Chapter 499 Wetting the Pillow
Alexander was a bit angry. If he hadn't been following Ava all along, no one would have known if something had happened to her on the stairs.
"Alexander, when I go up the stairs, it's always William carrying me. I'm used to being spoiled by him. Let go of me!"
His breath sprayed hot on her cheek. The familiar scent made Ava feel sad. She disgusted him, even hated him. However, the love and hate intertwined in her heart, forming an inexplicable pain. She just wanted to stay away from him, away from pain.
Suddenly, Alexander lifted her body directly.
"What are you doing?" Ava wrapped her arms around his neck, afraid of falling. However, realizing what she was doing, she quickly retracted her arms. "Put me down."
"Didn't you say William always carries you up the stairs? Now I'm carrying you up, so don't say your ex-husband never carried you upstairs!"
Alexander didn't know what stimulated him, but he had to compete with William.
He carried Ava all the way up the stairs until he put her down in the corridor on the VIP floor.
As soon as Ava was put down by Alexander, she immediately distanced herself from him, as if he was a monster she wanted to escape from.
Alexander stared at Ava blankly, a faint mist rising in his dark eyes. "Are you really happy when you stay with William?"
Ava clenched her fists. "Yes, I'm much happier with him than with you."
At least William had never hurt her, always considering everything for her.
Alexander smiled helplessly, "That's good."
He turned and walked away, gradually disappearing down the corridor.
Ava stared at his back. A strong sense of pain surged in her heart. She gently touched her abdomen. "Baby, I'm sorry. I pushed your dad away. I used to want us to be a family of three so much, but it's too late now."
"Your dad and I always met at the wrong time, every time."
Ava composed herself and arrived at the door of William's ward.
Before going in, she asked the bodyguard, "How is William? Did he have something?"
The bodyguard nodded. "He finished all his food, but he doesn't know where you went and is very worried."
Ava nodded. "Okay, I got it."
Thinking he was already asleep, she opened the door cautiously, sneaking in.
However, as soon as she entered, a voice came from the hospital bed. "You finally come back."
Ava was startled, like a child who came home late after doing something wrong and was caught by her parents.
After closing the door, she approached the bedside. "William, I'm sorry. I had some things to attend to, so I didn't come back in time."
William ignored her and turned his head away, sulking.
Ava pulled a chair over, sat down, and held his hand. "William."
William pulled his hand back.
He was really angry. He had waited for a long time, feeling anxious. He even cried several times, wetting the pillow and secretly wiping it dry.
"William, please don't be angry. It's not good for your health." She gently shook his arm.
William still ignored her, pulling the blanket over his head like a child losing his temper.
Ava found it funny, yet a bit heartbroken. "I'm sorry, William. It's a friend of mine. His appendix ruptured, and the situation is critical. He was taken to the operating room, and his family was not around. I had to wait for him to finish the surgery, which took nearly five hours. After it was done, I came here immediately."
