Chapter 628 Unhurried
"If you're a man, tell me the truth. Ava and Alex divorced not long ago, and she married William right away. That's unusually fast. Plus, the fact that William's father is you makes it even more suspicious."
Mia came here because Alexander visited her yesterday and told her some things. He originally wanted Mia to talk to Ava, but Mia didn't contact Ava. Instead, she found Dalton because she felt the root of the issue wasn't with Ava.
Dalton nodded. "That's right, you're still as smart as ever, seeing through the essence of things. I'm curious, how did you end up marrying George? I get it. Were you heartbroken by me and lost hope in life?"
Mia narrowed her eyes slightly and said coldly, "The thing I regret most in my life isn't marrying George. It's being with a cold-hearted, ruthless man thirty years ago. Thinking about it now still makes me sick. Anyway, I was young and naive back then and misjudged people. I should thank him for making my life more 'colorful.'"
Dalton's hand on his knee gradually clenched into a fist. Seeing the sarcasm in Mia's eyes, he snorted. "Does George know about your 'colorful' past? If he did..."
"So what if he knows?" Mia interrupted him, "Do you think I care? Go ahead, tell him that I was with you before I married him."
Dalton stared at her, suddenly falling silent.
Mia grabbed the water cup on the table, took a sip, and slammed the cup back down. "Dalton, if you think you can threaten me with this, you're underestimating me. I don't care at all."
"But you still came to see me," Dalton said smugly, "For Ava."
"Do you think I'm easy to mess with? Don't forget, I have a wide network. Blue Sky Group has a big project that needs a loan, right? If something goes wrong, the approval time can't be guaranteed."
Dalton smiled slightly, unhurried. " It looks like it's your turn to threaten me. I must say, I quite enjoy your threats."
"Can you tell the truth now? What's the deal with Ava marrying William?" Mia asked impatiently.
"Ava is very kind. She took the initiative to marry William who was forced to marry by me. This way, he wouldn't have to marry a rich girl he didn’t love, who also happens to be a drug addict."
Mia frowned. "Why Ava? She's not from a prestigious family. I don't think she meets your standards."
"She has many benefits for me. If she didn't marry William, how would we be sitting here, having this patient conversation?"
Mia took a deep breath and leaned back, crossing her arms and staring coldly at him. "Is this for me?"
"Exactly." Dalton laughed. "Seeing how much you care about her, of course, I wanted Ava to be my daughter-in-law. The child in her belly will carry the Bennett surname, making it easier for us to meet."
Mia grabbed the water cup on the table and splashed the water directly onto Dalton's face.
Dalton closed his eyes, water dripping down his face. He smiled faintly, not angry. Instead he picked up a napkin on the table and slowly wiped his face.
