Chapter 1005 Heart-Wrenching Pain

Ava's worry hit Alexander right where it hurt the most, reopening old wounds that still caused him unbearable pain.

He was torn. Part of him craved her concern, but another part just wanted her to leave him alone.

Through teary eyes, Alexander tried to steady himself and said, "Ava, stop caring about me. Your concern just makes everything worse. We can't go back to what we had. You're only making my pain worse."

"Alexander, I don't get it!" Ava cried out. "If my concern hurts you so much, then why did you have a kid with Madison?"

Ava's eyes were a mix of anger and sadness. She pushed through her own pain to get some answers. "Did you use Madison as a stand-in for me? Did you see in her what you once saw in me?" Her voice was filled with anger and sadness as she tried to get to the truth.

Alexander glared at her, his eyes full of pain and regret. He couldn't hold back. "Yeah, I thought Madison could fill the hole you left." His voice was heavy with pain, his face twisted in torment.

Ava's eyes filled with tears at his confession. She had expected him to deny it, but hearing the truth hurt in a way she couldn't explain.

"Do you know how angry that makes me? And I don't even know why." Ava's voice shook, her emotions spilling over.

Alexander shot back, "Why are you angry? Aren't you with William now? If you love him, why do you care who I'm with? But mark my words, from today on, you'll hate me because I'm going to destroy William. I can't stand him anymore."

Ava had almost forgotten about William when she saw Alexander's medical report by accident. "Alexander, what will it take for you to leave William alone?" she asked.

She hadn't expected to be worrying about three people in such a short time: the injured Bishop, the criminal William, and the sick Alexander. It almost felt as if William and Alexander were in her life solely to torment her.

"If he really wants to kill me, do you still want me to let him go?" Alexander asked.

"He won't," Ava shot back.

"Don't say he won't," Alexander interrupted. "If he really wanted to kill me, would you want me to let him go?"

"He doesn't want to kill you," Ava insisted. "Alexander, I'm begging you. I'll talk to William and make sure he never bothers you again. I promise. Right now, you need to focus on your health and work with the doctors."

"This has nothing to do with the tumor in my stomach," Alexander said. "William doesn't deserve forgiveness."

"What about me?" Ava asked. "Do you think I don't deserve forgiveness either? Have you been hating me for choosing William all this time? If that's the case, then go ahead and take revenge on me too!"

Her harsh words shattered Alexander's heart.

"Do you think this is revenge?" Alexander asked.
