Chapter 597 Mixing Feeling
Ava's cold gaze once again pierced Alexander's heart. He tugged at the corner of his mouth and said helplessly, "So, you want to eat lamb?"
"Of course, lamb is quite delicious. William likes it, and I like it too." Ava turned to William and said, "Let's order that."
Ava behavior appeared to be motivated by spite, and William took note of it.
He wasn't sure if Ava actually wanted to eat lamb now. Given her previous dislike for it, he thought it was wiser not to take the chance. If she didn't like it, she definitely wouldn't enjoy eating it.
"Ava, I suddenly don't feel like having lamb. Let's order something else. How about you pick?"
Ava didn't want lamb either. Her earlier comment was purely out of spite. Thinking it over, she realized she couldn't stomach lamb just to spite Alexander. If she felt nauseous, it would expose her intentions.
She stared at the menu, uncertain of what to order.
"Beef stew," Alexander suddenly said, "It's your favorite."
Turning to the waiter, Alexander said, "I'll have a beef stew. Ava, you should get it too. You love it."
Ava frowned slightly, feeling a bit irritated. She felt that Alexander was constantly trying to provoke her.
"I'm sick of beef stew," Ava said coldly, "Two tropical seafood casseroles, please."
Ava handed the menu back to Elinor.
Alexander frowned slightly. "Really? Then tell me. What do you enjoy eating now?"
"Why should I tell you? What does it matter to you?" Ava smiled slightly. "Mr. Mitchell, please focus on your girlfriend."
Isabella smiled awkwardly. "I'll have a beef stew, too, and a bottle of red wine. What would everyone else like to drink?"
"No need," Ava and Alexander said simultaneously.
They exchanged glances for several seconds after speaking at the same time.
Isabella's smile froze. "Why? Don't you drink?"
Alexander's mouth curved into a smile. His gaze softened as he looked at Ava, a stark contrast to his previously sinister look.
William turned to look at Ava, sensing something amiss. He pondered, 'Ava is pregnant and can't drink. But is there something more?'
Ava said, "I don't want to drink. Please bring me a glass of juice. Any kind will do."
Alexander added, "I won't drink either. I'll have a glass of juice, too, the same as hers."
Alexander seemed to be deliberately matching her order.
Ava frowned. "No, our juices shouldn't be the same."
Elinor glanced between Alexander and Ava, her eyes full of confusion. She thought, 'What is going on? Why does the atmosphere feel so tense?'
William said, "I won't drink either. Please get me a glass of the same juice as Ava."
Elinor nodded. "Alright."
She looked at each of them in turn, finally resting her gaze on Isabella, and asked, "What kind of red wine would you like?"
Isabella forced a smile, hiding her displeasure, and said, "I won't drink either. Just bring me a glass of the same juice as Alex."
After speaking, Isabella looked at Alexander with a shy expression.
Elinor forced a professional smile, but her feelings were mixed.
