Chapter 1033 Let Go of Me
"Anything suspicious?" Alexander thought, trying to figure out where things went wrong.
Then it hit him. He had told Ava he had evidence, and that William was definitely going to jail.
Before seeing the evidence, Ava hadn't mentioned that William had already fled back to Berlyn.
It was only after watching the video that she slowly told him William had left Stellaria.
Why didn't she say it from the start? Why wait until after watching the video?
It felt like she was protecting William.
Could Ava be involved?
Did she make William leave early, worried something might happen to him here?
Maybe William told Ava what he did, and even though she was mad, she still forgave him and let him go back to Berlyn to lay low, so William left out of fear.
But he remembered Ava's shocked expression when she saw the video evidence; it didn't seem like she knew beforehand.
Alexander's mind was a mess.
"Alexander," Madison held his hand, "sometimes the truth is the most unexpected. I think Mrs. Bennett knows you so well, she must also know what kind of person William is. So, it's not a coincidence that William returned to Berlyn at this critical moment. I feel like they might have planned something together. She knows what William has done. As his wife, Ava would naturally protect William no matter what. After all, they have a child together. She couldn't just watch William go to jail."
Madison's words made sense, and Alexander felt conflicted.
Alexander said, "Alright, Madison, stop talking."
Madison replied, "Okay, I won't say anymore. But, Alexander, I'm afraid you'll get hurt. I always think of you because I love you. And Mrs. Bennett thinks of William because she loves him."
Alexander felt a bit dizzy. He unbuttoned a few buttons on his collar, his chest heaving, and said, "You go ahead and have breakfast."
Madison stopped talking. She picked up her fork and started eating her fried eggs, sneaking glances at Alexander, who didn't look well.
After Madison finished breakfast, Alexander said, "I'm going out for a bit. I'll be back soon."
Madison asked, "Alexander, where are you going?"
Alexander replied, "I have something to take care of. You rest first."
Madison said, "Alright, be careful."
Alexander responded and then left the ward.
Alexander went to Ava's ward.
He saw Ava dressed and walking to the door, looking like she was about to leave.
Alexander immediately chased after her.
He called out to Ava from behind, "Wait a moment."
Hearing the voice, Ava stopped and turned around.
Alexander approached her, "Why are you being discharged?"
Ava replied, "I feel much better, so I'm going back."
She planned to visit Vincent and then go to class today.
Alexander frowned and said, "You need to stay in the hospital for a few more days. You can't be discharged yet."
Ava said, "I decide whether I can be discharged or not. I've already signed the papers. Mr. Mitchell, you should go to take care of Madison."
Ava turned to leave.
Alexander grabbed her wrist, "Wait a minute."
"Alexander, why are you doing this? My matters are none of your concern. Please, let me go, okay?"
