Chapter 599 Reputable Figures

For her sake, he couldn't argue with William, as it would only cause her pain.

Alexander said calmly, "That's right."

After giving this simple response, he remained silent.

William had expected Alexander to retort, but he didn't expect him to say, "That's right."

Although he didn't remember Alexander, he still felt uneasy. Alexander wasn't the type to easily agree with others, especially not with his rival.

Seeing that Alexander didn't argue with William, Ava breathed a slight sigh of relief. At least Alexander had backed down.

Isabella frowned slightly. "Alex, what's going on?" She pondered, 'William is clearly trying to provoke Alexander, but why isn't Alex getting angry? He even agrees with William. Is he crazy? Is he holding back for Ava's sake?'

Isabella was so angry she was grinding her teeth.

Ava was preoccupied during lunch. She had yet to expect to run into Alexander and Isabella, let alone have lunch with them.

After that, they didn't talk much.
After lunch, Alexander asked, "Where are you headed after lunch?"

Ava said, "William and I are going to take a walk."

"Let's go together. We..." Alexander said.

"No," Ava cut him off, "I don't like group dates."

Having lunch together was already a compromise for Ava, and she couldn't spend the whole afternoon facing Alexander!

William clasped Ava's hand. "Yes, the afternoon is our private time."

Alexander scoffed. "Are you worried I'll take her from you?"

William's eyes narrowed slightly as he said calmly, "Depends on whether you have the ability."

Seeing the atmosphere getting tense again, Ava quickly said, “You're both esteemed guys, so please, no more jokes.'"

Isabella was perplexed upon hearing that. She pondered, 'Clearly, only Alex has fame and prestige, while William is merely a waiter. What is so great about William? Ava must be trying to uphold his image. How pathetic.'

Alexander folded his arms and took a deep breath. "Alright."

He responded seriously as he always took Ava's words to heart. Then, Alexander waved to the waitress, "The bill, please."

Elinor approached with the check.

Just as Alexander was about to take it, William took it first. "I'll handle it." He signed his name and pulled out a card from his pocket.

Alexander frowned slightly, just about to say something, but Ava beat him to it. "Let William pay this time. Consider it our treat."

"That's hardly appropriate," Isabella said, "Alex booked the entire restaurant. It's not cheap."

"Do you think I can't afford it?" William shot her a cold glance. He found Isabella particularly distasteful.

Isabella forced a smile. "Of course not. I think it's unnecessary to spend so much. After all, for Alex, this is mere trifle."

Elinor sensed something was amiss. She pondered, 'This lady seems to think William is poor. He is the president of Blue Sky Group. If he is poor, then there would be no rich people in the world.'

William ignored Isabella and said to Elinor, "Go ahead."

"Yes, Mr. Bennett." Elinor took the card.

Elinor emphasized the address intentionally, hoping to hint at William's true identity.
