today? Mr. Gordon doesn't seem to be in a good mood."
Noe marveled at the kid's sharp insight.
Glancing at their CEO, he whispered, "Today, Mr. Gordon sorted out a few issues for your mom, but then she went house-hunting with that Jack in the afternoon. I think Mr. Gordon's jealous again."
So that was it!

Why would Mom be checking out houses with Mr. Parker anyway?
But that wasn't the point.
The real issue was Mr. Gordon's jealousy.
Alex's lips curled into a smile.
"What's the use of Mr. Gordon getting jealous? Mom's got a huge appeal. Without action, there's no good outcome."
His mom was the best woman in the world; it was all about who could win her heart.
He was impartial, just waiting to see how things would unfold.

Noe thought the kid was smart. Should he pass along little Alex's thoughts to the CEO?
He had initially thought about prying into his CEO's interests, but considering his role, he ultimately decided it'd be best to mind his own business.

He wasn't quite sure if the CEO had a thing for Nora.

---

The hospital had been bustling for nearly six hours before the surgery finally came to an end.
Nora let out a sigh of relief as the patient's vital signs stabilized.
"The surgery was successful, but we'll need to monitor the patient for the next 24 hours. If they wake up within that time frame, they'll be in the clear," Nora informed the medical team before stepping out of the OR.

Howard watched Nora leave, his eyes filled with a mix of admiration and complexity.
Her surgical skills were impeccable, unprecedentedly efficient - he had underestimated her.
In the locker room, watching Nora peel off her surgical gown, Howard blurted out, "Are you Dr. Sun?"
Nora paused mid-motion and replied, "No, but I've assisted her before."

Howard felt an inexplicable wave of relief.
He couldn't fathom why.
Maybe because he didn't want to admit that the doctor he'd dismissed was the renowned master healer, it would have been a blow to his ego.
Nora didn't confirm her true identity, simply to avoid complications.
Glancing at the clock, it was already past nine in the evening.
"Dr. Hamilton, if there's nothing else, I'll be taking off," she said.
A patient was awaiting her care at home.

Howard nodded, with nothing more to add.
Nora collected her belongings from her office and walked to the parking lot.
Just as she was about to start her car, she noticed a figure.
Paul? Why was he at the hospital at this hour?
Surprise flickered in her eyes.
Quickly, she took out her phone and dialed Jenny's number, concerned something had happened to her.
The call connected swiftly, Jenny's sweet voice coming through.
"Nora."

"Jenny, where are you?" Nora asked.

"Just got home, what's up?" Jenny responded with curiosity.

She was home and safe.
Then what was Paul doing at the hospital this late?
Nora's eyes narrowed slightly, "Nothing, just checking in. You're home alone?"

"Yeah, it's getting quite lonely here. Nora, why don't you come over and keep me company?" Jenny joked over the phone.
Nora inquired, "What about Paul? Shouldn't he be there with you?"

"He's on a business trip."

A business trip?
To Central Hospital?
Why lie?
Nora's thoughts raced, and an image of Kim flashed in her mind.
Could Paul be at the hospital to see Kim?
"Nora, my future mother-in-law, is coming to Houston in a couple of days to talk about the wedding plans. I'm going to be a bride soon, kind of nervous about it," Jenny admitted with a hint of shyness and sweetness in her voice.

Nora felt a slight pang in her heart.

"Jenny, are you sure you want to marry Paul? Don't you want to think it over? You know, people say men show their true colors after getting married. If things don't work out, then you're stuck," Nora cautioned.

Jenny seemed taken aback.

"Nora, why would you say that? Paul has been really good to me these past two years. I truly believe he loves me, and we'll be happy together," Jenny responded with conviction.

Nora was silent for a moment before replying, "I was just speaking my mind. No offense intended."

She had no evidence to suggest there was something wrong with Paul.

So she couldn't advise Jenny to leave him.

"Nora, I'm not upset. I know you well enough by now. Have you found out something fishy about Paul?" Jenny asked, her trust in Nora making Nora all the more determined to get to the bottom of things. She couldn't let her best friend walk blindly into an unhappy marriage.

"No, it's nothing like that. Don't jump to conclusions. You've had a long day; get some rest," Nora reassured her.

"I'll see you after I've hosted his mother, okay?" Jenny said.

"Sure."

After hanging up the phone, Nora gazed thoughtfully at the hospital building in front of her.

If there was nothing fishy going on, why would Paul lie to Jenny?

Of course, she could be reading too much into it.

Maybe Paul was just there to visit a friend.

Once home, she'd have to ask Alex for a favor.

With that thought, Nora started her car and headed home.

The serene countryside was silent, the world seemingly asleep.

Feeling a sense of peace as she entered her own driveway, Nora walked into the quiet foyer of her house, only to hear her daughter Samantha's cheerful voice coming from Aaron's room.

Was her daughter in Aaron's room again?

Nora raised an eyebrow and pushed the door open.

"I'm back!"

Inside, Aaron was sitting on the bed with a children's book in his hand.

Her daughter, wearing a cute duckling pajama set, was just about to settle down to hear a bedtime story.

Hearing Nora's voice, the little one excitedly climbed up.

"Mom, you're back!"

Nora smiled as she walked in, "Samantha, why are you bothering Mr. Gordon again?"

Samantha giggled, "I'm not bothering him! Mr. Gordon likes it when I come over to play. Right, Mr. Gordon?"
