Ava agreed, and the medical staff wheeled her bed away.
William grabbed Ava's phone, slipped it into his pocket, and held her hand tightly.
"Don't worry, Ava. I'll be right outside. You and the baby will be fine," he reassured her.
"William, remember what I said. Make sure the baby is safe. No matter what, it stays in my womb until it's safely born. As long as I'm alive, that's my priority," Ava reminded him.
"I promise, Ava," William replied sincerely.
He cupped her face until they reached the operating room door, where the doctor asked him to stop.
"Doctor, wait a second," William called out.
The medical staff paused.
William bent down and gently kissed Ava's forehead.
Tears streamed down Ava's face.
Moved, she thought, 'William is always by my side when things get tough.'
'I owe him so much, and I can never repay it.'
William looked at her deeply and said, "I'll wait for you."
Ava nodded lightly.
Then, the medical staff wheeled her into the operating room.
William took a few steps back and slumped into a chair.
He pulled Ava's phone out of his pocket.
He remembered the lock screen password Ava had told him and unlocked the phone.
Ava's phone was pretty clean, nothing messy.
There were lots of landscape pictures in the album, but as he scrolled down, he found many photos of her with Alexander.
They were kissing, hugging, and sharing intimate moments.
William frowned deeply as he looked at them.
He really wanted to delete those photos but held back.
He browsed through the chat history between Ava and Alexander, especially the messages from before they divorced.
Their words were filled with love.
