Chapter 1269 Not Letting Him Come
Ava held Sunny tightly, trembling with fear.
"Eason, are you going to kill me?"
"Kill you?" Eason laughed. "If I wanted to kill you, you'd be dead already. Why would I wait until now?"
Ava tried her best to control herself, took a deep breath, and said, "What do you want?"
"Make a call to Alexander."
"What do you want me to tell him?"
Eason squinted and said, "He's on his way here. Tell him you have something to do and he shouldn't come."
Ava hesitated.
"What's wrong? You don't want to?"
Eason cocked the gun's safety. "My patience is limited. I don't want to kill you, but I'm a bad guy. Bad guys can do anything."
"I'll call him." Ava didn't dare provoke him.
"Wait." Eason extended his hand. "Give me the phone."
Ava looked at him warily but didn't move.
Eason seemed impatient. "Give it to me!"
The words carried a warning.
Ava handed him the phone.
Eason unlocked it, and the screen lit up, showing an unsent message to Alexander.
He deleted the message, then found Alexander's number in the contacts and dialed it.
Eason handed the phone back to Ava. "No speakerphone."
Eason stepped back a few paces. On the other end, Alexander quickly answered.
"Ava."
Ava closed her eyes, trying to keep her voice steady. "Alexander, don't come."
"What did you say?" Alexander asked, puzzled. "Why? I have something important to tell you."
"I know it's important, but I really can't right now. I have something important to do. We can't meet today."
"What do you have to do? I'll come find you. I can go with you, and we can talk on the way."
Alexander insisted on coming.
Eason lowered his voice and warned, "If Alexander comes, I'll kill him."
Ava's heart skipped a beat, and she quickly said, "Alexander, I told you not to come. I have something important to handle. It's personal, and I don't want you to interfere. I'll talk to you after I'm done. Don't come. You won't find me anyway; I'm already out."
Alexander was silent for a long time, then said, "When will you be free? When can I come find you?"
"I don't know. I'll call you when I'm free. I have to go now."
"What about the mastermind? Don't you want to know who's behind everything, who killed Scarlett?"
Ava stared coldly at Eason and said helplessly, "Even if I knew, what could I do? Alexander, you have the resources and power. You can investigate. Tell me when you find something. Otherwise, we have nothing to talk about."
"Ava, what's wrong with you?"
"Nothing's wrong. Alexander, I have to go. Just don't come."
At that moment, Eason lowered his voice and said, "Tell Alexander not to have any hope for you. You will never love him again."
Ava's brow furrowed.
"Say it!" Eason warned.
Under pressure, Ava said, "And Alexander, don't have any hope for me. I will never love you again."
