Chapter 431 Fake It Till You Make It
"Even though it's a fake marriage, the relationship is real in name after all. After we get married, I can't go around flirting with others."
William's heart was now completely occupied by Ava. There was no room for a third person in love. It was too crowded.
Ava stared at William, a hint of suspicion flashing in her eyes.
Noticing Ava's gaze, William asked, "What's wrong? Is there something on my face?"
William focused on driving ahead, but his peripheral vision caught Ava's apparent doubt. He felt uneasy. Had she figured something out?
Ava smiled, "It's nothing. I just thought you seemed a bit..."
Ava paused, suddenly unsure how to describe William.
William was curious and asked, "A bit what?"
After thinking for a while, Ava came up with a word. "You seem guileless."
"guileless?" Surprised by this assessment, William asked, "You think I'm guileless?" It was the first time someone described him that way.
"Aren't you guileless? We're in a fake marriage; you don't need to be loyal to me. Don't worry. After we get married, I won't bother you. You can seek true love, and we can divorce anytime."
Ava married William solely to help him. There was no other meaning behind it.
William gripped the steering wheel tightly, unwilling to hear her words.
He forced a smile. "And what about you? Will you also seek true love?"
Since Ava had said that, would he meet Alexander again? William knew Ava couldn't let go of Alexander. It wouldn't be easy to move on quickly after loving him for so many years.
"No." Ava leaned back, turning to look out the window at the fleeting scenery. "I don't want to pursue true love anymore. I want to have the child and take care of him."
"Ava, weren't you planning to leave to have a child? But now we're married, you can't leave."
"Yeah," Ava said, "I had that plan, but I didn't expect to meet you. It's okay. Everything can be resolved. The most important thing now is to keep your family from knowing about my pregnancy."
"Have you thought about what would happen if they find out? Even if we're careful, unforeseen circumstances may still occur. After all, as you progress through pregnant, your belly will grow."
"Well..." Ava had yet to think that far ahead. She just wanted to help William at the time, to marry him first and help him avoid a business marriage.
"Some things always come as a surprise. We'll deal with it when the time comes. The pressing question at hand is yours now, with everything else to be addressed in due course."
Ava no longer liked planning things as beforebecause unexpected situations arose every time, disrupting all plans.
Ava envisioned a blissful life with Alexander, only to be caught off guard when he chose to part ways with her for Isabella.
She planned to leave to have a child, but then William's situation came up. So, she'll figure things out as they came.
William hesitated to express his willingness to assist in caring for her child once born, even considering the prospect of assuming a paternal role.
Nonetheless, William opted to refrain, fearing the possible shock it might induce in Ava; his impending marriage with Ava, albeit potentially contrived, seemed a favorable narrative to uphold.
