Chapter 501 Clear Boundaries

After finishing her ablutions, Ava lay on the sofa, covered herself with a blanket, and prepared to rest.

"Ava." William suddenly opened his eyes.

"What's wrong?" She asked, rising from the sofa, "Did I wake you up?"

"Come sleep on the bed. It's more comfortable here."

"No, that's your sickbed. It's not appropriate for me to lie on it."

Ava didn't realize that her words had a certain instinctual distance, and the boundaries between William and her were very clear.

"There's nothing inappropriate. This bed is big enough for both of us, and I want to hold you so I feel more secure."

Ava quickly thought about how to respond, trying to find a reasonable excuse to reject him.

"William, your are still connected to machines. I like to toss and turn at night when I sleep. It would be a disaster if I accidentally pulled out the wires. It's a bit crowded for us to sleep together, and I would be more comfortable sleeping on the sofa."

She and William were not a real couple, so they shouldn't sleep in a bed. However. once William recovered, she wouldn't know what excuse to use.

"Alright then." William didn't force her either. He stared at Ava, full of anticipation. "I hope to get better soon and go home early, so we can sleep together."

Ava showed a hint of awkwardness, trying not to let William see anything.

"Let's just sleep." With that, Ava lay down.

William's gaze lingered on Ava. He felt that something was off, but he couldn't quite figure it out.

She didn't want to sleep with him in the same bed, and her reasons were valid. However, why could he sense her rejection for reasons beyond what he already knew?

The next morning, Ava woke up early. When she opened her eyes, William was still asleep.

Although she slept on the sofa last night, it was the best night she had. There were no nightmares, and she slept until dawn. Because William was fine, she felt relieved. Now, she just had to wait for his recovery.

The doctor said William needed to stay in the hospital for a month before he could be discharged.

Ava carefully got up from the sofa and went to the bathroom to freshen up. She stood in front of the mirror, gently touching her belly. By then, she would be over four months pregnant, and it would be very obvious.

She wasn't sure whether to tell William about her pregnancy now. She couldn't lie to him and make him think the child she was carrying was his.

But if she told William the truth, she was worried he would be upset. With so many bad things before, she didn't want to add more pressure on him.

Forget it. She would make another decision based on the specific situation at that time, and maybe William would gradually remember.

After freshening up, Ava returned to the ward and saw that he was awake.

"William, you're awake. How do you feel?"

William smiled, "As long as I see you, I feel comfortable all over. I don't feel like I need to stay in the hospital. I can go home directly."

Ava sat beside the bed and patted his hand. "The doctor said you need to stay in the hospital for a month. Rest well in bed. Don't worry. I'll be with you all the time. A month will pass quickly, and then we can go home together."

William nodded. "Okay."

Ava tucked him in. "I'll go get some water for you to freshen up."

As Ava was about to get up, William grabbed her hand. "I can get up and freshen up by myself."

"No," Ava said, "The doctor said you need to rest in bed for three to five days before you can get up. Be a good boy and lie down. I'll bring the water over."
