Chapter 308 - Planning to Leave

Ava was planning to leave town for a while to secretly have her baby elsewhere. Before her departure, she wanted to spend more time with her grandmother, so she went to visit the old lady the next day.

Scarlett furrowed her brow slightly upon seeing her, "Ava, you're here again?"

"What do you mean 'again'?" Ava muttered unhappily, "It's like you're fed up with me. Didn't you say, no matter what, I am your granddaughter? Don't you love me anymore?"

Ava didn't truly mean it; she wasn't upset. She didn't actually think her grandmother was tired of her, she was just being playful and affectionate in front of her.

Scarlett chuckled, "My child, how could I not love you? Aren't you tired from all the running back and forth?"

"Not tired at all," Ava giggled, sitting beside her and looping her arm, "coming to see you energizes me, makes me happy."

"Look at you, making all the love I pour into you worthwhile," Scarlett said contentedly.

"Grandma," Ava Anderson said carefully, leaning on her shoulder without putting all her head's weight on it.

"What is it?"

"Nothing, I just suddenly felt like calling you."

I'm sorry, Grandma.

She silently apologized to her in her heart.

"My child, is there something on your mind? Did Alex upset you again?"

"No, Grandma, remember I told you last time that I wanted to travel around and clear my head for a few months?"

Scarlett nodded, "Yes, you mentioned it. Are you going now?"

Ava hummed a confirmation, "In a few days I plan to leave, so it might be quite a while before I see you again."

Scarlett lifted her hand and gently stroked her head, "It's okay, Grandma won't tie you down. You don't need to worry about me being upset. It's good for you to travel and clear your head. Just remember, as long as you're happy, that's all that makes me happy."

Ava's nose tingled with the threat of tears, "Thank you, Grandma."

A simple phrase, "As long as you're happy, I'm happy," yet so hard for many to achieve.

Too many people think, "If you do this, then I'll be happy." Or they believe that by forcing you, you'll definitely be happy later.

Even many parents feel this way, sometimes even rooting their happiness in their children's pain.

But Grandma was different; she never made Ava unhappy and always protected her.

"Ava, when you go out traveling, see the world, and remember to send videos to Grandma."

"Of course, Grandma. If you like, I'll video chat with you every day, so you can see me all the time."

Grandma was getting on in years, and Ava wanted to give her peace of mind by staying in touch.
"Look at you, kiddo," Scarlett pinched her nose, "Grandma doesn't think so. I'm getting old and chatting wears me out. Just call Grandma twice a week, no need to talk every day."

Her darling granddaughter had grown up and wanted to soar on her own.

Scarlett felt that the only thing she could do was not to hold her back, but to let her have fun.

"Okay, Grandma, I got it. I'll do as you say because I don't want to leave either."

She wanted to stay by her grandmother's side forever.

There was even an impulse to share with her grandmother the news of her pregnancy.

She could have her baby right there by her grandmother's side, keep her company, and make sure her grandma was bathed in joy and laughter.
